IPod 5th Gen Button Jammed and Won't Turn On

Hello! I have a small predicament and am unable to find the solution.
Yesterday I was watching a  movie and suddenly my iPod wouldn't turn on! It was more than half way full on battery and working fine before! Now, the screen is black, my PC won't recognize it at all, and I can't get it to work! It won't charge either.
I have done some research and people with similar "black screen" problems usually are told to hold the power button and the home button together for various amounts of time, but my home button is jammed in! It's lost it's function and appears to be always pressed in. So I am unable to do this "reset" thing.
Now I'm incredibly frustrated. Any help?

Try:
Turn on without Home/Power Button

  • IPod 5th Gen. froze, shutdown, and won't charge how do I fix it?

Please help me figure out what to do to fix my iPod 5th Generation. I put it on the charger, and when I came to check on it, it froze, then shutdown, now it won't charge or nothing. I tried rebooting it an nothing happened, please help me!

All you need to do to solve this problem is to hold down the lock and home buttons at the same time and count slowly to 15. That's called a hard reset and it should reboot the phone out of the black screen funk. Give it a try - it should work. If it doesn't, bring it to the Apple Store. Good luck!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod 5th Gen constantly resets and is not detected

My iPod 5th Gen erased all my music and constantly resets when plugged in.  I've searched far and wide through support to no avail so I look to the community to aid my quest to load music to my iPod again.  Thanks in advance for the help!
    Situation:
    - music and all data erased suddenly and is currently in factory settings
    - when iPod is plugged in to computer, the iPod screen shows (in order):
° "connected, eject before disconnecting" (~5 seconds)
° off screen, completely blank (~1 second)
° apple logo appears as if restored (~5 seconds)
         ° repeat perpetually
    Attempted Remedies and Scenarios:
    - restore iPod via select / menu buttons
    - try running Disc Mode via select / play buttons
    - restore iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat and erase all data in iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat iPod via Disk Utility (iPod is not detected on Mac so cannot select)
    - attempted all of the above with the following variables:
° with pc running Windows 7, iTunes current
° with Mac mini running Mavericks, iTunes current
° with Macbook Air running Mavericks, iTunes current
° tried all USB ports on all above computers
° tried 2 separate 30-pin USB cables (both USB cables work with my iPhone 4s)
         ° iPod is fully charged
         ° restart all computers

Hi everyone..  just found the solution... conveniently after I start a thread.  Turns out that my iPod nano had converted all 7.3GB of my 8GB into "Other" space and reset all my settings.
    Solution is as follows:
    - run disc mode while plugged-in (running Macbook Air)
    - restore dialog box appears via iTunes while in disc mode
    - restore iPod nano
    - upload music
    - enjoy

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • My iPod Touch randomly shut down and won't turn back on.

This has happened before so i know what to do, BUT, my main menu button has been broken for a month so I just shut down my iPod to get out of apps. But, now since it won't turn on and I can't reset it, how do I fix it?

    Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Where it says place the iPod in recovery mode, use this program:

If not successful, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My Ipod has quite possibly overheated and won't turn on

Ok, I was working today and I left my Ipod 3rd gen 32g in my car. Today it was over 100 degrees F and when i got out of work and got in my car, I touched mt ipod and it was hot. I clicked the home button and it displayed the screen for a second then shut down. Now when I try to turn it on, it displays the Apple logo for a few seconds then it shuts down automatically. It's not even showing up on Itunes.
Can anybody help me with this problem please?

I'm having the same problem with my Ipod (32gb 3rd gen). I was able to get the recovery screen up and start the whole process. But after the recovery was finished and the device went to reset... It continue to show the apple logo.

  • My iPod is stuck on safari and won't turn off or return to home screen

I updated my iPod touch to iOS 6 and since then I've encounntered multiple problems. My iPod is stuck on safari and I can zoom in and zoom out but that's all I am able to do, I can't turn it off nor can I go back to the home screen. I tried letting it go on low battery but it's still on. The only button that works is the volume buttons. Help please?

If the reset is not successful, try the other items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hello. My iPod touch 2nd gen suddenly stopped and won't turn back on.

It didn't got wet ( checked the sign). I have tried EVERYTHING from soft reset to hard reset ( Plug the device with iTunes opened and keep Menu button and Power button pressed for at least 30 seconds, up to two minutes, for at least 3 times ) . This happened somehwere in the middle of month May, today I tried those things. When i plug it in to charge up the bottom side gets warm ( maybe the battery). The device is out of warranty ( 2 years old ).
I want to find if there is anything else to try or just go to a workshop and see if it is from inside. Thanks in advance.

    Try here.
