Ipod 4th gen went into washing machine Help?
My son's ipod was in his jeans pocket and I put into the washing machine - not in there long - what can I do?
Do not try to turn it on or charge it. That would likely kill it.
Let it dry for a week or so, then try it.

IPod Touch 4G Went Through Washing Machine
Hey Guys!
My iPod Touch 4G went through the washing machine (It was in my pants pocket, forgot to check.) and after 5 days in rice, i just turned it on and it works fine. It was dead when it went into the wash. The only problem is that there is a Water Blotch thing in the top right corner of the screen, pretty annoying. Any way to fix this? I am restoring it right now, and when it is done i will post a picture.
So glad it works!The 90% would dry it fine but risk damaging the iPod. Also since the outer glass and LCD screen a re bonded as one unit it would be hard for the alcohol to get in and then then be able to evaporate. It would seem that the bonding between the outer glass and LCD screen has an unbonded are that let the water in. The washing machine action is great at getting the water in through that unbond area. But it would tke a lot of time for the it to evaporate through the unbond area.

The "real" answer is to do like the other person advised and let it sit for a few days, then fully charge it. But most likely not only did the washing machine damage it with not only water but physical impact, the dryer most certainly damaged it if you were using a medium or higher setting. And again it may have suffered physical damage spinning in the dryer.
If after a few days it still does not work you can try a 3rd party repair site, such as http://www.iresq.com or Google for other such sites. Or start saving for a new one. -

Ipod 5th gen went into recovery mode after I tried to update
I went to update my ipod touch 5th generation to ios 7.1.2 and i went upstairs and left it alone for a few hours, it said the update was verifying when i left it. when i came back it had the screen that told me to connect to itunes so i connected it into my computer and itsaid device was in recovery mode and i have to restore it. i REALLY do not want to restore because i have all of my pictures, apps, music etc

My ipod 4th gen, died, and when I went to charge it. It showed the screen where the usb cord has an arrow above it pointing to the itunes symbol. I plugged in my ipod to my laptop, went on itunes, and there was no device recognized. And no pop up thing about the device, or restoring the device. I looked up sooo many things and nothing has helped me. I really need help, and fast! REMINDER: Im only 14, and dont have the money to take in my ipod to get it fixed, or to buy a new device. Hi! I can't restore my iPod 4th gen. because it will not show up under "devices" on iTunes! I plug my iPod into my computer, and a little stop sign comes up telling me my iPod is locked with a passcode and needs to be unlocked. Heres the catch: my iPod has a erratic/unresponsive touch screen! I can't shut it down or unlock it! So ultimately the devices column does NOT show up. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!

So I have an iPod 4th gen,
I bought off of ebay. Since my original one was knocked into a bowl of water...:( anyways...
and the original owner did a factory reset on the device or erased all of the data... since
now when i turn the ipod on it pulls up a screen (center of it)
with a white usb charger cord, and an arrow pointing to the itunes logo.
also when i try to find the device in itunes it is not appearing.
Ive never had any issues like this before so I am really confused and kinda clueless lol

Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

my daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck, home+power for 10-15 seconds. I really would like to not lose everything she has, again, because I can't back it up this time. I have tried charging via a wall outlet and PC and both charge fine, just only to 20%. I am using the cable that came with it so no aftermarket issues there. Please help so I don't have to reset everything again.
Because once it has charged enough to be powered on as soon as you turn it on it says battery is at 20% and will not charge anymore after that, it just runs for about 5-10 minutes before the battery dies again. The battery cycles discharge/recharge daily and its not on the charger at full charge for more than a couple hours and is never totally dead for more than a couple of hours.
