my ipod is frozen on the connect to ipod screen

i know its been awhile since this thread was active.. but anyway ... after thinking about it some more... and still having issues .. (sorry the update was frozen /i tunes not recognise etcetcetc during 5.1 update) .. I went to the troubleshooter again... did the reset thing.. checked that windows 7 actually recognised the ipod was there... then I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE TROUBLESHOOTER PROPERLY and decided to actually follow its advice fully... and UNPLUGGED any OTHER USB devices regardless of me knowing "it couldnt possibly be that!!" .. plugged in the ipod only... result.. within 10 seconds the restore screen was available and i could get the process started.... its just like waaaaaaaaaaay back in "the good old days" when RTFM and device conflicts were rife...
unplug the extra USB devices people... nothing will blow up without them for a few mins!!

  • Ipod shows folder w/ ! and computer wont recognize

sorry if this has been posted on before... I checked the first 5 pages and didn't see anything,
My ipod shows the folder and I followed all of the trouble ideas on the web site but none worked. Even in disk mode the computer did not recognize it. I have no access to my music and my ipod is making wierd sounds through the actual evice, not the head phones.
HELP!!! I have no idea what is wrong and the website has no information on this problem!
p.s. i went to an apple store for help and they told me to schedule an appointment online to bring it in to the store...i have looked for hours and cant find a way to do this. i think they were lying to me.

    Chelsea,
    Try the steps here.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod
However, from what you describe, it sounds like the iPod requires service.
    iPod Service Request.
Btw, just a friendly heads up. You may want to change the wording of your computer profile before the Mods see it.

my ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPodin recovery mode use this prgram.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod has a black screen and when you press the power button nothing happens. Also when you plug it in the the computer or wall nothing happens.

My iPod was plugged in over night. When I woke up in the morning it had a black screen and wouldn't turn on at all. Also it doesn't say that its charging when it's plugged in and when plugged into the computer nothing comes up like it did before.

Reset it by holding the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider if it appears first), then release.  You won't lose any data by doing this.

  • IPod 4th gen's screen was glitching, now the screen is half white, but still works.

Hello everybody! I couldn't find the solution to my problem anywhere on Google so here I am and I really, really hope you guys can help me.
My iPod 4th gen has been acting up lately. Last night, the screen kept flickering and glitching. This happened the first week I got my iPod, but it stopped after a bit and it never happened again until now. I thought this glitching would stop after a bit, but this morning, I still found my iPod in the same state (if not, worse).
I think the problem is yesterday I plugged my iPod into my laptop and none of the USB ports could pick up my iPod so I plugged it into my ancient computer to see if there was something wrong with my cord, but my computer was able to pick up my iPod and so I left it there to charge. I also downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto that computer because the iTunes on that one was really old. After, I plugged it back into my laptop and it worked again. What I'm thinking is that maybe the computer did something faulty to my iPod and messed it up. I think that's what happened the first time also when my brother used my old iPod nano charger (had it for five years) to use it to charge my iTouch.
Anyways, my iPod now has a white screen in the middle and I can't see anything at the bottom, but the first half of the screen is still visible. Also, my iPod still works. I can click on apps, view photos, listen to music perfectly, it's just the screen is all messed up and everything is just super bright.
I've tried resetting it by holding onto the home and the on/off button but it doesn't do anything. I was hoping I wouldn't have to restore my iPod, but it looks like I have to maybe? Do you think I should let my battery completely drain and then plug into my laptop or something? Any suggestions besides dropping by the Apple store to check it?
    Thank you in advance.

I would restore the iPod. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults.
If still have the problem then you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod 4th gen top screen portion blots out

I have a 4th gen iPod touch which has it's top portion screen near the black portion when pressed gives out a blot on the pressed portion and disappears. I reported it to the authorizes premium apple reseller they came back and said it is normal. It was still under warranty when I I reported it. Please help thanks if I can report this back to apple headquarters.

  • IPod 2nd Gen Black Screen 3/4 battery no reset, no return, help??!!

The other night I was playing Brick, then put the 4Gig-2nd gen Nano in my pocket (with 3/4 battery power still left), then took it out to play again, a half hour later. I got a black screen, no reponse. I tried resetting it based on some of the recommendations in this forum - no good. I got it last Christmas - does it know when it's 11 months old? My son's (2!) 20Gig 2nd-gen iPods also died at around 11 months. I don't have any return options like your other posters.
I bought a battery replacement kit - should I install it?
