IPOD 30GB photo slideshow

Hello. I've read much of the forum but 1st issue is the photo slideshow on my IPOD 30 GB. Downloaded pictures used to display full screen and scroll automatically. Perfect! Now the slideshow displays three tiny photos while scrolling. Have altered the settings to no avail. Am I missing something so simple?

Hi almost, ;^)
I also bought my 30GB in March. I haven't had the problems you've seen though. Have you updated to the newest Updater, the one from this month (Sep)? I have read several people saying that they've had all kinds of problems when using this version. I believe this Updater is really only for the Nano. If you kept the previous one (from this summer) that has the 1.2 iPod version, try putting that one back on it.
As far as getting the computer to see it, try this:
1) disconnect your iPod and Reset it,
2) reboot your PC,
3) don't start any programs other than iTunes,
4) don't plug in anything other than your iPod.
Be patient - wait a few minutes and see if it connects. If not, try plugging the iPod into a different USB port.

  • Ipod / personnal photo slideshows

I cant get my slideshow to import into itunes for my new ipod.
I made a imovie with photos and music, then selected the share, ipod , and the movie was compressed . I have the document that is finished. Using "Command i", i see it says to open with itunes, and I can watch this in the preview section of this info.
When I open itunes and select , import, (with my movie area highlighted), it seems like I see a quick movement like it goes into itunes, but there isnt anything there.
What the heck am I doing wrong?
    My itunes is 7.2
    My imovie is 6.0.2
    Quicktime is 7.0.4
    OS system is 10.4.10
Please someone help me , Ive been working on this all night , my eyes and patience are taking its toll.
    Thank you
    Pamela

If you downloaded the movie from iTunes, it won't need converting. It's ready for the iPod. I'm not sure what the problem is, but the -50 error seems to indicate a problem with your iTunes. I'm not sure if uninstalling and reinstalling would help. Perhaps someone else in the forum knows. And you might want to post a new question and specify the -50 error. That way you'll be more likely to get the assistance you need.
And that would probably be best posted in the iTunes forum.

  • Ongoing iPod 30GB Problem

I am currently on my third 30GB iPod with color display. I have had an ongoing problem with them since I got my first one in mid June of last year, after 'X' period of time listening to music (varies from weeks to many months) the iPod will begin to not play songs and just skip to the next song on the playlist until the playlist is done. It will also be unable to turn off.
Restarting the iPod will help for a short period of time before a final restart where the iPod will display a "sad Ipod icon." At this point my computer will not recognize the iPod and it will die completely. I to to continue sending my iPods back to Apple and receiving new ones, however I was wondering what may be causing this problem. Any ideas?

  • I can't seem to get my iPod touch (4th Gen) to play photo slideshows or videos through my TV.  Is this a design flaw?  Or is it me?  My old iPod used to do it no problem, but now I can't even find any video out options in the settings.

  • HT3798 On iPod 160gb - how can I view album art full screen like in the menu half screen or photo slideshows?

I remember responding to an apple customer satisfaction survey in 2009, when I purchased my iPod Classic. I suggested it should be possible to have album art viewed in full screen like in photo slideshows or how album art is presented on half the screen when the menu is navigated to the 'music' list. Does anyone know if apple has created an iPod Classic software update which includes this glaring omission?

The progress bar is not the iPod disconnecting from the PC but rather the iPod reading in the library database from it's hard drive. It's safe to disconnect when told to.

  • Editing Photos on iPod (30gb)

is there anyway to delete photos off the ipod? some pictures got into mine that i don't want on there and i can't seem to figure out how to delete them. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

Either move those photos out of the area on your hard disk which is set to be synced with the iPod, or access the photos section of the iPod Options screen, which is accessible by clicking the small iPod in the bottom right corner of the iTunes window while the iPod is selected in iTunes, and turn off photo syncing.

  • How to display a photo slideshow in Widescreen 16x9 format?

I just bought a 5g iPod and the A/V connection kit. I can play a photo slideshow on my 16x9 TV, but it stretches the photos to fit the screen, so they are out of proper aspect ratio. Is there a way to tell my iPod that it should be displaying the photos on a 16x9 screen?
I understand that there is a widescreen option in the Video playback menu, but this does not seem to have any effect on the output of photo slideshows.

