Ipod 3rd gen nano syncing problems.

My nano 3rd gen is fine, but when I plug it into Itunes, it says it's syncing, but on the ipod, it shows connected, but it was done syncing, and Itunes apparently can't finish syncing, even though the ipod shows completion. I can't add any songs either. Please assist me in this matter.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to sync using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

  • Loading songs on ipod 3rd gen nano without itunes

is there a way to get songs onto the new Ipod 3rd gen nano 8GB without using Itunes? I have tried Xplay 2.3.5 and the playlist is all messed up. It would show all the songs in my hard drive on every single playlist created, even the On-the-Go list. I would hate to use Anapod because of they limited activation status. Itune is slow, and too restrictive for me. I hate itune with a passion. So does anyone know a way to get songs onto this ipod properly with Xplay or another good program? I have tried everything i know and I am able to throw this thing against the wall. thank you in advance!

I feel your pain. I have been fighting iTunes and QuickTime for 2 weeks trying to get it so that it does not interrupt my wireless USB connection when ejecting the Nano. A simple solution would be to use another program to manage the syncing of stuff to the iPod.

  • Ipod 3rd Gen Nano Skipping?

So I have a 3rd Gen Ipod Nano. I only used it once for a couple weeks about two years ago, I erased all the music off of it and put it back in it's case never to see the light of day until a couple of days ago. I decided to bring it back out of it's factory case, and while it's an older model, it's still in pristine condition. I plugged it into the computer and had a couple of problems trying to install the most update ipod software onto the Nano, but evenually I got it on there. I uploaded about 60 songs and took it to the park the first song played fine then all of a sudden it begins to cut off in the middle of songs and skips completely over others. It does this for ALL songs, indescriminately it seems. I've tried quite a bit of different things...
-Deleting & Reuploading the songs onto the Ipod
-Deleting & Reuploading the songs into Itunes and then onto the Ipod
-Converting the files into AAC copies
-Automatically allowing files over 128bps to convert to AAC
    -Multiple Restores
-Ensuring I have the latest updated software
-Uploading songs and doing restores on itunes from different computers with different operating systems (I tried all of this on Windows 8 as well as Windows XP)
I don't know what the deal is? It's flash software so it shouldn't have hard disk-like problems. What gives?

I don't make duplicates when I have this problem. I uncheck the song in iTunes, connect the iPod. This takes the songs off of the iPod. Then I disconnect the iPod. Check the songs in iTunes, then reconnect the iPod. This put the songs back on the iPod.
It usually works, but my iPod has been messing up so much lately that I've had to do a factory restore and when the songs get put back on the iPod a ton of different songs are skipping. It's driving me crazy.

  • Touch 3rd Gen. Syncing Problem/Can't Download Latest iTunes

to preface these are the software/devices I have....
    iPod Touch 3rd Generation 4.0.2
    iTunes 9.2.1
    Safari 4.1.1
    Mac OS X 10.4.11
    PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz PowerPC
    So the Problem.....
I hadn't connected my iPod Touch to sync it in maybe 4 days and decided this morning (9/2/10) to do so. I opened iTunes, turned on my Touch, and connected them. As usual iPhoto popped up and started to import photos from my Touch to my PowerBook and after that was done I expected my Touch to appear in iTunes and begin syncing as always. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.
I went thru the basic, "Look for your device in the File drop down." and it's not there either.
So, I went to apple support to troubleshoot (http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/#section_1) and here is where I get really frustrated.....
According to apple troubleshoot I need to have Mac OS X version 10.4.11 or later (no problem, I have 10.4.11) and I need the latest version of iTunes (PROBLEM!!!). See, to get the latest version of iTunes I need Mac OS X version 10.5 or later. So why is it that to have my Touch 3rd Gen connect to iTunes I need to have OS X 10.4.11, but to get the latest version of iTunes required I need OS X 10.5?
If this issue isn't resolved swiftly then apple will be receiving a VERY ****** OFF EMAIL.

I don't think your problem has anything to do with the iTunes version. First, if it worked yesterday, it should work today, unless you had upgraded your ipod firmware (but I don't think it's possible to do this without first upgrading iTunes). Secondly, as far as I know, OS X 10.5 is a paid upgrade. If that's the case, Apple couldn't possibly expect everyone to buy the upgrade or be unable to use their ipods ever again. When they say you need the latest version of iTunes, they mean "the latest version for the operating system on your computer", not "the latest version that it is possible to have". I just upgraded iTunes to 9.2.1 this week, even though 10 is available for other systems.
I think there are 2 possible causes for your problem:
    1) Your iTunes became corrupted somehow (which happens from time to time with software). In this case, just re-install the version you have (download it online) or upgrade to a newer version (in iTunes, click Help > Check for upgrades).
    2) Your ipod or computer has a hardware problem, possibly with the USB cable or ports. You can try syncing with a different USB port or cable (and in the last resort, a different computer) to see what happens. Otherwise, a technician might be needed.
    Good luck.

    Hi there,
I'd suggest first resetting the iPod (check the online manual for that) and then restoring the latest software using iTunes.
    Good luck!

  • Updating Ipod 3rd gen nano without itunes

I am trying to update the nano to V1.0.1. I have seen a 57MB v.1.0.1 of the new nano in articles, but when I go to the apple site, all i see is a link to download itunes. I do not want to install itunes for the only purpose of updating the nano. is there way to download just the update: iPod Nano (3rd Generation) software updated to v1.0.1.

