  • IPod touch 5th generation charging issue

My ipod is very weird.  It just developed this weird problem that makes no sense and I was wondering if anyone had an idea what was going wrong and how I can fix this.  Whenever I plug my ipod in to charge whether it is in the computer or in my wall charger the screen freezes or spazes out.  It will either freeze on the current image or it will freeze blue and sometimes it even will get like staticly.  I thought that maybe it was a short happening somewhere inside the ipod possibly near the charging port.  The ipod has been dropped once but that was from about 2 feet and there are no cracks or any type of damage at all other than a little tiny scratch.  Has anyone heard of this problem?  Does anyone know a quick way I can fix it?  I have had my ipod since it came out.

Some other uses have reported the problem.
    Try
    - Another cable
    - Another charging source
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I made this same suggestion to other users but they never replied to say if it worked.

  • Touch 4th generation charging issue

when the battery is completely drained, we are getting the plug into itunes graphic on the screen and it won't recharge using a wall charger. then when you plug it into a computer with itunes to recharge, it says this ipod is in restore mode and the ipod has to be restored to factory settings before it will recharge. we've used a ipod touch 2nd generation on the same computer with no issue and it charged fine from wall charger?

  • (!)iPod touch charging issues

So I bought my ipod touch 4th generation about an year ago and it was working fine until about a week ago when it started to charge wierdly.
I would plug it normally into my laptop (windows 7) and that it will charge, not charge, charge, not charge and keep going back and fourth but most of time it doesn't charge. It also makes this annoying noise of it being plugged in constantly even when I am writing this now. I have restored both of my ipod and laptop but that didn't fix it. I have also been looking for solutions through device manager and google but no luck.

I'm wondering if it's not the actual charging but, rather, the charge indicator.  Use your iPod until it shuts down automatically because of low battery.  Ignore any low battery alerts that may appear beforehand.  Then, use the wall-mount charger to charge fully.
When finished, check your USB ports again.

  • IPod Nano Charging issues

Can someone help with the following....?
I have a laptop with USB 2.0 port. When I charge my Nano from my laptop using the cable supplied with the nano, it synchronises and briefly charges (charge symbol appears) and then stops charging. Similar cables result in the same.
However, if I use the proper AC charger is charges fine.
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks
      Windows 2000

If the laptop goes to sleep, the Nano probably won't charge. If you go into the control panel you can set up the computer so it won't sleep when a USB device is plugged in. I've found the plug-in charger works best. Would be nice if they included one with the Nano.

  • Ipod Charging Issues

I have had my iPod Touch 5th generation for over a year, and recently I have began to experience issues when trying to charge it. I would have to wiggle to cable, or position it, to get it to charge. It has gotten progressively worse, and now it wont charge no matter what. I have cleaned out all substances from the dock on the iPod, and have tried several sources of power, and charging cords. Any suggestions?

  • Another 5th Generation Ipod not charging/sync problem.

I have two 5th generation (aka video) iPods.
One works fine but the other does not charge either by using a mains charger or through USB through the PC..
Also it is not being seen by the iTunes or Windows Explorer.
The fact that one iPod is ok should prove that my chargers cables and PC are ok but to be absolutely sure I've tried new chargers, cables and another PC and the result is the same, one iPod ok, the other one appears faulty.
Strangely the only way I can get the suspect iPod to charge is via a firewire connector connected to a Mac
Other than that the iPod plays music ok and all the other functions work ok.
    So far I tried........
Confirmed the iPod is configured for Windows
Checked the dock connector pins and they seem ok.
    Tried a reset.    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382
Put the ipod into Disk Mode  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
When the iPod is in Disk Mode it displays a tick and ''OK to disconect '
I then plug it into the computer but nothing happens.
I've also tried a diagnostic test
    http://www.wikihow.com/Access-and-Run-Diagnostic-Tests-on-an-iPod-Video
All tests seem ok apart from the USB connection test which says No Cable Connected.
Apart from a hardware problem any ideas?

    Same Ipod .
    Same problem.
    Same steps taken.
    Anyone?

