IPod 5th Gen (Black Screen), What Should I Do?

my iPod randomly got a black screen yesterday and I don't know why can ANYONE help?
Problems:
- Black Screen
- Home Button Broke
I Am On The Newest iOS 8

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod 5th gen blacked out

My ipod 5th gen has blacked out and i know you have to press home button & lock button to reboot it but my home button is spoilt.
I couldnt connect it to itunes or my laptop and nothing was detected.
I tried recboot but failed because nothing was detected.
Leaving it to charge at the wall socket didnt help either because nothing lit up.
I have tried forcing my home button even if i know it is already spoilt, still to no avail.
I have tried to clean dirt off the button, didnt work.
Is  my last resort going to an Apple store and spend perhaps hundreds of dollars just to fix this when i know i just need to press 2 buttons tgt
Furthermore, my warranty expired. That *****.. I am on the verge of breaking down because my ipod is literally my life. I use it more than my Samsung phone, gosh
    Please assist me. Thank you.

So usually, repairing it will definitely solve the problems right? I am still a student and I really hope having it fixed one time will do the trick.
Also, should i just repair the home button and reboot myself? Or repair both the home button and blacked out screen (to save cost)?

  • Ipod Touch 5th Gen Black Screen - device inop

My daughter has an Ipod Touch 5th generation she received fro christmas in 2013. Yesterday she came home from school to find the screen black and the device non-responsive. Pressing or hold the power or volume buttons gives us no result. One thing we noticed right away was that the home button appeared not to work. When pressing down and releasing there is no click or apparent movement in the button. I do not know if this is normal, but from my searching it appears not to be. When attached to the computer, Itunes does not recognize the device. It sees no device at all.  This Ipod stays in an Otterbox Defender case at all times.
    My solution attempts:
    1) Charge Ipod to ensure battery is not dead.
    2) Attempting to clean the home button with isopropyl alchol. The ipod was held in an upright position the entire time to facilitate drainage and prevent the alcohol from getting under the screen.
    3) Attach ipod to computer to see if Itunes found device.
    4) Hard reset by holding power button and home button for over 10 seconds.
    Questions:
    1) Is home button supposed to click or move up and down?
    2) Is the black screen/non-response related?
    3) If 2 is correct, how do I go about fixing said button?
    4) What is the warranty on these? I cannot give you more information other that Dec 2013 it was received by daughter and model number on back is A1421.
I have no idea what version of OS it has on it.

With the serial number you can check warranty coverage here.
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
Unless you purchased the optional AppleCare extended warranty the coverage is for one year.
    Try this:
    Turn on without Home/Power Button
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • IPod 2nd Gen Black Screen 3/4 battery no reset, no return, help??!!

The other night I was playing Brick, then put the 4Gig-2nd gen Nano in my pocket (with 3/4 battery power still left), then took it out to play again, a half hour later. I got a black screen, no reponse. I tried resetting it based on some of the recommendations in this forum - no good. I got it last Christmas - does it know when it's 11 months old? My son's (2!) 20Gig 2nd-gen iPods also died at around 11 months. I don't have any return options like your other posters.
I bought a battery replacement kit - should I install it?

  • IPod 1st gen - black screen except for 5 seconds when charging

    Hi everyone !,
I am having an issue with my iPod Touch 1st generation bought in December 2007.
this week-end i've decided i'd work under my house for some technical reasons i will not explain here..
i've been listenning some music, and realized my battery was almost dead.
i've so decided to go upstairs pick up the power charger and plug my ipod.
    all went fine...
worked for couple of hours until i was done,
i've unplugged the ipod, then came back in, did some stuff in the garage for an hour or so, and decided i wanted to listen to music again, and then.. the ipod did not react to the on-off button as well to the home button.
when i unplugged it from the power charger, i saw the battery was 3/4 charged. i've so decided to wait until the evening to check it out and kept on working in between.
the evening, i plugged the ipod onto the computer > no reaction
plugged it onto the charger the screen lighted on, logo, then the light goes off, but i seem to see the apple logo in the back like "printed" on the screen then disappearing. i 've tried soft reset, hard-reset... nothing works... i've put it in recovery mode to erase/restore from both my mac and my PC, itunes detects it in recovery mode even if the screen remains black, try to restore but it fails, error code 1601.
i am fearing it simply died ... but i am anyway seeking for any piece of advice in case of... even if i was thinking getting an iPhone 4S, that'd be pitty if my iPod bought 4 years ago just dies before Xmas...
thanking in advance all mac-gifted people who would have any piece of usefull advice.
    Cheers,
    Nicolas.
PS: while thinking about it, iOS 3.something was installed months ago...

  • My iPod (5th gen refurbished) flashed a blue screen, then shut down, and restarted. It's fine now, but should I be worried? What happened?

My iPod was working just fine, and then when I went on YouTube, it flashed a blue screen (for like one minute) and then restarted and shut down. Should I be  worried? What happened?

My new iPod 5th gen did the same! I think it might be a YouTube and iOS connection glitch

  • I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod?

I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod? And if I can't put it on my ipod how do I get my money back? I registered my ipod on iTunes, why was a song I can't put on my ipod even offered to me? What a rip?

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:

Sounds like you need a new battery.  Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

I am having trouble with my iPod 5th gen after iOS update. It's in recovery mode and iTunes keeps timing out when I try to restore it. What should I do??? If possible, I would also like to keep all of my data.

    Troubleshooting
As with all clickwheel iPods, you can reset this iPod by first toggling the hold switch on and off and then simultaneously pressing the select (center) and menu buttons for approximately 5-10 seconds. This is a common fix should your iPod behave unexpectedly or lock up. Once reset, the iPod should display an Apple logo for a few seconds before showing the main menu. This procedure is similar to rebooting a computer and damages none of your music or data.

    Hey guys..
I have an ipod 5th gen last month and i have issues about its screen. In the middle left part of my ipod screen, when i put little pressure on it. It actually moves and it is not in place.
I think that apple engineers used a more un reliable glue for the screen borders. What should i do to prevent it from happening again on the other side of the screen?
