IPod 5G picture import from Nikon D70

I have the iPod 5G and I am wondering if there is a way for me to shoot a picture with my Nikon D70 and have the picture go directly into my iPod. I do not care where it goes as long as it is there. If there is a way please let me know. Thanks.

From camera to ipod through the connector it's pretty slow, but if you get a card reader the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 15-in-1 Media Card Reader/Writer(Model No. F5U249ea) amazon do them, is the one i know definately works with the ipod connector, it's bus powered so know batteries or mains needed, plus it's usb-2 so it's alot faster than doing it from the camera, if you do it this way you can put another memory card in your camera and keep shooting, and put the full one in the card reader-to iPod for transfer in the bag. then swap them over and carry on until you've finished shooting, fastest and easiest way.
Hayden
No worries, it will definately store the file, if you copy what ive written above about the card reader, it'll take any memry card and save your batteries, also if you can change settings onn the camera fiddle around with them to see if you can make a compatible format!

  • Why does get-attachment 1aspx appear on pictures imported from Iphoto

Pictures imported from Iphoto  into Imovie not as clear as originals. There is a note with each picture ...get-attachment 1aspx. Could this be the reason? What does this message mean?

iPhoto shows you the image at full resolution. If the image is tiny then it's tiny.
You can magnify an image by 300%. In edit mode hold the option key and tap the 2 or 3 button.

i cannot view images imported from nikon d4.
I have just upgraded to the most current version of aperture and when I import images from my qxd card it looks like it is importing but no images show up.

So the images show up in the Import pane of Aperture but after you press the Import button they do not show in the project you are importing into?
Does this happen for both Raw and JPG images?

I really need urgent help with this so if you know a soloution, please post it!

I don't do mjpeg so you will have to search the forum for advice
But... having a playback codec installed does not ALWAYS mean the codec will work for Premiere editing
After you search the forum and find the (I think free) codec vendors, you will need to install fresh so Premiere will "see" the codec for editing
    Or, Google
    convert mjpeg avi
To convert to DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound so the files will "natively" edit in Premiere
My GUESS (you didn't say) is the d90 is a STILL camera that has a video function, not a true camcorder
If you plan to do much video work, you need a tape-based DV camcorder so you use Firewire to do a digital transfer as a "real" AVI that Premiere may edit without conversion or extra software
For a Firewire DV Camera - look at Panasonic PV-GS320 or GS500 (Note that I have not used either, but they have good reviews)

My iphoto 9.5.1 imports from nikon D7100 are flat, and the iPhoto controls do not seem to give as much control as earlier version i am upgrading from.

Export the photo out of iPhoto via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop and view them with Preview.  Do they look flat there?

  • Cannot import RAW files from Nikon D70

I have an iMac G5 running Leopard 10.5.2. When I try to import to iPhoto '08 from my Nikon D70, I get a message that says "The volume for DSC-xxxx.NEF cannot be found." The program then stalls and I have to force quit to get out of it. This happens whether trying to import photos from a card reader or from a desktop folder. I've tried re-installing both iPhoto and NIkon software to no avail. Any suggestions?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Pictures from Nikon D70 appear darker in iPhoto 5.04

Everytime I import pictures in iPhoto, they appear too dark, certainly compared to the D70 "on-board" screen.
I would even say, I have to rework them everytime to get a proper lighting.
The D70 is configured to sRGB mode.
Has anyone an idea ? I did not find any "match profile" function in iPhoto, although this clearly looks like a profile mismatch

You may also wish to check whether the Nikon D70 includes an excessively large MakerNote in its exif information (I believe it may be one of the cameras that does). If the MakerNote is tens of kb (as on my Pentax Optio), rather than a few hundred bytes like most cameras, then when iPhoto 5 includes this in the Library.iPhoto, it can slow down iPhoto 5 to an unusable degree once you have thousands of photos.
If you have Graphics Converter, the browser mode will show the size of the MakerNote (they call it Manufacturer Note). Alas, it doesn't seem to show the iso speed.

  • Importing from Nikon D7000 into Lightroom

Lightroom does not seem to recognize my Nikon D7000. I connect the camera, open LR, and nothing happens. I can click Import, but it doesn't recognize the device. The D7000 comes with Nikon's ViewNX2 software which they want you to use for import. Do I really need to use that to import photos from the camera, then import them from ViewNX2 into LR? That seems like a pain. I just upgraded to LR 3.6 so I don't think that's the issue.
    Thanks for any help!
    Carrie

    Carrie,
3.6 will read your D7000 files. In general it's best to use a card reader, but the camera should work. I'm not familiar with the D7000, but my D300 has two modes for USB: PTP and Mass Storage. The camera has to be set to Mass Storage to read images from it. Your camera may be the same.
If that isn't the case, try using Windows Explorer or Mac's Finder to drag and drop your pictures from the camera to your hard disk and then import from there.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Importing from Nikon D5000 causes crash

Every time I try to use the 'Import' feature on LR5 (and LR4 when I had it), I get to the import screen, can see my D5000 highlighted on the left under 'devices', but LR crashes every single time.
I have to use Windows to drag files across into a folder on my desktop and import from there, with no trouble at all.
I have no problems whatsoever with my D70 (which uses a CF card, rather than a SD card like my D5000), but I have never managed to get the D5000 to import directly.
I don't get any error message, the little loading wheel bottom left just stops freezing, the whole program stops responding, and I end up having to kill it via task manager.
Has anyone experienced this, does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks so much

I don't own one, as I normally just plug my camera straight into my computer.  I just wondered if there was a lazier way
    Thanks so much.