    Jon,
See if this works. It may or may not.
    Go to videos-->video settings-->Widescreen-->On
See if now when you play the photo slideshow it works right.
Now, if it doesn't then I don't think there is much you can do.
Tell Apple about the issue (if the steps above don't solve it)

  • IPod 30GB Problems with iTunes 9; Will not sync iPod and freezes iTunes

Since I have updated to iTunes 9 on windows xp (and more recently iTunes 9.0.1) I have not been able to sync my 5th generation iPod 30gb.
What happens when I connect my ipod is that iTunes will instantly freeze and not allow me to do anything on it, but I am able to open other windows just not iTunes. After about 10 minutes iTunes will unfreeze briefly and claim to be syncing my iPod. Eventually after a further 10 minutes I am greeted with a message saying:
"The ipod 'HARRY'S iPOD" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-50)."
    http://tinypic.com/r/2wchbgy/4
Also when I try to access my iPod through the window's explorer, when I try to enter any files I get the message "Please insert a disc into drive F:" followed by "F:\ Photos is not accesible. The parameter is incorrect"
I have no problems synicng my iPod Nano 4th Generation 16gb.
I've tried to revert to iTunes 8 after uninstalling iTunes 9 but when I do it wont let me open it saying it cannot read the file "Itunes Library.lib"
Does anyone have a clue where the problem is? And better still how to fix it?
    Thanks

Do NOT Threadjack. Start your own topic please. Help you get in your topic may help others when searching for like topics (your post could be lost in a unrelated topic).
If you don't know how to post a new thread...
In order to see the post link, you need to drill down to the subtopic level of a discussion area. If you see a list of subtopics, you are not down far enough.
For example, from the main discussion menu, you can choose Classic iPod and you will see the following...
Note that in the Classic discussion there are three sub-topics you can choose and NO post link yet. Now pick any sub-topic, for example, pick "Using iPod Classic" and you will get the following...
Now you have a link to post a new topic.

  • Photo slideshow does not work?

I tried numerous times to make the photo slideshow feature on ipod working it still does not work. I tried with different folders and albums.
What happens is I set up all the photo slideshow settings on the ipod, select the first picture in the album on the ipod and after the first picture the screen goes black and does not show transitions.
It was working just fine a couple days ago and now the transitions do not work at all.
    Any suggestions?

Try the five R's. One of those methods should fix it.

  • 30gb photo won't connect with firewire

I got a 30GB Photo used to use with my Emac. I didn't realize that it didn't come with a firewire cable. I bought a non-apple cable, and it will only charge, not mount. My Emac doesn't have USB 2.0, so I have to use firewire. I looked in the settings of the iPod and it says windows. Do I have to reinstall software on the iPod to make it a mac iPod before the firewire cable will work? If I use USB it will mount but iTunes will not recognize it. I know my FW ports are good. I use them with my ext HD and my camcorder. When I connect it with the FW cable it just says "do not disconnect" but I can't eject it. Thanks.

I suspect that you are running into problems with your ipod being formated for windows. Too be methodical try this process, to try and eliminate any other factors.
Reset your Ipod (Toggle hold switch on then off, press and hold play/pause and menu buttons)
Now retry connecting it using a different firewire/usb port
Restart your computer and make sure you have the most recent software updates
Remove itunes and reinstall ipod and itunes from the most recent versions online
Restore the ipod via ipod updater.
I suspect your problem will be solved in the last step, since it sounds like your ipod is formated for windows.

Well, I don't have one, so my experience is limited. However, I believe you've got to get to it by going to Videos>Video Podcasts on the main menu, as opposed to Music>Podcasts.

  • How do I transfer music off of my ipod 30gb into my library?

How do I transfer music off of my ipod 30gb into my library?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection (Yamipod has already been mentioned above), you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Help with photo slideshow and deleting photos!!!

I wanted to know how you make a photo slideshow on the ipod and I also wanted to find out how to delete photos off of the ipod. I got them on but some I didn't want on there. How do I get them off?

    Deleting photos? Easy.
The photos get on your nano through iTunes.
In iTunes you need to change the Preferences.
Plug in the nano, launch iTunes, open Preferences.
Look at the Photo tab - this will tell you what is being synced onto the nano.
Change this or remove the syncing altogether.
    Hope that solves your question.
Have a look at this link for the iPod for Dummies:
    iPod 101
lots of useful information there including photo slideshows.
