IPod 20GB Photo Blank/White Screen

Within the past half an hour I was listening to my iPod and I went to skip a song and my iPod's screen was blank. If i used the click wheel the back-light would come on but no image would display. I tried to reset my iPod and it still came up with a blank screen with no images or menu. It would still play the music, but the menus to choose what you are going to do are not showing up at all. basically my screen doesn't work at all except for the back-light. I tried restoring my iPod and that did nothing. Help please?

If you can't turn it off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem an an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

- Did you try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next try restoring from backup
- Then restoring to factory defaults.new iPod.
- Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem,
If iTunes does not see the iPod, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPO\od. For recovery mode see:

My wifes Ipod Nano has blank white screen but still works

As the topic says, the nano has a blank white screen but still plays songs and works with iTunes. i have tried reseting it via holding menu and select for 10 seconds without success also i have tried holding select and play/pause after reseting (hard reset i guess) without any success.
I have tried restoring factory defaluts and loading different versions of iPod update without success.

My Ipod touch has a blank white screen. I have attempted to restore and restart. I have also reset. The touch is recognized on my itunes page. It will allow me to eject the ipod. I also put earphones on to determine whether I could hear anything (desperation). I can hear something through the speakers. Not music but kind of like dead air---a little hissing----so I know something is going on. I am confused about what to do or whether that little white screen is the beginning of the end. Any insight into my problem would be much appreciated

My ipod got damp one day(but still worked for a week or two after that). the screen is white now when i turn it on. i know where the buttons are so i can still listen to music but cannot see anything. what do i do??

Turn iPod touch off and turn it on again.
If the iPod will not turn off, try to reset it. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPod touch until it is fully charged.
If that doesn't work, try restoring the iPod. See this article for assistance.

It's been like this for a while now and I don't know what to do besides to take it into the apple store since I think I have tried everything to help get it back to normal. Any suggestions?

I received a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (around 2 years old)from a friend and asked me whether I could fix it for him, which has been left untouched as a paper-weight for almost 2 months.
I tried to turn it on, and the screen was completed blank and the device looked dead. Before doing anything I prepared the following:-
1. A window based PC
2. A Mac computer
3. An USB iPod cable
4. A Firewire iPod cable
5. An iPod AC charger
As the iPod was previously formatted on a PC, therefore I tried to plug it with a PC via USB cable, it did not response and not able to get recognized by the PC. I ejected the iPod and connected with an AC charger, after a few minutes, I did a Reset for the iPod

The iPod showed an Apple sign, it stuck there for almost a minute, the screen then showed a battery with an exclamation mark sign, and after a minute, the iPod turned off itself. I was sure that the iPod carried very low battery, and could not be charged by connecting it with any computer (both Mac and PC).
I decided to let it have a charge with an AC charger for a bit longer, after 10 minute I did the Reset again, this time a sign of folder with exclamation mark showed up after the Apple sign, and again could not get recognized by a computer.

Instead of connecting with a PC, I plug it with my Mac using a Firewire cable, it did not response, so I switched the cable to an USB, interestingly, the iPod got recognized and a window pop up indicating that the iPod needed to do a Restore. Therefore I clicked “Restore"

My 160 GB ipod has a blank white screen. This happened simply by my plugging it in to my computer this morning to charge it. I want to get it turned off so I can consider resetting it.

Work through each of the recommend 5 R's of troubleshooting. If necessary, let the iPod's battery full drain first and then work through each one again as necessary.

If they are unable to addresse the white screen issue, it's a good indicator of a hardware issue with the iPod's display or its display's connection to the logic board.

I have a 14.88G iPod Nano that I currently use as my primary watch. A week or so ago I started to experience a blank white screen when I press the "sleep/wake" button instead of the watch face (I have it set to wake from sleep to display the clock). When I hard reset it, it will come back fine and the screen will respond and work as normal, as soon as I manually put it to sleep by pressing the "sleep/wake" button and then try to wake it the same thing happens and I have a blank white screen that doesn't respond to touch gestures or anything.
What I have tried so far to no avail:
Numerous hard restarts (holding the "sleep/wake" button with the volume - button).
Tried this: iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
Changed the watch face to display.
Recharged the device overnight (without full discharge).
Since none of this works I'm out of ideas. Eventhough I have a 6G Nano it should no longer be under warranty since I was sent it as a replacement for a different (older) product.
Any ideas? Is this a known problem? Thanks in advance for any insight any of you could provide. Also, what time is it??

I have the exact same problem as you have described. I also used my ipod as a watch but starting from today, whenever I unlock it the screen turns white until a reset is done. Even a factory reset through itunes didn't fix it.
