IPod 1.3 wrongly says I'm connected to another library?
Don't know what iPod I have - it's version 1.3 30 GB. Anyway, I can't add new music from iTunes to Ipod because it warns me I'm connected to another library and it will erase everything on it and replace with - what?
I have 2 libraries - the regular one on my Mac HD drive, and another one an old copy on an external drive which is not active when I try to sync my iPod. I don't use that one, maybe I should get rid of it. I tried to use Tune Ranger a few times but not sure if that screwed things up. Don't quite know how to use the Tune ranger, maybe I should get rid of it. I checked my iTunes preferences and it lists the usual library I have been using: Mac HD:users:my name:music:iTunes library:
Any suggestions?
Not sure how or why that happened, but I'm not sure there is a way around this exactly, other than to simply restore the iPod, which will re-associate the IPod with your iTunes library.
This has happened to users who upgrade iTunes on occasion.

Anyone help?
If you reinstalled the operating system on your computer the iPod thinks it is a new computer/new library.
Or was there a computer glitch that erased the files that previously recognized the iPod on your computer.
In any event, if there is a backup on your computer (go to the Devices tab in iTunes' preferences) you can restore your iPod from backup and resync your stuff to the iPod. The location of the backup file on your computer can be found in this article:

Hi, recently my school IT rebooted my laptop and lost my iTunes ... Redownloaded it but it won't reconise my phone or iPods as it it saying they are linked to another computer .... Can anyone tel me what to do? Don't want to wipe the music I have bought on these devices
Thanks in advanceInstall or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

My computer was reimaged and iTunes was deleted, now when I try to sync my ipad it says it is synced with another library? How do I sync with the newly installed iTunes without losing all of my data on my ipad?
Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

Ipod won't synch because it's synched w/another library
authorized new computer, but ipod won't synch because it's "synched w/another library" - how do i connect it with my new laptop?
hey there,
That is the same for iphone and ipad. I assumed the machine you were authorizing is the ONLY machine you want to sync with. If that is correct what I said is correct.
If you want to sync your ipod with multiple machines then it is different, here is a video made earlier that answers that specific. There are loads of ways to do, and some great software (3rd party) it but this is the easiest in the video and all part of itunes secret ways. http://bit.ly/1device -
My PC died and in turn so did my main iTunes library. My iPhone was synced to the library that is gone. Now when I try to connect to another library, it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library. Any way around that? I don't want to lose the music that is on my phone. I am looking for a way to tell the phone to "forget" the old library and let me start working with a new library.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone. Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars. So do NOT sync yet. This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data. Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync. They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup. -
I had to do a restore on the iPhone - thanks Verizon. Music had been backled up to iTunes via computer and cloud. But it's gone. The music exists on my iPads as well. So when I hook the iPad up to an authorized computer it says it's synched to another library. ??? How do I get it synched to the iPhone? I have ONE account...don't get it
Music is not included in the iPhone backup, because it is already on your computer, so why duplicate it?
Music can only be synced to one computer at a time, so if you change computers the contents of the iOS device will be replaced by what is on the latest computer.
If you have an iCloud backup and your music is saved to iCloud you can restore it by going to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. When this completes it will ask if you want to restore your iCloud content. -
I bought my son a 1st generation Ipod touch off of Ebay. We set it back to factory settings and downloaded the newest version of itunes. Whenever he tries to download any apps it says "can not connect to itunes" I have checked the wifi connection and that is working (he can get on safari) and we have the newest version of windows. He was so excited to finally get his first Ipod and now cant do anything with it...please help

Can't connect to the iTunes Store
What iOS is on the iPod (Setings>General>About>VERSION)? -
I don't know what's going on with my ipod it keeps saying can't connect to store when I try to download updates but I can still buy apps from the store???
Make sure your system time & date is set properly. If it is not, then move it backwards 2 months, then try to connect to the store. Good chance it will work then.
Change it back after again. -
My son downloaded songs onto my ipod shuffle from his friend's computer but I have no access to that computer. When I try to connect to my library from my computer I get a message saying that in order to sync w/my library I have to erase all content. Is there any other way to connect this shuffle w/out erasing all these songs?

I have been having problems connecting to the internet, so I tried restoring to an earlier date with no luck, so I have had to restore my PC back to factory setting. When I log on to my iTunes library it says I am already connect to another PC. I have lost all my music and photos. I have them on my ipad but I don't want to sync it with my new account as this will take all my information of my iPad. Anyone know how to get my origianl iTunes back.
I did back up my computer and then put everything back on ( or so I thought) but it did not work properly ( I don't know why) maybe I hit the wrong button, but know on my back up for iTunes it is the one I have on my computer now without all my music and photos. Guess I'll just have to start again, I did manage to work out how to get any purchases I got from iTunes. So it's just all my own music bit of a bummer really but still you live and learn, so I'm told.
Thanks for the help thought much appreciated. -

I switched to manually manage music and now the eroor says i am synced to another itunes library "Admin" and all existing content on the phone will be replaced with content from the Itunes library.