This is becoming a bigger and bigger deal as we get updates with NEW bugs. We need Apple to do one of two things:
    1) Offer a LIST of updates (old/new) to restore in iTunes
    2) Offer a standalone updater (preferable) like I used to use with my Mini

  • Issues with New Ipod 3rd Gen Nano!! Please help!!

    HELP!!!
I bought a new IPOD Nano for Xmas and it doesn't appear to be working.
It automatically syncs once then appears to completely disconnect, so when you then try to "apply" new settings or re-sync it fails.
I checked on "My Computer" and for the first few mins it appears as an external drive, then once again completely disappears.
This means I can't change any settings on how I want my IPOD to sync., for example adding new films that were previously unchecked...
    Hope this makes sense!!
Has anyone else had any issues like this? Is there an easy way of solving this?
I've tried updating the software (which now says is uptodate) and resetting the factory settings.
I'd appreciate all the help I can get on this

  • HT1399 problem with playlist sync of  ipod nano 3rd gen will sync new pieces of music but it won't sync a new playlist I added and it has "lost" one I had before. Any ideas why?

Since I got the last update of itunes, my 3rd gen will sync new pieces of music but it won't sync a new playlist I created and it has "lost" one I had before. Any ideas why and what I can do to cure the problem?

if you have done restores then possibly it is a firmware issue... i would take it to the apple store if you can to get it looked at...

  • Ipod Nano (3rd gen) not syncing with Microsoft Outlook 2007

I previously upgraded computers and now I can't sync my ipod with my outlook calendar. I upgraded to 2007. Any ideas? I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts or help. Thanks.

iTunes 11 won't even recognize my 1st and 3rd gen nanos. They've just rendered all the devices I love useless.
You can send feedback on the upgrade here:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html. I'm hoping enough legacy iPod users will speak up that they'll rethink and/or fix it.

  • Pictures in iPhoto not syncing with 3rd gen Nano

Hi, I posted this in the iPod discussions area also but thought someone here may have the answer.
Hi all. When I go to sync pictures in iPhoto to my 4gig 3rd gen Nano, not all the picture are recognized. One album with 30 pics in it, only 3 are synced. this is happening in iTunes even before I hit the sync button. I have 1650 pictures in the total library but only 1495 are seen by iTunes and the Nano. Any thoughts ? thanks in advance.

    I confirm this problem.
Since I have a iPod Classic and for a few days a iPod nano 3rd gen, I can pre-sets station on the 80GB and not on the nano.
I suspect that the problem is not coming from the radio accessory but the nano.

  • Clickwheel games quit syncing to my 3rd Gen Nano...

I recently restored my 3rd gen nano and resynced all my media.
For some reason, my clickwheel games will no longer sync.  I've done the following:
Ensured that my computer is authorized
Made sure I've selected "Sync Games" and selected each of my 3 games to by synced.
Before I sync, I see in the Capacity bar that the games are there.
After I sync, the games section of the Capacity bar disappears, as does "Games" from the color legend just below the bar.
I tried restoring again tonight, with the same results.  To retry, and uncheck "Sync Games", sync, recheck "Sync Games, sync.  Same results.  I also reset my warnings, and am not seeing any.
I've had these 3 games on this same ipod for years.  Not sure why they've decided not to sync any longer.
I'm syncing with Itunes 10.4.1.10 on Windows 7.  My ipod software is up to date.
    Any ideas?

Why can't you add them?  What happens when you try?  How is your iPod configured to sync podcasts?

  • My iPod Touch 3rd Gen is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

My iPod Touch (3rd Gen) is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. It varies between not responding when I tap the screen and acting as if I double-tap or tap and hold when I tap. Every so often it freezes for a minute or so and then comes back. The scren is constantly changing sizes too such that I often can't see most of the top status bar or other edges. This makes typing almost impossible, ruins most games and generally makes everything difficult, but otherwise the iPod is working correctly. Powering off, shutting down apps, letting it sit have not worked. This has happened once before months ago, but the issue resolved itself somehow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

    Try this for the freezing

Or if they don't work put it into recovery mode
    See here

    Then restore

  • I recently purchased Windows 8 laptop and installed Office 2013. I then installed iTunes. After moving all my music to the new PC, I got iTunes to import it and sync it to my iPod (3rd gen).  However, I cannot get iTunes to sync my Outlook Contacts

I recently purchased a Windows 8 laptop and istalled Office 2013.  I then installed iTunes. After moving all my music to my new PC I got iTunes to import it, and then synced it to my iPod (3rd gen.) However, I cannot get iTunes to sync my Outlook Calendar or Contacts with my iPod.  When I try it crashes Outlook.  iTunes continues to try to sync, but when it finishes my Calendar and Contents are empty (ERASED!).  I have de-installed and re-installed iTunes (according to Apple's instructions), repaired Office 2013 and Outlook, scanned for viruses (etc), cleaned out temp folders, defragmented, etc., etc., etc. Has anyone seen this before, and does anyone know houw to fix it?  (HELP!)

Well, I guess I have to download some other software to make my apple product work. Really great stuff you guys sell. I will never buy another apple product. My Iphone, Ipod and Itunes are junk
