Ipod 4th g messed up in a prank and it wasnt my fault

i rececntly was at band camp this past week and while i was there some other campers in my quad thought it would be funny to take my ipod and plastic wrap it and put it in jello. that whole day i was looking for my ipod asking if they had seen it, they gave me the ipod in a bowl of jello. as soon as i got back to my lodge i sat the ipod infront of a fan. not to mention that they had the ipod sitting in the jello over night in the fridge if that has anything to do with it. the ipod worked just about all week except that the speakers didnt work and the up volume button worked as a lock button for some odd reason. that was tuesday and today is sunday i sat the ipod in rice lastnight and it worked this morning untill it said it had a low batter then it cut off. i came back this after noon to see if it would charge after being in the rice. the ipod woukdnt turn on when charged or even when it was plugged into the computer...what would apple be able to do because it wasnt my fault that the ipod was put in the jello.

Why would fault have anything to do with it?
Damage is not covered by warranty, no matter who is at fault.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My ipod 4th generation is stuck on recovery mode and is stuck on the screen that says to connect to the itunes store. I already tried using a non-damaged cable and connecting it to itunes, but the ipod is not showing up as a device on my computer or on itunes. I cant fix the recovery screen until i can coinnect it to itunes... so does someone have any suggestions?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

My Ipod 4th generation is almost unresponsive to my touch, and will not allow lockscreen access, and also is stuck on the "Not enough Storage" button. When I try to get rid of it, it does nothing. My ipod's power button, volume buttons, and home screen button all work, and I can still use my start/stop headphones to listen to music. How do I fix this?

  • IPod 4th Gen power button broken, game center and some apps won't load.

iPod 4th generation, iOS 6.1.6, power button is broken (will not click at all, I can't let my iPod run out of battery because I won't be able to turn it back on).
Game center, and some of my apps will not load.
I also have issues with apps and Safari crashing, but that isn't a major problem.
For the apps not loading, I've tried deleting them, and then reinstalling them, but it didn't work.
Is there anything I can do about this?

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
For Safari problem try going to Settings>Safari and Clear Cookies<data and History.
To turn on an iPod without a Power button just connect the iPod to a charging source

  • IPod 4th gen messed up from ios6 update

I tried updating my 4th gen ipod touch the other day. In the middle of the update it went into recovery mode, so i tried plugging it into itunes and restoring it. in the middle of this, it went to the apple screen and is frozen. it keeps restarting and itunes wont recognize it. ive tried restoring it like 3 times.. help?

argh, i was gonna say thank god i aint alone, but then i realised you guys probably still havent resolved the issues. iv got a 4th generation ipod as well. its been fine and then like a month ago songs started skipping by themselves and then the ipod would randomly freeze. its gotten to the point now that songs hardly ever play and now i get the folder and exclamation mark logo coming up! i have tried all the "r" rule things except for the last one. my ipod is no longer recognised on my pc or my laptop either as a storage device or in itunes. each time i plug it into my pc or laptop, the ipod updater, used to restore everything reads "initializing" but freezes so i can't even restore the **** thing. hence havnt got anywhere. what should i do now?
ps as far as im aware i have kept up to date with both ipod and itunes software. if this problem is caused because of apple software then why are we having to suffer?

when i try to retrieve the songs into my library it says that my computer is connected with another apple id and that i have to wait 90 days. Do I have to wait to be able to retrieve my songs that I purchased? Do I have to wait all the time when I purchase songs from itunes? Its driving me crazy that I bought these songs and are not able to listen to them on my other apple products. Such as my ipod nano 4th generation, and my iphone 4. Your help is appreciated, thank you.

