IPod 30GB Video Problem

Hey, guys. about 3 1/2 months ago, my sisters iPod 30GB Video, stopped working, and its dead, which when we get a charge, and we boot up, it hangs on a Apple Logo, and we cant figure out whats wrong, Apple can fix it, but it will cost us, about 179 Dollars. and she doesnt want to spend 179$ on an already purchased iPod, ugh, Apple is losing its magic touch.

If you do not want spending another $180 for the iPod, then you might as well buy a new Classic since the problem on your sister's video won't fix itself unless you send it to Apple after you do everything that says in the Troubleshooting page.

How do I move all of my iPod Shuffle contents to my iPod 30gb video?

Aren't all the songs in your iTunes library? If so, just plug in the iPod.

  • IPod 30gb video randomly pausing...anyone know why?

My 30gb video will randomly pause and will only unpause if I hit the play/pause button. Anyone have a suggestion?

When you unplug your headphones the iPod automatically pauses, so it could be a problem with your headphones or possibly a faulty headphone jack. Try a different pair of headphones.

  • CompUSA USB 2.o Card, iTunes 7.02, iPod with Video Problem

I just purchased a new 80 gig iPod with video and had to upgrade my MDD Duak 1 Ghz for USB 2.0, as transfer in USB 1 takes far too long. I purchased a card from CompUSA (SKU 304244) which adds two external ports only. When I attempt to transfer files into the iPod it seems to function at the faster speed, but will then freeze on a file, not allowing me to eject the iPod or sometimes to even force quit iTunes. I have tried this several times and there is no consistency regarding how many files have transferred or their size as to when the freeze will occur.
I originally tried this without adding a driver (using OS X 10.4.8), then I added the one from the included disc - same results. I then re-installed the 10.4.8 updater thinking this might have a more recent driver, but things are still the same.
I don't have any other USB 2 devices to use to test the card.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not all of the USB2 PCI cards out there are completely compatible with Mac as they claim to be.
I tried a two-port IOGear card that had that same problem.
Replace it with a 5 port (1 internal and 4 external) Belkin and it works just fine.
Someone has had a list somewhere of the ones that work best. I know that Belkin is one of the good brands to buy for loading a video iPod on a PowerMac. There are others, though.
You might find more on it in the video iPod board.

  • Ipod 30gb Video not recognised and crashes computer while connected

any ideas please would be gratfeully received

I too have a 30GB 5G iPod that crashes my computer. It is not recognized by XP and is not recognized by iTunes either. I changed USB ports, tried the Updater (Updater never worked since the computer did not recognize the iPod), uninstalled/reinstalled iTtunes, rolled back the registry to several days earlier, disabled antivirus software, etc. I have so much practice resetting the iPod I can now do it blindfolded. I have also tried the iPod on another computer with exactly the same results, but an iPod Nano works flawlessly. There seems to be no other remedy except to send the thing back but the Apple phones are jammed and I can't get through.
A quick search of this forum shows many other similar problems with 5th genertion iPods. What a disappointing purchase!!

  • Ipod 30gb video

i have a 30gb video ipod. if i shut it off(hold the play/pause button until it shuts down) and try to start it up again it will come up with an error or freze up on me.
now i just tryed to start it up and it said it has a very low battery. if i plug it into power it brings up the apple then goes to the sad ipod and tells me to goto ipod support...and it keeps bringing up the apple and the icon. does anyone know what i should do??
and now with it connected to wall outlet it has a battery icon that has a ! on it that follows the sad ipod
??? if anyone knows anything plz help

    See these troubleshooting articles.
    My iPod is sad.
What does this picture on my iPod mean?
Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

  • IPod 30GB Video Cases

    Hey-
I got a "Griffin" iClear case yesterday for Christmas for my also Christmas gift (30GB video iPod)...my iPod that I got is in black, which makes perfect sense having the clear case. My question is I don't know much about iPod accessories whether they be from Apple or this aftermarket company "Griffin". Are Griffin products just as high quality as the Apple accessories, or would you suggest I make an exchange and get an Apple case instead? I was browsing the clear cases directly from Apple and there seems to be many different types of clear cases, so that kinda throws me off as to which one to get, verses going the Griffin way, there just seems to be one clear case.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