  • 4th generation - 20G iPod not charging

    Hi,
My 4th generation (20G) iPod was working fine until recently.
It started to freeze from time to time, and then it was kept on until the battery discharged completely & then I could plug it to the power adaptor & off it went again fine after charging.
This time instead of being patient I tried to reset the iPod (hold menu +select button) & then the sad face appeared with the link:
    www.apple.com/support/ipod/
I tried to “force iPod into Disk Mode” & “restore your iPod” without success.
The iPod wont charge plugged into the power adaptor: it shows the dead battery icon for a second & then goes back to the apple logo & then to the sad face.
On the PC in windows XP & Vista, as well as on the Mac (Panther & Tiger) the iPod is not recognized & it shows the battery icon without being animated with a static lightning bolt : “Very low battery
(non-animated screen for color and monochrome models)”
Any hints, clues or “bright ideas”?
    Thanks.

out of bright ideas. tried everything. think i'll give up...

That is about normal. You can maximize battery life by changing some settings. See:
    Apple - Batteries - iPod
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.

Replace the battery yourself if you are up to it. You can purchase a replacment for about $10

  • Ipod 'charging' issues & ipod not recognised by itunes/laptop

    Hi
My ipod was working fine until last week when it appeared to have no battery. Now whenever it is being charged it is always in a 'charging' status despite the fact that it can have been charging for hours and should be fully charged. Also when I unplug it, the screen constantly displays the charging or charged symbols despite not being connected to any power - it does not seem to switch off completely anymore. Sometimes I will charge my ipod for hours and my ipod screen says it is charging but then as soon as I unplug it from the power my ipod suddenly has not battery. Also, my ipod is now not being recognised by my computer or itunes. I have installed itunes 10 so I am not sure if this is an ipod classic compatibility issue.
I hope that my post makes sense!! Has anybody else had any of the above problems??
    allie

First thing to try is a reset of your iPod.
Turn the Hold switch on then off again and then press-and-hold the Menu and Select (centre) buttons until the Apple logo appears. This can take about ten seconds for the logo to appear. The iPod will then reset (which can take a couple of minutes or so).
Has a reset corrected the problem? If not, perhaps the battery has reached the end of its useful life. How old is the iPod?
After a few years (there is no exact number) the battery will wear out and not accept charging any more. Whn it gets to this point, the option is to replace the battery using either Apple ioor a third party, or consider buying a new iPod.

  • My iPod will charge in the computer but not my iPod dock, my sisters iPod dock or the wall charger. My sisters iPod will charge in all and we both have the same sofware and generation. Why won't mine charge?

Look the dock connector on your iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corred contacts, foreign material and cracked/broken plastic.
    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost

Ipod touch 4th generation charger port bent inside will apple be able too fix this under my coverage? Or will they send me a replacement? thanks

Apple does not fix your iPod. They exchange it with a refurbished one. Make an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store.

However, Apple may deem the connector damage due to abuse and that is not covered by the warranty. In that case
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price:

There is no way to remotely track or disable an iPod nano, either for you or Apple. As it can't connect to the Internet on its own, Find my iPhone isn't available for it.

  • There is green mold/corrosion on my iPod 5th Generation charger.

There is green mold/corrosion on my iPod 5th Generation charger, how can I remove this safely ?

Hey Nikki, An iPod classic with iOS 8?!? OK, When you say "Charger" are you talking about the cable or the device that converts the 120 volt power from the wall to something that your iPod can handle? If you mean the cable, replace it, the green gunk is copper oxidation, corrosion. Moisture has gotten in the cable and is causing the cable to fail, replacement is the only thing that will work for certain. If within one year of purchase may be covered under warranty, you could get a free replacement from Apple. If it is just the tip of the cable wipe it off with a tissue and some alcohol. If your talking about the charging port on your iPod or the USB port on the other end, There are cleaning kits, you can purchase, which come with little brushes and pads and a cleaner solution to remove the corrosion. Just follow the instructions to the letter! Otherwise you can try this get bottle of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 91% and several cotton swabs. You may need to cut / trim the swabs to fit the port openings. Turn your iPod and/or the charging device off. Apply 1 maybe 2 drops of alcohol to the swab, you want it damp, NOT wet! If you get it too wet use a tissue to dry the excess alcohol off the swab. Then insert the swab in and out as if you were plugging it in and out, do not sweep side to side, you risk damaging the contact pins inside the port. Bend or break one and you'll have a real and expensive mess. after 4 or 5 in / out motions, varying the position of the swab from right to left, change swabs, dampen a fresh swab and continue until the swab come out clean. Or take it to Apple or an electronics service shop and let them clean it. When done allow the port to dry a few minutes before turning your iPod on. Good luck, Cheers.
