IPod 5th gen frozen after upgrading to iOS 8
I was able to download and install of iOS 8 on my iPod 5th gen (no iSight camera version). Everything went great, no errors or warnings. After it installed and the iPod reset, it is now stuck on a white screen with a black Apple and the progress bar. It has been stuck on this screen with the progress bar about 5/6 of the way across for hours.
It is still shows in iTunes with the model, capacity, and the check for update, restore iPod, backup now, and restore backup buttons. iTunes says it is on iOS 8. When I click on any of the above buttons, I get a message that "Find my iPod must be turned off before iPods can be restored." I feel like a ******* not turning Find My iPod it off before upgrading, but it should have told me to turn if off before upgrading.
I cannot power the iPod off to try to reset it, nothing happens.
Am I screwed and now have a metal and glass brick, or is there anything I can do?

My iPod (a 5th generation) crashed and is now stuck on a black screen. I can't unlock it or turn it on, but when I was trying to get it to work, I pressed the screen shot combination and the photo sound played; the same happened when I plugged it in to charge; the sound played for that too.

How do I reinstall ipod 5th gen software after formatting my ipod?
I formatting my ipod because my PC asked me too and now my ipod has a white screen. I've tried resetting it and it won't work. How do I reinstall the ipod's software? It says I need to "use itunes to restore"
I would have a look at your iPod's User Guide for assistance on the different syncing preferences you can set up with your iPod and the different content that can be synced to it.

My 3GS randomly pauses music both steaming and iPod. Issue started after upgrading to iOS 5.
I've had this issue happen within the included iPod(Music) feature. It also happens when streaming through Pandora and Sirius/XM apps as well as streaming podcasts. At first I thought that it was a streaming/buffering issue, but it's also now happening within the local music library.
Not sure if this will help... I had problems playing almost everything and it behaved very erratically... Here was the solution that worked for me:

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
Working now !!!!! -
IPod 5th Gen. frozen on "Do Not disconnect" and computer won't recognize it
I tried to sync my iPod and ever since I plugged it in to my iBook G4 computer it is displaying the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. My computer does not recognize it - neither in iTunes or on Finder. I have disconnected it twice, plugged it back in twice and this seems to have absolutely no effect. Pressing the buttons on the iPod is equally useless. Any ideas?
Thank you.First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are.

My iPod 5th gen is not turning on after iOS 8 update! Before this all happened, I noticed that my apps crashed unexpectedly, it was laggy, and it decides to reset on its own at times. I CAN'T charge or plug it into my computer. Also, my home button is sunk in but my sleep/wake button at the top is most definitely not. I know my iPod was not running out of battery and I did not even power it off. I am very disappointed but I really need it to turn on =/

Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode

After I installed iOS 7.1, my iPhone 4s and iPod (5th Gen) stopped syncing with my 2014 Toyota Tundra Truck. Has anybody experienced this problem?
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

Does it make sense to buy an iPod touch 5th gen. 64 gb with iOS 7 and upgrade it to iOS 8, or spend a few bucks more and buy one with iOS 8 already installed?
The iOS update us free so I would get the less expensive one.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I had an iPod Classic 5th Gen that I upgraded from 30gb to 80gb. The problem I'm having is that it will not sync more than about 5.4gb worth of songs. The iPod begins to freeze mid sync and the (-69) error message haults the sync process. The hard drive has been upgraded, it has a new logicboard (with 128mb RAM), new housing, battery, hold / headphone jack. Basically the only original parts are the bezel, click wheel, screen, and data ribbons. Have attempted the 3Rs and have also tried to isolate potentially corrupt audio files and remove them, but this did not seem to be the primary cause. The sync failure consistently happens at just under a 1000 songs (5.4gb) and then it starts to error (-69) any song after that. Your advise would be enthusiastically received.
Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
