IPod 4th Generation 40 Gig no longer syncs Microsoft Contacts - Help please
I have recently upgraded my iTunes and ipod software to version and 3.1.1 respectively.
Since the upgrade I have not been able to synchronise my contacts from Microsoft Outlook XP despite this functionality being available and working before the upgrade.
I have selected both the "sync calendar" and the "sync contacts" option from within iTunes however the contacts are not copying across.
Does anyone know if this is a known bug or how to resolve this as this is where I access all my customer details when travelling?
Thanks
What exactly happened when you tried to restore the iPod? Restore from backup?
Have you went to Settings>General>reset>Reset all settings?
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I just got an iPod 4th generation and Im trying to sync my iTunes songs and books from my dell laptop on to my iPod but it says I need iTunes 10.6.3. So I tryed to download it on the apple website but it keeps saying that there is an error. I have already tryed uninstalling all Apple Inc. programs on my laptop then trying to install iTunes again but that has had no success what so ever. I have started to get very frusterated with this . Hopefully someone can help. I would really appreciate it. Any suggestion?
So I tryed to download it on the apple website but it keeps saying that there is an error.
What does the error message say? (Precise text, please.) -
It's a iPod 4th generation 32 gigs its cracked kinda bad on the screen but your still able to see it the back has a small dent on the back behind the case when it was taken it had skull candy titian headphones on it
The battery would either be dead by now or the iPod ha been restored. You are out of luck except for finding it the old fashioned way like if you has a wallet or purse stolen.

I am a new iPod shuffle 4th Generation user and I cannot sync the music in my Windows Media play to my new iPod, can someone help?
Hi Daisymae3,
The iPod shuffle does not use Windows Media Player to sync, it uses Apple’s iTunes application, available for free from this web site -
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

See also the manual for your iPod shuffle -
User Manual iPod shuffle
manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1550/en_US/iPod_shuffle_4thgen_User_Guide .pdf
Specifically Chapter 3 - Setting up the iPod shuffle.
iTunes is the free software application you use to set up, organize, and manage your content
on iPod shuffle.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Is it bad to charge your iPod (4th generation) touch to long? I charge mine all night, so when I wake up I can play it! I want to take care of it.
No it is not. See this articles for more information about your iPod's battery and how to get the longest life out of them.

My IPOD 4th generation has stopped playing videos. It will play the audio only and displays message "TV CONNECTED" "THIS VIDEO IS PLAYING ON THE TV". Don't know how to re-adjust video setting to what it was prior to this happening.
Do you have an Apple TV? An iPod can AirPlay to an Apple TV.
Can you provide a screen shot of what yo are seeing? Also what specific app is it?

Why won't iPod 4th Generation Click Wheel 40gb (non-photo) charge?
I have an old but much-loved iPod 4th Generation Click Wheel 40gb (non-photo model) that I keep on a charging dock. Yesterday the screen went blank and it refuses to charge, so I assume the battery is dead.
Can anyone tell me if that's the reason? If so, exactly what replacement battery I should get? I've found replacement batteries listed for the iPod 4th Gen 40 GB photo and the 4th Gen 20 GB, but don't know if they'll fit. Thanks so much for any information out there!hmm - curiouser and curiouser
I've now managed to get it to manually update (after iTunes took 100% of system resources and I had to force quit it...) but that still doesn't really help me with the auto-sync feature which still won't work

My 5th generation nano will no longer Sync my address book from my Mac. It gives me a message that I have no "Contacts", and asks if I want to create some. My address book is full of contacts, but for some reason it thinks it is empty. All the other sync operations work fine including iCal. My Mac is running OS X 10.7.4.
It sounds like all of your contacts on your Mac running Lion are actually stored up in iCloud.
Several users running Mac OS X Lion and now ML (and iCloud) have no longer been able to "sync" contacts over to their older iPods models.
A work around is to export all of your contacts out of Address Book as vCards and them copy these vCards into your iPod's Contacts folder. You'll need to have the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in order to browse out to the iPod's Contacts folder via the Finder.
Using your iPod as a storage drive
That's the only "solution" I have been able to use to get contacts to sync/appear on my 5G iPod Video.

ITunes stop working when connecting ipod 4th generation on Vista
When connecting ipod 4th generation to a computer running Vista Ultimate, ITunes (version 8) closes. Windows provide the following message - iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Thanks!i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)
