iPod 4th gen iMessage cannot open, crashes whenever I open it. I guess its because my friend jokingly messaged me a huge chunk of text ? Any ways to fix it?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Just to keep the existing software updated and running correctly without crashing.
My concern now is that as new games/apps come out i am going to get a lot more NOT SUPPORTED messages popping up.
Frankly I don't think it's fair as I spent a lot of money on my 32gb iPod and apple are now conning existing customers to line their pockets !!!!

To sign out of iMessage and Facetime, open the Settings app. Open the 'Messages' tab. At the top, you should see a toggle-switch for iMessage. If it shows iMessage as enabled, tap the toggle-switch to disable it. This should sign out of it.
Next, open the Facetime tab, and do the same.

If necessary, place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

What does this mean and what is the fix? Right now my Ipod is literally blank with nothing on it - no software, nothing. It can't turn on without downloading software.

Ipod 4th gen affected by ios6

i have had my ipod 4th gen for 11 months and recently it had started to play up and so i went to the apple store who agreed and replaced it with a new one which i was unable to pick up until the day after the launch of the new iphone as they had run out of stock. when i went home with my new ipod and it installed the ios6 and i started having problems straight away, i could not access my game centre via my user name and login details, the app store was also giving me problems where it would log me out every time i would try and view a app that i was interested in. the ipod was also running extremely slow and so i went back to the store on monday this week 3 days after new launch. they agreed that there was a problem and replaced it with another new ipod 4th gen and so i went home again and found that i still could not access the game centre and the app store was shutting back to home screen every time. i then went back to the store againg on tuesday and the guy who i had my appointment with i started to go through this issue with the game centre and he said that it is probably needs to be restored to factory settings and i said that i had the issue with the app store and he said well the appointment is only for 10 minutes. i said that i have been in 4 times in 8 days and cannot afford to keep on coming in to the city every day and so he ended up helping by restoring back to factory settings which then allowed a app that was featured to download succesfully so he figured that the problems had been fixed. when i got home i discovered that the issue was still there and have also found that there is an issue with internet connection saying not connected when it is connected, unable to send imessages to previous contact and also the battery life has become extremely poor and has needed charging twice a day at least where as i was previously able to go through the whole day with only needing to charge overnight.
now i here that there are similar issues with the new iphone and ios6 and am wondering what i can do as this is so annoying and not good enough as i now only have a further 90 day warranty which could mean i could end up with a useless ipod which has been corrupt since the changeover from my 11 month old ipod

I solved it myself by dropping the iPod repeatedly, from a height of about 2 feet. I just hit it hard against a flat surface whenever the hard drive starts giving me the Click of Death. As crazy as this sounds, it's kept the thing running!

I recently purchased an iPod 4th gen from eBay. When it arrived, it was working perfectly. It came with music pre-loaded, some of which I liked, so I tried several programs to extract the music. I ended up using iPodDisk.app, but in the process of transferring and deleting music I somehow mucked up the iPod, because iTunes demanded that I restore it.
Okay, fine. I restored it, only to discover that it required that I plug it into an AC adaptor to complete the restore! Fast-forward to today, when the adaptor arrived in the mail and I completed the restore. My iPod at first appeared to be back into prime condition.
Then I plugged it into my Mac, and nothing happened. The iPod did not recognize that it was plugged in, and neither iTunes nor PathFinder recognized it. (I tried opening Finder, and it didn't recognize the iPod, either.) I then hooked it up to my Windows desktop; no dice. So I tried a reset; no change. I tried forcing it into Disk Mode, and had to deal with the "Okay to Disconnect" message of death for a while before I could reset it again. Now the iPod seems to be working fine, with the exception of its inability to interface with any computer!
I'm thinking of ordering a new USB cable, as some of the casing on the iPod end has been stripped off, so perhaps the cable has been compromised. (Unfortunately I don't have another iPod to test it with.) Assuming the result is the same with another USB cable, what might the problem be, and how might I fix it?

Does anyone know why after i got the iOS 6.0 update on my iPod 4th gen that the app store crashes within 5 seconds of opening it???
Also its supposed to be the best software out, i think its cra p all of my apps crash and the iPod freezes and lags all the time... If theres a solution can someone help me out please because im really dissapointed about the so called "best apple sftware yet"...

Try a manual install (using DFU mode), as outlined in the link below.

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem! My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar. When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over! I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good. I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work! The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated! I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing! I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos,since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol. Ipod 4th gen. sync problems.

I have an ipod 4th gen.
I was upgrading it to the 5.0.1 software, everything went well until i tried to restore it from the backup.
The apps synced okay, but when the music and videos were syncing i got an error message.
Now i cannot sync any music or videos to my ipod touch.
The media is still in my itunes account, i just cannot get it onto my ipod.
Any help???

My iPod 4th Gen has gone in to recovery mode and it used to say plug in to iTunes, so I do and the computer says it has detected that an iPod needs to be restored so I try and restore it, it starts but when it says restoring iPod the iPod disconnects from the laptop and an error comes up saying the restore can not be completed error 40. I have tried it on two other computers including an apple mac book and still no luck. I've tried searching the Internet for answers but nothing has helped my iPod wont even turn on anymore. I am currently in Afghan and i brought the iPod to use out here i had it 2 weeks and it hasn't worked since and I can not call Apple. PLEASE HELP!!!

IPod 4th gen charging problem?

Hey! So tonight I encountered a problem with my iPod 4th gen while charging. I had been using it messaging a friend and went to view it, then my ipod just turned off and died. It has fallen a few times and the home button broke off and I've been using the assitive touch thingy so people try not to tell me the hard restart thing.
It died and I plugged it into my iHome and it didnt turn on so I just put it on the cord, I had to go to the hospital and four hours later I come home and its still charging?! Oh one thing when it died since my home button broke away it revealed the metal underneath of it, well it was really hot so was the back of my ipod not the whole back just by the part you plug it in, I just thought it go to hot and died or something....
I have no idea what is wrong with it and since I don't know the serial number so I cannot go get online help D; any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone know how to get this app back from Apple? Loading the Nike app from the app store is not the same thing as you need gps running continually for it to work (as with an iphone). Can't have that with my ipod unless I'm connected to wifi. Help?? Thanks.

If you go to Settings do you see an entry for the Nike app? There is no way to delete or hide that app?
Have you tired using the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find it.
Next would be to restore a gain. First from backup then next to factory settings/new iPod.

Does work on the iPOd. You just do not get all the information that GPS/cellular connection can get. You will still be able to get distance/footstrikes like the installed app an you do not need the shoe sensor.. It uses the built-in sensors on the iPod
