IPod 30 GB, HELP

I have downloaded 317 songs to my iPod. These songs have used 6 GB of memory.
Why is that? I copied my CDs into iTunes. Please help!! At this rate, I will be lucky if I get 1500 songs in a 30 GB iPod.

What format did you use to import the songs? Some file types take up a lot more space than others.
EDIT: If they're AIFFs, they are probably huge. I use AAC, which is what a lot of people prefer as a balance between size and still having pretty good sound quality. I'm not sure if you'd want to convert the files you already have or re-rip the songs. (I'm not an expert on what converting, say an AIFF to an AAC will do to sound quality. You might try a couple and see for yourself, or one of the gurus here --- Jeff, Chris, Deggie? --- could give you the scoop on that.)

You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network.

You can't back up to iCloud until you update to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to back up your iPod on your computer using iTunes. Update iTunes on your computer to the latest version, then connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, if iTunes give you a pop-up asking if you want to update your iPod, decline. Then click on the name of your iPod in iTunes, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer any purchased media to your iTunes library. Next, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click on Back Up Now to back up your iPod on your computer.
When it's done backing up, click on Check for Update (or Update) on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings. Allow your iPod to update, and leave it connected to your computer. At the end, it will restart and give you the option to restore to the iTunes backup you made earlier. Choose this option to restore your backup and sync your apps and other iTuens media to your phone.

ITunes will not add new songs to iPod. Please help!

Hello, my problem is pretty self-explainitory. I have the newest versions of itunes and ipod. When I plug in my ipod it "updates" it fine but once its done the new songs/artists/albums/playlists are not on my ipod.
Please help.

oh my gosh that is like the same thing that happened to me! i just downloaded itunes 7.0.2 yesterday and i bought some new songs and downloaded songs from cds into my library. i clicked "sync ipod" and the songs i downloaded from cds were the only things that went on!!!none of the songs i bought from itunes store went on my ipod!
i made sure i checked them and everything! they just won't go on my ipod!

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

The iPod shuffle does not use Windows Media Player to sync, it uses Apple’s iTunes application, available for free from this web site -

I just tried it again and this time a different message showed up "The iPod 'name' cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found." I have no clue what folder it could be talking about.

Its sad! I dont no how to put songs from my library to my ipod! plz help.

It says songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist. I have lots of music in my library but i dont no how to put it into my ipod. If helped ill be sure to comment back. thanks again.

Basically connect the iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab. Select automatically update all songs or playlists or automatically update selected playlists and select playlist(s).

Restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

- Verify the file and disk formats on your camcorder and on your friend computer whether they support what you want to do. Also, if you are using a specific application to do the task, you may need to verify an application whether it supports the file format (e.g. MPEG4, Apple Intermediate Codec).
- Verify the device cable type whether Mac OS X 10.4.x supports.
- Verify the device compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4.x.
- Check an available firmware or driver for the camcorder that has developed after Mac OS X 10.4.4.
- Try diagnosing and repairing local hard disk and camcorder's drive directory.
- Verify disks permissions issue.
- Verify whether the disk is TOO warm or cold to read.
- If every troubleshooting does not solve the issue, consider to reformat the camcorder drive.

Syncing photos from PC to iPod. Please help.

I have a 30 GB video iPod and using Windows XP Pro. In iTunes, I seem to be syncing 25 photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 to my iPod successfully. However, when I eject the iPod no photo album exists under the photo menu and under the "About" menu it shows I have 0, photos. When re-connected to iTunes, iTunes then ID's 25 photos on the iPod. It appears to work but I'm unable to view photos. Can anyone help me? Appreciated.

i am using windows xp. transfer all your images into one folder in my pictures and then sync from the ipod menu under preferences under edit menu in itunes. it optimized and copied more than 700 pictures onto my 30 gb ipod. hope this helped.

Hi, OK I had this exact same problem so I called APPLE. They told me to try to reset it and it worked!! Here is how to reset it...
- Turn your ipod off and then back on
- On your click wheel hold down the Menu button ANDthe center button.
- The apple logo will then appear after about 10-15 seconds.
- Once this logo appears click the center button and check to see if your songs are back on.
This worked for me!!!!! Good luck!!