    Hey renie1515,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
When you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90-day timer. You must wait 90 days from the day the device was first associated with your Apple ID before it can be associated with another Apple ID.
    Have a nice day,

  • IPod 4th Gen has white screen after replacement, and restore

Okay. Here's the problem. A while ago, I dropped my iPod, and it's screen cracked. I've been living with it ever since perfectly, but just with a cracked screen. Now, I ordered a new screen, and I begin to replace it. I knew how, and like an easy job, I did it pretty quick compared to others. After both ribbon cables where in, I pressed the lock button, and my iPod had a white screen. I was a little worried about that, so, I tried to reattach the screen. Now it was just black, after even using the home and lock button restart method. Eventually I got it back up and to the white screen by draining the battery and recharging, and there I was again, stuck. I looked at some forums on the internet to try to see if anyone had my problem. After clicking on the first link, it turns out, alot of people had this problem as well as me. The solution they said was pressing the home button and lock button for about 10 or so seconds, and then it goes to the apple screen and is all better again. I tried it, and my home button broke. Great. So, now I had to use the little button that the home button was pressing down to try the solution. Tried it, and, nothing. Still the blank, plain, white screen. Looked some more and saw that pressing the home and lock buttons along with the volume up button worked for some people too. Tried it, worked just as good as the previous one. Nothing. I even tried some person's idea of doing home, then volume up, then lock, in different timed stages. Nothing. I also saw people begging for them not to restore their iPods and begging for a solution. I was fine with a restore, I just had games that I played on my iPhone as well. So, I went with it, and restored it, without any backups, just going to factory mode. Afterwards I heard my iPod make the iOS "plugged in" sound, and anxiously tried the lock button. Still had the white screen. STILL. Now, I'm here, begging for a solution like others, with an iPod that won't function properly. Can someone please help me?

No nothing like that happened, I'm sure, but I actually spent the day looking for a fix. Luckily, I had the idea of taping the spring down because I though the screen didn't touch it. Turns out I was right, but however, I found out that the screen I ordered was broken in a way, because it still had the white screen after the taping. Just to make sure, I tried the other screen to clarify if the taping worked or not. I did the home and lock button restart, and up popped the apple logo. So, that means that the screen I got from the seller was either a rip-off, or was just broken somehow in process of making, or delivering in some matter. Unfortunately, I think I can't ship it back unless for alot of money because the person I got it from comes from China. I live in the USA. So that's gonna be a matter to work with myself. Thank you for trying to help.

  • IPod 4th gen model: MD057LL/A cannot erase and apps don't work

I just got the device as part of a trade
On the outside its in brand new condition
But the software is a different story
Safari doesn't work, like at all, it either just freezes or if I try long enough I can get it to crash immediately
Mail does the same but whatever I honestly wish you could remove the forced apps
I can erase all network/keyboard etc settings and It works but data content wipe doesn't
BIGGEST issue: I can't erase the iPod where it says "erase all content and settings"
    And I can't update from iOS 6.1.5 to 6.1.6
Which worries me that more software issues can occur down the road
Or that the iPod could be probed but that's a different topic lol
When I attempt to erase all content and data it goes to the black loading screen but the bar does nothing then it goes to the loading circle
And I left it waiting for a solid 6 hours before resetting
And when I try to in iTunes it just says its waiting to update to 6.1.6, infinitely
When I attempt to update it, it does the update to finish then says "an error has occurred" and offers to close or go to settings
And when I try to on iTunes it just says its loading, and nothing else even when I leave it plugged in over night
Is there anything else I can try?
Maybe 3rd party software to force the update/data wipe? That's my only idea at this point

Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be updated too

  • So, I have had the Ipod 4th generation for about a year now, and I have never had any trouble adding music onto my ipod until this latest version of itunes came out. Now, I cannot add any more music onto my ipod! I Have grayed out songs that I can't play

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

  • My iPod 4th generation keeps crashing on every games and it makes me mad because I payed for the games.

I really don't know what do do I want to use my apps but my iPod keeps crashing

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates:
    - a hardware problem if it happens with many apps
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    - If problem on only one  app that indicates a problem with that app.

  • My iPod (4th generation 64GB) won't turn on and my home button doesn't work.

I left my phone for a minute or two and when I came back it wouldn't turn on. I know it's fully charged from this morning and my friend told me to turn it on by using the home button and the power button but my home button was already broken from a long time ago.I try plugging it to iTunes and i was able to connect to it. But It still doesn't turn on. What do i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