Hi, I also use the invisible shield (for the black 30 GB video ipod) and after trying multiple other cases, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's completely protected with a clear shield from scratches and the like, but doesn't look like it has anything on it! You can also dock your ipod and plug it into a car fm transmitter dock without removing the shield.
They are a bit pricy at $25, but they cover the entire iPod and have a lifetime guarantee. Even if you have to have your iPod serviced and need to take off the shield, Shieldzone will send you a brand new one to reapply for only $3 (to cover shipping).
You can find them on Shieldzone's website... http://www.shieldzone.com/
You also have options there...there are two kinds you can buy for the ipod - a screen shield at $11 or a full body shield which covers the entire ipod at $25 (I would recommend the later). Also, if this is something you do decide to buy, make sure to watch the tutorial at Shieldzone on how to apply it. While it comes with instructions, the tutorial video is much more helpful and will keep you from making a mistake that you'll regret later when applying it.
    Hope this helps.

i raplaced the lcd screen on my 30gb ipod video and there is still no backlight (this was the initial problem that i was replacing the screen for).. any ideas what i should do here?

  • Ipod 30Gb Video=Broke

A few weeks ago my 30gb Ipod video stopped working. The problem was that the screen had stopped working although the backlight still worked. When I turn on my Ipod, it turns on normally but there is nothing on the screen (the back light is still on) and nothing works. When I click the menu or play button I hear the clicker but the ipod does nothing. When I hold the menu button and play to reset the ipod, sometimes it works but there is no screen and I have to choose music by own memory because I cannot see what I am doing. Help?
Ive always had problems with my ipods even though I treat them with lots of care. They never last over a year :/

From my own experience with 5th generation iPods, I would say that has a defective screen. Obviously it's hard to say without running some diagnostics, but if I had to say it was something, I would put the blame on the screen. Luckily, that's a pretty inexpensive repair when compared to the other repairs for 5th generation iPods.
You could send it to a third party repair company... prices typically range from $60 to $100 for screen replacements. At my own repair company, we charge $65.00 for 5th generation LCD replacements, including return shipping to you.

  • Ipod 30gb Video all screwed up

My ipod has been acting up as of late, problems sometimes with not recognizing it, but I would try it again and it would work. NOW, it wont recognize it at all and EVERYTHING is gone from my ipod. It shows 27g capacity, but only 17g avail. I had over 2200 songs and 20 videos on it and I need a way to fix this.

Have you tried just Restoring it in iTunes ?? This should fix the problems you encounter.
    Hope this works,
    Darie.

  • I need to get music from ipod 30gb video on to new pc as old pc has died

After spending about a month converting CD's onto itunes and then on to 30gb pod video my laptop hard drive got hit by a virus and I lost everything. The ipod is still fully loaded but I can't work out how to get tracks off of it and on to my new laptop - Any ideas how I do it? The new PC recognises the ipod but won't let me drag tracks across to itunes playlists. I really don't want to have to spend another month getting all my cds on to itunes in order to play around with playlists so any help much appreciated.
    Thanks

There's plenty of third-party software that makes this easier.
    Try Yamipod.

  • How do I get my Canon Digital Ixus films on my Ipod 30GB Video?

    Hi
I tried to "drag" one of my home made videos to my library in Itunes today, but it won't allow it, even though the videos are playable using Quicktime.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong.
Also, I've just bought a new Laptop, and wanted to transfer the music I already have on the Ipod to the Laptop to save manually updating the Ipod. Anyone have a simple solution?
    Thanks

yes, it does make a difference. there are only a few programs that do convert files to the format neccessary to view on an iPod. quicktime pro is one of them, and is actually the only one that i have found that actually converts the file. with higher resolution video this process can take a long time. there are others that will record the video and audio signal and write a file that is veiwable on an iPod.
    so the choice is yours.