  • How do i view Nef format pictures downloaded  from  Nikon D300 to Ps Cs3

    Hello,
Wonder if any one can help.
Trying to download camera raw format pictures from a Nikon D300 into photoshop CS3. All that can be seen is the icons ( but no picture) . A dialoge box appears with a message saying that 'Ps does not support this type of file' ( ie. Nef) and therefore cannot show it.
Downoading to Photoshop bridge, the same issue appears where the icons are visible ( but no mininature image is shown.
    many thanks

    Robert-
If your PSCS3 version is fully upgraded it should read Nikon D300 files via built-in ACR without difficulty. If not, contact Adobe tech support. DNG... no thank you.
IMO you should also be running under either OS 10.4.11 or 10.5.3.
ACR works fine if one prefers a Photoshop Bridge or Lightroom workflow, but better NEF conversion (and IMO workflow) is available to owners of strong Macs via Apple's Aperture. Best quality NEF conversions come from Nikon View (free) and from Nikon Capture NX, but IMO Nikon's workflow is lethargic.

  • Aperture refuses to import from Nikon D300

After Yesterdays update Aperture refuse to import RAW files from my Nikon D300 as it did before. I get the message "0 images has been imported...".
I can import to iPhoto and them export to Aperture so the RAW files seems OK.
And I can still import JPEGS from my small Canon IS850 directly to Aperture
    Larsan

I am doubting this has to do with updating to Aperture 2.1.2, but rather might be related to Camera RAW 2.3 -- what version of Camera RAW have you installed?
In the a topic about auto-rotation here, there are confirmed problems with not only auto-rotation, but also recognizing as duplicates any images remaining on the card that have previously been imported. The auto-rotation problem, at least in the Previews, is common to both Aperture and iPhoto 08, so clearly points to CRAW 2.3.
We need to see if your experience might also be related to CRAW 2.3. I am having no problem importing from a card reader with cards used in my D200 and D300 cameras, however, other than those mentioned in that topic.

  • Why won't LR5 automatically save my original RAW imports from Nikon D7100?

Why won't LR5 save my original RAW imports from D7100. I can import them and process them but the originals are then lost. What am I doing wrong? With every other camera the original RAW image is saved in the library.

Another guess as to what is happening is that your Folders panel section was accidentally closed/hidden in Library.
To fix this, right-click on another section name in the lefthand panel and put a checkmark next to Folders.
The possible sections on the left in Library are:
Navigator (which cannot be closed or right-clicked on)
    Catalog
    Folders
    Collections
    Publish Services
A variation of this situation would be that instead of hiding the Folders section entirely, you've merely collapsed it.
To reveal the list of folders click the triangle that is pointing towards Folders so that it points down at a now expanded Folders section.

  • Photoshop CC not allowing JPEG import from Nikon D800 - Photoshop CS6 worked fine.

When inporting JPEG from Nikon D800 nothing happens - screen remains blank.
Went back to my provious version (Photoshop CS6) and it worked fine.

Curt Y gave you some good advice.
Remove your memory card from the camera and plug it into a card reader.
Drag/copy the files from the memory card to your hard drive.
Eject your card from the card reader and reinsert into camera.
Then open the files from the hard drive.
It is not a good idea to open/work on files on the memory card, while either in the camera or the card reader.
Yes, you may have done this differently in the past, but it is much SAFER to work on the files after they have been moved to your hard drive.
Please try the above proceduce and report back if you are still having issues.

  • .NEF files from Nikon D70

I am new to this, but, how can I (or CAN I?) open a "raw"
photo show with my Nikon D70 with Fireworks and edit it? It
automatically saves the files as .NEF files.
    Thanks,
    Paul

FW does not support RAW files.
Open it through Bridge and Camera Raw, then bring in a jpg or
    tiff
version into FW. Or use the Image processor in the Bridge
    tools menu to
save jpeg or tiff versions of multiple files.
If you don't have Bridge, then set your D70 to record in jpeg
    format, or
RAW plus jpeg. Note that the jpeg file created in this
    combination
setting is not a super high quality file.

  • Problems transferring photos to iPod from Nikon D70 and Finepix S602 Zoom

I've been having some difficulties getting a clean transfer of photos from both the D70 and the S602. (Yes, I know the latter is not on the supported list, but the D70 is.)
The first couple of attempts worked fine (both on S602). Transferred 16 photos (9.8 MB) and 13 photos (15.2MB). One from a CF card and one from SmartMedia.
However, the third time it went wrong and not only did the transfer fail but all previously transferred photos apparently disappeared.
Short panic and one reset later the photos are back, but the third roll a) claims to contain only a subset of the photos and b) isn't browseable. Delete is the only option. Further attempts have the same problem, but manually stopping part way through is more successful, so I was able to deal with it in batches. But this is a real pain.
Same problem arises with the D70. But with a 1GB CF is even more painful to manage.
There seems to be little consistency in how much can be successfully transferred before a problem arises. Sometimes it is breaking after 15 shots and a few MB. Other times I can get more transferred, for example, 101 MB (38 photos) or 61 photos (60MB).
I tried switching the D70 to PTP mode (the S602 doesn't support that) and had more success. Everything was going well until it hit 118 photos (299MB) and then it stopped, with the 119th photo showing up as a question mark. This is repeatable. No need to reset this time, so I wonder if it is the same problem.
All the photos successfully transferred are accessible from the PC, but it would be really nice to get it all working more smoothly. Any suggestions?

This is weird, when I connected the iPod to my computer it opened iTunes, and I had to do all the stuff you do the first time, but this time I checked 'Automatically add photos' or whatever as well. So, then it started to put them on my iPod but I pressed skip because I didn't want like over 770 pictures on my iPod, just the ones I would pick... so then, it updated the songs and everything, that was great but I got my hopes up too soon and figured I'm in, but no, I still get the same message when I try to upload photos... ahh, please help!
