IPod 4th Generation screen blank. iPod still turns on, just can't do anything.

Yesterday I was about to go out, I picked up my iPod and it somehow managed to jump out of my hands hit my foot and land on the floor. The screen popped out immediatly after it hit the floor. It fell about 5-6 inches. My sister dropped hers twice as much as I did from higher lengths and this didn't happen. The iPod itself still turns on. I just can't get the screen to turn on. I'm not even sure if I tried putting the screen on the correct way. I just tried connecting the LCD cable and snap it shut, I did eventually manage to get it shut, but the screen was still loose. How can I get my screen back and working again? Please help!

If you have virus protections software, try turning it off then doing this again.

My Ipod 4th generation screen is cracked. What do I do?

    Hi,
Is your iPod still under warranty?  I would suggest bringing it in to the Genius Bar of your nearest Apple Store.
    Hope this helps!

As RG said, Apple replaces defective or damaged iPods; they don't fix yours. The Genius Bar is the technical support counter at Apple's retail stores. If you don't have an Apple Store in your area, you will need to call Apple support and arrange service:

For pricing, see the Repair Pricing section here, selecting your country as appropriate:

  • My iPod 4th generation screen shakes back and forth every once in a while and the touch screen stops working. Then I have to hit the sleep button on and off to make it work

My iPod touch 4th generation screen shakes back and forth every once in a while and won't let me use the touch screen. I have restored it at least 5 times to factory setting and it is still happening. The only way to stop it is to hit the sleep button off and then on again. It happens about once every 5 minutes. Please help.

If you successfully (completed all steps without errors) restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod 4th Generation Screen Cracked

My Ipod 4th gen fell out of my pocket and has now got a crack bottom left corner which has spread hald way up the screen.  The screen works fine still though.  I've got not cover and it is out of warrenty.  Should I go to an Apple store and see what they say?  Guessing it would cost alot for them to fix, think I saw £84.99 somewhere   Or are the 3rd party sites that you send off te Ipod to ok?

Should I go to an Apple store and see what they say?
Yes.  They may be willing to throw you a bone on this one, but they may not.  It's always worth a shot.  Otherwise, you'll need to pair for service/replacement.  See here for pricing.

And yes, there are several alternative third party repair centers that can do the same job for a little less. They will actually swap out the bad part instead of just replacing the entire iPod as Apple does.  Google "iPod Touch screen repair" and you should get a plethora of results to work with.

  • How do I fix a cracked iPod 4th generation screen without having to go to an apple store and pay $100??, How do I fix a cracked iPod 4th generation screen without having to go to an apple store and pay $100??

Ok, so on sunday, i lost my grip on my iPod touch (4th gen) abd it fell on the lock button. I tugged on my headphones so it wouldnt hit the ground, and all that touched the ground was the top of the iod where the loc button is. Now I have a crack from the middle of a previous crack (very small) and it goes across the screen . Its under the front camera down and across. IDK if my mom bought a warrenty when she bought it, and she doesnt know about the crack yet. Is there any way to fix the screen without having to go to apple and pay $100 to fix it. I dont have that money right now, money is tight. Please help!!!

You could try to replace it yourself.  Take a look at this instructional video (or a similar one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgcmZa5dCNo  If you think you can do this and want to try, you can Google for "Ipod Touch screens" to find a source you like and purchase one.  Just note that if you try to fix it and fail, Apple will no longer exchange it for $99.

  • My ipod 4th generation screen has cracked.

my son had this in his pocket and when he looked at it the screen looked bit like spider web, the ipod still works and is under warranty would this still be covered by the warranty thanks

No.  Warranty for almost any product does not cover damage that you do to the device.
Just as a care warranty does not include a broken windshield or your tv warranty does not cover a screen that you break.
    Sorry

  • Dropped Ipod touch 4th generation in water, and I turned it on without knowing that it most likely never turn on again. I don't know what to do, please help me!

I dropped my ipod 4th generation in water, and I turned it on without knowing that it might never turn on again. I don't know what to do, pleae help me!!!

You could well be looking at a new iPod, but this will only cost you a couple of bucks, and a little time. Worth trying, but it maybe to late, (I just don't want to give you any false hope.) Turn your iPod off and leave it off, do not attempt to charge it or use until you dry your iPod out. Put it in a sealed bag of rice for at least 7 to 10 days. change the rice daily. If (and it's a "BIG" if) your lucky after drying the iPod it will start up when you turn on the power. You may need to charge it for at least 30 minutes to get some signs of life. If it does not turn on after charging attempt a reset, press and hold both the power and home buttons together for about 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons. If your iPod turns on, check that all is working. If you get it to work the first thing you should be is back up everything on your iPod to your computer, no guarantee it will continue to work. Water does bad things to electronic toys. If it doesn't work your only out a couple of bucks, then it's time for new toys. You may want to look at replacing with a refurbished iPod, about 1/2 of new. Good luck.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4061 ipod 4th generation stuck on start up screen, won't do anything (the black screen with the silverish apple). Help?

This morning, i tried turning on my ipod (4th generation) and it is stuck at  the black start upp screen (the screen that has the siverish apple when you have first turned on your device). It has been stuck like this for about a half an hour now, and I'm not sure what to do. This would be the second time in at least three months I have had problems with it (around December it went into recovery mode and i had to reset it to the factory settings). Is there anyway I can handle this at home, or do i have to go into an apple store to have this fixed? Also, I plugged it into my computer and it didnt show up in itunes like it did last time. Thanks! (I'm pretty sure its the IOS 6 because i have not updated it since then).
