Ipod 3g dead, won't charge, black screen

How can I bring this ipod touch back to life?  Black screen no matter how long I hold down any button.  When I connect to the computer, itunes doesn't recognize it.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod is dead, will not charge, nothing comes up on screen?

After leaving the Nano to charge for a minimum of of 30 minutes, try to reset it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
You'll also want to make sure the hold switch is not in the ON position.

  • IPod Shuffle 3G won't charge, or do anything.

My iPod Shuffle 3G won't charge, connect to my Mac or give me any sign that it's working. I used it about two weeks ago and it was working but now it is not responding to any thin I do. When I plug it in to my computer it never shows up on my iTunes and when it's plugged in all it does is get hot after a few minutes so I unplug it because I know that's not good. I tried to see if it would show up under Disk Utilities but no luck. I am thinking that there is no hope for this $80 paper weight but I just want to know that I have done all that I can. If someone knows how I can fix it then please tell me other wise I am done wasting my time trying to fix it. It is also out of warranty by a month so I can't take it in to get fixed by Apple.

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
I suspect you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod touch 4g won't charge

Hello,my iPod touch 4g is fairly new but for some reason it just won't charge. I replaced it the 1st time back in April, because it was very cracked and I got a new one but this one isn't working that well. When I plug in the ipod it shows the red low battery sign and the lightning sign but when I leave it on the usb charger to charge its still on the low battery sign with the lightning under. I've tried to reset, but when I do the screen flashes white and shows the same red low battery sign and the lightning sign. After that I tried to restore and it itunes recognizes the ipod trying to restore itself and the screen turns a bright white, and then the apple logo comes up. After that, the apple logo flashes off and the same red low battery signal with the lightning symbol shows up and I get error 3194 or 1604. I've tried using more than one computer and more than one usb plug. I don't know what to do anymore please help me.

Have you tried the actions specified in the following for the specific error codes you received?

  • IPod Touch 3rd generation stuck on black screen

I was using it and it was fine then an hour later i went to go on it again and it was just a black screen. I tried plugging it into the charger, reseting it and everything.  When I plugged it into iTunes an error message popped up saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)" then I pressed ok and another message popped up saying "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone ""  because an invalid response was recieved from the device". Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Try:
'iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting
iTunes cannot connect to the iPhone because an invalid response received from the device: This error occurs when there are problems communicating through USB. This may be resolved by following the steps for errors 13 or 14, below.
Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

This is my sons iPod touch and this is what it shows. There is the iPod logo in the upper left hand corner and what I think is signal for wifi and then in the middle is a half moon and the right side is the battery icon. My iPad was at 73% when I took a walk earlier it was hooked up to the charger, the screen was off, and nothing could've happened to it. Once I came back home my iPad was completely dead and wouldn't turn back on. I've tried the 2 button method and it hasn't worked. Nothing has worked, it's still not turning on and it's been doing this for 3 hours now. I've had my iPad since I was 13, I'm 16 now and really don't need it having to be comepletely reset. Too many memories to lose. Please, somebody help me?

    Hi, summer.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your iPad will not power on.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through for this issue.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on
Keep in mind that the step referencing Forced Recovery will wipe your data, so verify if you have a backup via the second article below.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes
    Cheers,
    Jason H.
