Ipod 4 gen black mark in corner of screen, why is this?

Why does my 4 day old i pod touch 4 th gen have a black mark in the corner of the screen

Could you have dropped the iPod or place a lot of force on that corner?
Is the mark on a viewable part of the screen?
You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and have it checked out..

My ipod is smashed and i need to get a new screen, my ipod is currently black, when i get my screen fixed would i be able to change it into a white one? and if so how much would it cost?

First: Apple does not replace screens or repair mobile devices in any way. They will replace the device.
Second: No. You will get the same model you had before.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Bb screen gone complety white with black mark in corner not been dropped can i fix this at home??

put my phone into my mouth today it didnt get wet, but the screen has gone blank, its white with a black mark in the corner i can still recive calls but cant see anything, can i fix this at home mums gonna go mentall (y)

Reset the iPad and see if that fixes it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't do it, you may want to consider restoring the device and if that doesn't work - you probably need to get Apple involved and let a genius take a look.

  • My ipod 5th gen blacked out

My ipod 5th gen has blacked out and i know you have to press home button & lock button to reboot it but my home button is spoilt.
I couldnt connect it to itunes or my laptop and nothing was detected.
I tried recboot but failed because nothing was detected.
Leaving it to charge at the wall socket didnt help either because nothing lit up.
I have tried forcing my home button even if i know it is already spoilt, still to no avail.
I have tried to clean dirt off the button, didnt work.
Is  my last resort going to an Apple store and spend perhaps hundreds of dollars just to fix this when i know i just need to press 2 buttons tgt
Furthermore, my warranty expired. That *****.. I am on the verge of breaking down because my ipod is literally my life. I use it more than my Samsung phone, gosh
    Please assist me. Thank you.

So usually, repairing it will definitely solve the problems right? I am still a student and I really hope having it fixed one time will do the trick.
Also, should i just repair the home button and reboot myself? Or repair both the home button and blacked out screen (to save cost)?

  • Watching Movies: iPod to TV- black and white and split screen. Help?

    I have this cable: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2994604
As you can see, the chord colors on that cable are red, green, and white. The places where the chords go in on my DVD player are yellow, red, and white. As you can tell, they don't go up. I connected them so the audio works fine, but the movie shows up ONLY in black and white, and the screen is split right down the middle. On my iPod, the 'Video Setting' do not fix this. I also have the iPod Classic 80 GB, for reference.
    Help?

  • Ipod 4th gen! - stuck determing gapless playback info.-  why?

After several restores trying to get my ipod 4th gen. click wheel going (after installing iTunes 7 and the ipod becoming extremely buggy afterwards...) running diagnostic tests, etc., it turns out that the problem seems to be that every time I plug the ipod into my computer iTunes 7 tells me its "determing gapless playback information" which takes forever.
Of course, I thought that this gapless feature was only for newer iPod models so I'm puzzled why iTunes is doing this for my older model? Also it seems to have broken the playback when using the iPod - playback drops out in the middle of songs for instance.
I've now installed Linux on my iPod and Podzilla is playing back my files just fine, when I try with Apple's software - totally broken and disappointing.
Anybody know what's up? Are we waiting for Apple to release a fix for this? Why is my 4th Gen. apparently attempting the gapless playback?

his is not operating system-specific, but I want to get it on the record somewhere since I could not find the solution anywhere else.
Last week, my third-generation 30GB iPod refused to go beyond the Apple logo on startup. It would power up, flash as if trying to go to the menu, but instead it would just show the Apple again. I tried all the usual recovery methods: resetting (hundreds of times and a couple of different ways), disk scans from the diagnostic menu, restoring with the latest iPod software and with an older version, fsck, using Disk Utility to repair and erase, Disk Warrior, letting the battery drain, everything.
Nothing worked ... until I used Disk Utility to reformat the disk with the "Zero Out Data" option (in the Security pop-up) enabled. This, apparently, reformatted the drive in such a way as to account for bad sectors. It took about an hour.
After that, I restored it with the latest iPod software, and to my delight, it booted normally. It now works fine.

  • My ipod 4th gen went onto a blank white screen and turned off. what should i do?

My iPod 4th gen was dead so I charged it, the apple sign appeared and stayed on the screen for about 10 minutes then went onto a blank white screen and turned off. Now I can't charge it and it has already happened multiple times. what should I do? I also don't know which iOS operating system it is, does that matter?

  • Exclamation marks prevent CD burning. Why is this happening?

    Hello:
    Here's the problem...
When I bring up a Smart Playlist to burn to CD (R or R+W), the following happens:
    1. If I uncheck a few songs, the exclamation mark shows up and won't go away.
    2. When I insert the blank CD, most of the songs get hit with the exclamation mark. When I click for more info, it tells me that the song is not recognized. It also tells me to play the song, but iTunes won't let me play it.
    3. When I restart iTunes, all the exclamation marks are gone, but as soon as I insert a blank CD, the above happens all over again.
    4. The thing is, 99% of my music on iTunes has been downloaded from my CD collection, so there should be no issues with security.
    What gives?
My iPod, which is still under warranty, and is working fine and will download from iTunes...even tracks that are saddld with the exclamation mark.

    Matthew,
The problem is that when I try play the song/tune/file that has the exclamation mark, iTunes skips right over it, sometimes adding exclamation marks to a whole bunch of songs.
The marked songs go away if I close and reopen iTunes. They also copy to my iPod, but if I try to play the files, the marks retuen.
It's weird that this happens to random files/artists. And all have been downloaded from my original music CDs.
(FYI: it doesn't seem to happen with podcasts.)

  • IPod 2nd Gen Black Screen 3/4 battery no reset, no return, help??!!

The other night I was playing Brick, then put the 4Gig-2nd gen Nano in my pocket (with 3/4 battery power still left), then took it out to play again, a half hour later. I got a black screen, no reponse. I tried resetting it based on some of the recommendations in this forum - no good. I got it last Christmas - does it know when it's 11 months old? My son's (2!) 20Gig 2nd-gen iPods also died at around 11 months. I don't have any return options like your other posters.
I bought a battery replacement kit - should I install it?

  • IPod 1st gen - black screen except for 5 seconds when charging

    Hi everyone !,
I am having an issue with my iPod Touch 1st generation bought in December 2007.
this week-end i've decided i'd work under my house for some technical reasons i will not explain here..
i've been listenning some music, and realized my battery was almost dead.
i've so decided to go upstairs pick up the power charger and plug my ipod.
    all went fine...
worked for couple of hours until i was done,
i've unplugged the ipod, then came back in, did some stuff in the garage for an hour or so, and decided i wanted to listen to music again, and then.. the ipod did not react to the on-off button as well to the home button.
when i unplugged it from the power charger, i saw the battery was 3/4 charged. i've so decided to wait until the evening to check it out and kept on working in between.
the evening, i plugged the ipod onto the computer > no reaction
plugged it onto the charger the screen lighted on, logo, then the light goes off, but i seem to see the apple logo in the back like "printed" on the screen then disappearing. i 've tried soft reset, hard-reset... nothing works... i've put it in recovery mode to erase/restore from both my mac and my PC, itunes detects it in recovery mode even if the screen remains black, try to restore but it fails, error code 1601.
i am fearing it simply died ... but i am anyway seeking for any piece of advice in case of... even if i was thinking getting an iPhone 4S, that'd be pitty if my iPod bought 4 years ago just dies before Xmas...
thanking in advance all mac-gifted people who would have any piece of usefull advice.
    Cheers,
    Nicolas.
PS: while thinking about it, iOS 3.something was installed months ago...
