  • IPod touch 4th Generation not charging.

I have had my iPod touch 4th Generation for 3 weeks, after having to buy a new one because i was refused by anyone to have my old iPod 4th Generation fixed as its screen wouldn't work
Anyway, last night my iPod was charging fine when i went to sleep, but after i went to sleep it had obviously stopped charging during the night as it had red battery
I have tried charging it in the computer, docking station and a plug in the wall but neither of them work, i have even tried changing the USB cable and nothing will work
Any ideas of how to fix this? I've seen many complaints on here about it but no one knows how its happened to their iPod because it just happens
My iPod is now completely off because it wont charge and the battery is dead so i cant get onto my iPod to do anything
    Help please?

See the not charging topic of:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
Also look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bend or corroded contacts, foreign material and crack or broken plastic.

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Shuffle 4th Generation not charging or turning on - Warranty Replacement?

I have a 2GB iPod Shuffle 4th Generation that I just bought maybe 2 weeks ago at Target. It's been a great little thing to use in the car and just tonight it stopped charging from my computer and wouldn't turn on. I held down buttons, looked up solutions, attempted the reset, reset my computer, used a friend's cable, tried everything. It seems to just be a brick. I know it's under some kind of warranty and I haven't gotten it at all wet or dropped it.
Can I get it replaced at my local Apple Store free of charge? I do not have the receipt for it, and I bought it with a gift card. I don't believe I've yet registered it online.

  • Ipod 1st generation not charging

    Hi,
I've an ipod shuffle (1st generation) that is not charging, the shuffle is seen by my system and I was able to update it 1.1.4 firmware version today( I also restored it), but when the shuffle is connected to the high-power USB port it lights with the amber light to indicate that it's charging. However it never turns green and on removing it after >4hrs there is no activity from it and the battery indicator light does not light. It is out of warranty now so I was thinking of replacing the battery myself, however the fact that it's not charging at all would give me doubts that it may not be the battery and might be related to the circuit board.
    Anybody seen this symptom before?
    Paddy

  • IPod 5th generation not charging

So i downloaded iOS8 and now my iPod will not charge. I've tried different outlets and even computer won't charge. I've soft reset it and I even restored it to see if it helps and it doesn't help. on iOS 7.1.2 it could charge in an hour or less and now if I ca get to charge it takes about 5 hours and it's still not 100%. It's not a hardware problem because it started the same evening I downloaded iOS 8. But I relally need to fix this since it's only a 2 month old iPod and I AM NOT willing to pay to have it fixed so soon after purchase! please help! Btw it shows as connected but it doesn't charge.

I suspect it may be a problem/bug in the iOS 8.  With iOS 7 it seems that the iPod indicated it was fully changed too fast and maybe Apple fixed that in iOS 8.
You can wait for iOS update or:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod touch 4th generation not charging, not doing anything

My son lost his ipod touch 6 months ago. We found it last night, but now it seems completely dead, even when I plug it into the wall charger or computer. It was completely fine before he lost it, and was just "hiding" safely under a bookshelf for the past few months.

If a battery isn't discharged or recharged for some time, it can lose capacity. You can try this method which might help if it is just frozen: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • IPod 5th Generation not charging properly after IOS 8 update...

    Hello,
I was wondering if anybody has had this problem since the update or even with out the update.
Ever since I updated my IPod to the new IOS 8 I have had trouble charging it. I would plug in the lightning cable and it would show that it is charging with the little symbol but it seems to lose charge while it is plugged in instead of actually charging, even though it says it is. It's also taking a lot longer to charge now that it is doing this and I was just wondering if anyone else might be having this problem or knows how to fix it.
    Thank you,
    Miranda.

    No problems here.
Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • My Ipod 4th generation wont charge when I plug it in either my computer or a wall charger

No light comes on when I plug it in to either my computer or a wall charger. I've tried restarting it, upgrading the software on my computer, my computer doesn't even realize that its plugged in no matter which port I plug it into. Please help! I got it for my birthday last Septemeber (2011) from my kids, and just want it to work again.

Are you sure the connections on each end are nice and snug?  The picture in this article shows you what not to do.

  • My ipod 4th Generation will not charge on my bose soundock 10

    Hi
I have never wrote on a forum before please help. I brought The ipod 4th generation when they first come out in 2010 and brouught the sounddock 10 shortly after in the same year all worked perfect no problem, untill last week when the dock stopped charging the ipod everything else works plays music etc just won't charge. ipod seems fine. as it charges up via socket charger. went into local apple shop in birmingham city (not very helpfull) they said it not a problem with the ipod must be the dock. They suggested I did a Firmware update on the dock which I did from the bose website but It says my dock has the latest softwre already and the problem is still the same. PLEASE HELP as the apple store just don't want to know.

If it worked before with iOS 5.1 then try the standard fixes.
