IPod 2.0 download

I am getting really frustrated with my dozen or more attempts downloading the IPod 2.0 update. I am using iTunes 7.7.0.43 on WinXP. When I attempt to download it get anywhere between 50 to 75% done and errors out with a -3259 error. In addition to that, I wouldn't mind necessarily if the download would have resume capability, but it doesn't! Everytime I try it's another 222MB. Anyone else having this problem or better yet a solution? Can I get iTunes to resume where it left off or is this a "choice" that Apple made for some reason? Thanks...

Okay, I don't know if Apple suddenly got better or my other machine did the trick. My office PC is only used for a very few things and is fairly clean, so I decided to try that. The download completed, but things blewup during the upgrade. iTunes then wanted to take everything back to defaults and install. I now have 2.0 on my little machine. Finally, LOL. Good luck...

  • How do i get my ipod touch to download more than one app at a time, can i make it toware i dont have to wait for one app to download before it starts downloading another,

my ipod will only download one app at a time and runs extremely slow. i was wondering if there is some way that i can make it download more than one app at a time and how can i make the app start downloading again after i have left my wi-fi zone and then went back in. im really confused.

Download everything on your computer in iTunes, then sync your iPod to iTunes.
You should be syncing (backing up) to iTunes and your photo app regurally, anyway.

  • TS2446 If i create a new apple id account on my ipod, will i still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that i downloaded and bought with my old account or will i loose everything; will i be able to still do the updates to those apps?

If I create a new apple id account on my ipod, will I still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that I downloaded and bought with my old account or will I loose everything; will I be able to still do the updates to those apps?
    I really need help!

I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
    The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer.

  • How many iPODS can you download your music library to?

I've purchased 3 iPODS over time and have downloaded from my iMAC to each.
Is there a limit to how many iPODS I can download to? On the last one I got a message saying I only had one more left. These are all legal purchases. Why is there a limit?

    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
"* iTunes DRM-protected music includes audio with a bit rate of 128 kbps and allows users to transfer songs and videos to up to five computers, burn seven copies of the same playlist to CD, and sync to an unlimited number of iPods.
iTunes Plus music refers to songs and music videos available in our highest-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding (twice the current bit rate of 128 kbps), and without digital rights management (DRM). There are no burn limits and iTunes Plus music will play on all iPods, Mac or Windows computers, Apple TVs, and many other digital music players."

  • ITunes to iPod (5th Gen) download problems

Problem encoutered: "Attempting to copy disk to iPod failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
This is the messaged I've received in trying to download my current iTunes library to my new 5th Gen iPod.
I have found it I remove the last song that iTunes attempted to download to the iPod; the the downloading continues. BUT, it occured again with another totally different song.
What is going on here? Has this occured with any one else?
Lastly, I did call Apple. We did a restore and downloaded the lastest iPod software.

I posted this in another forum.
This may pertain to you as well.
"ALL RIGHT EVERYONE! Anyone who has problems with their iPod freezing while syncing Listen Up.
I have successfully figured out what needs to be done in order to get your iPod syncing properly.
What you will need for this it another hard drive or computer (running OS X)
You can either set a hard drive (like one of the previous iPods with OS X installed on it) as the startup disk in System Preferences.
    OR
There's another option for you if you have another Mac..
What you'll need to do is start the one you need to repair (that you sync your Pod from) in "target disk mode" which is done by restarting the computer and holding the "T" button.
This puts your computer into Firewire mode, and makes your computer an external hard drive for another computer to view.
You will also need a 6pin-6pin Firewire cord - to connect the 2 computers.
Once you have the main computer up as a disk image on your other desktop, open disk utility and click the Repair disk option.
I did this and it said the drive could not be repaired, and I ran it again and it fixed it the second time, so that might happen to you too.
I know this seems like a lot to do to get your computer working with your iPod, but it definitely works.
If you don't have another computer, and (as most of you seem to) have a portable like a powerbook or an ibook, just bring it to an apple store and I'm sure they'll gladly help."
Let me know if you have any questions....
    Good Luck!

  • My ipod no longer downloads new songs purchased. it says it synced but just displays picture of a connector and says "connected"

my ipod no longer downloads newly purchased songs. when connected it says it is synced on Itunes but displays a cable and the word "connected" eject before disconnecting on the ipod screen. Any idea's as to what the problem is?

    Hello there darnau,
I have a couple things to recommend here. First if you have not already, turn off the iPod Nano, and turn it back on, then try again. From iPod nano (6th generation): Software update version 1.1 changes found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4531.
Turning iPod nano off completely and turning it on again
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for several seconds to turn iPod nano off completely.
Note: If the iPod nano (6th generation) is showing that it's charging or attached to a powered accessory or cable, you cannot turn off the iPod until you detach the accessory or cable from the device.
Possibly even restore the iPod Nano Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    Regards,
    Sterling

i have over 5000 songs on my computer. Which is from songs bought from iTunes and from cd. i had all the songs on my iPod. went to download new songs and only 1500 songs are download . please help

Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.
" it told me when i pluged hers in 2 ipods could not use the same account"
This is not true.  You have misunderstood.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library.

    Hello Ramirongo,
If you are trying to update your iPod, then all you need to do is have the latest version of iTunes installed and plug it in. It will check of any updates if they are available and update your iPod. I have also provided the User Guide for your model of iPod as well.

  • Rented a movie in iTunes on iPod, but under downloads..

Rented a movie in iTunes on iPod, but under downloads it just kept saying waiting. Is it downloading?!!

Sorry, what I was attempting to clarify was this:
You can rent the movie on your desktop but in order to watch it on your ATV you will have to turn on Home Sharing and download the movie to your desktop, only then will the rented movie appear on your ATV under Home Sharing.
Either this is a flaw in the software or part of a copyright arrangement. If you purchase a movie, then it will appear under Movies > Purchased on the ATV, for some reason rentals do not. If this is software related then it should be fixed at some point. Although the original thread is from over a year ago, the problem persists. Renting on the ATV directly is not optimal since the file is not transferable to any other device, presumably b/c there is no file? But that shouldn't matter. All that should matter is: this Apple ID purchased this item > it should be available on all devices associated w/that Apple ID.

  • I purchased my daughter the new ipod. I downloaded the latest version of itunes and after syncing the new ipod, I was unable to get the majority of my songs. They all appear with an exclamation point. Even the ones purchased on itunes. Why?

I purchased my daughter the new ipod. I downloaded the latest version of itunes. After syncing the ipod, all my songs appear grayed out. They have an exclamation point next to them. Even the ones I purchased from itunes. How do I get my songs back?

Usually, the exclamation mark tells you that the song was not where the program expected to find it. It may also mean that there was an error with the file itself.
If you click on the exclamation mark, it may give you a reason. You can also double click the file to make it play. If the file is not found, it will tell you. Just follow the prompts to look for the song again. It will ask you if you want to look for the other missing songs in the same folder. You can do it, but unfortunately, the last few updates have made the program blind to the songs that are there and you sometimes have to do the same process for each song.
If neither of these help, I would suggest starting from scratch and reinstalling iTunes. I have had to do that before. Do your best to back up the library and such first.
Sometimes a computer will rename a hard disk (Windows) and all the songs on that disk will be gone to iTunes because it will think it's looking in the right place. It can't recognize that the hard disk or partition has been renamed.
I know that this is a podcast, but the principle is the same. A dialogue box should pop up to tell you just what the problem is.
       I hope this helps!
