Ipod 5th/gen stuck in restoring mode can't get pass recovery mode..........

first mess:{1} ipod needs to be reformatted for use with windows (then){2} restoring "ipod" (then) {3}Your ipod has been restored to factory settings and will be restarting (heres where it gets stuck){4} logo screen with timer at bottom screen is gray after timer goes all the way i can hear hard drive reading humming sound then the screen never lights back up altho i can see the ipod icon in itunes without a name then it goes to - {5}itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode you must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes and thats it the process just starts back over agian never getting pass the beginning of stage 2 all this happend after i tryed to restore to factory settings after i seen error message your ipod needs to be reformatted no prior problems i am able to reset into disk mode and w/ipod screen saying do not disconnect blinking circle w/slash mark through it also when i unplugg usb ipod screen goes to checkmark sign and ok to disconnect does that mean my harddrive needs replacing?

I one of these programs will not kick the iPod out of recovery mode you will have to restore the iPod.

Please Help! Ipod 5th gen stuck on restoring

I started downloading the ipod touch software from Itunes on my Windows PC( File size 1.20GB) and then I started updating my device.
When it finished downloading my itunes closed & my device was stuck with the picture with the Itunes Logo and the lighting connector.
I did not know what to do cause my device could not sync with Itunes. When I tried again I had to update Itunes to its current version, but it still did not conncet util I had to find the problem and fix it. Before I fixed the synching error I put my device in DFU mode and the Ipod starting to restore & extract the files.
After it finished extracting the files my ipod turned off & on Itunes it said waiting for Ipod, & then timed out with an error. Then the second time it happened is when it switched of again but when I turned it back on another error poped up saying unable to restore Ipod.
I have been strugglinng fpr 5 days, watching videos how to fix this, reading articles onn how to fix this & even looking up at this community & searched through everything but nothing worked.
Every time I swich my ipod on that Itunes sign stays there.
I tried over 9 times resoring but still the same errors and still the ipod turns off.
Does anyone have a solution cause I tried searching for all kinds but none work.

The same thing happened to me, while restoring my iPod Touch Generation 5. I don't know if you are still caught in the same loop but this worked for me. I am using a MacBook Air running Mountain Lion version 10.8.2. iTunes is at version 11.0.
After running through the published Restore procedure without any success I found the Software Update file had downloaded as:
"/Users/my_home_directory/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod5,1_6.0.1_10A523_Restore.ipsw"
The ~/Library directory is invisible on my machine, more than likely a design standard. I used a terminal to first locate the file and then to copy the file to a readable location, my Desktop.
My iPod was still stuck in Recovery Mode so I plugged it in. iTunes was already running and identified the Recovery Mode iPod, prompting me to Restore it. I clicked OK.
I held the option key while clicking Restore. This opened a navitation window that enabled me to select the Software Update .ipsw file I had copied to my Desktop. The Restore process then ran without any failure and the iPod is now running again.
This is not a formal solution as far as I can tell, nor have I verified the procedure across multiple iPods, multiple scenarios, etc. I just wanted to share it as an "at-your-own-risk" alternative you might want to try.

Ipod 5th gen stuck in recovery, unable to restore (3014)

so today i updated my itunes to the newest (11.2.0.115) after installing it came up with an error suggestion the ipod had been disconnected, it hadnt.
my ipod became stuck in recovery mode after several attempts at trying to turn it off and on. after plugging it in again, it came up with "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes" i then started the restore and after extracting the files had finished it came up with
"the ipod "ipod" could not be restored an unknown error occurred (3014)" i cant seem to get pass this and my ipod 5th gen is stuck in recovery mode.

IPod 5th Gen Stuck On Charging Screen And Wont Turn Back On

So my ipod was fully charged and then just randomly shut off... I plug it back in and it goes to that charging screen it goes to when it actually dies on you.. its been stuck like that for over 3 hours and wont turn back on... i need help. i've tried the different suggestions in discussions to no avail. when i plug my ipod up, it says it needs to be restored . i click restore, it runs the process and says it'll start back up and never does. i unplug it and it says run itunes to restore. please help

Okay ... rather than doing a full format, let's instead see if we can do a disk check, and see if that gets the ipod to the point where a restore will "take" properly on the iPod.
There's vista instructions in the following document. Check both "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors":

Ipod 5th gen stuck in recovery mode.

When i plugged my iPod in it would turn on to the apple logo and then switch off again.
i held down on/off button and home, it then told me to connect to iTunes. usually when it does this i restore it and it is fine.
I plugged it into my iTunes and it will extract the software, then start restoring it.
after about 5-10 seconds of restoring it it switches off and iTunes gives me an error message.
I have had error 8, -18 and also one which was 2000 and something that i can remember off the top of my head.
How do i sort this?
I have updated my mac software to the new OS X yosemite to see if that helped but it hasn't.

You'd probably find a better deal with another store trade-in program. I know Radio Shack in years past purchased used Apple products and in return customers received a gift-card; I think you'd get more bang for your buck... more than the messily 10% Apples offers.

DVD Stuck In Drive And Can't Get Passed The Gray Page.

The disk is stuck in my 3 and 1/2 month old new mac book pro mid 2010. And it is also stuck on the gray start up page. The wheel under the apple will spin for awhile and then I get a message to turn the power off and restart. I have tried several times but the same thing keeps happening. Have tried recommend ways to eject the disk. Does not help. Is there anything else I can do ?

If you have tried all the commonly recommended ways of extracting the disc, take the machine in for service under your warranty, and be sure to have it noted that there's a disc in the drive that you need back (so it won't get separated from the machine after it's removed).

I can't get to recovery on mac pro 2008

I'm trying to clone my info from my main Mac Pro HD to a new SSD drive but I can't get to recovery mode and Drive Genus won't let me select the main drive as a source. So: how do I get to "recovery mode" with a non mac GPU or is there any other way to do this???? I have a 760 gpu.

Clone your system, keep two such, one as WORKING backup you can boot from and use if needed, a 2nd would be best if it were a small clean Apple only plus essential drivers and utility programs for emergency maintenance and such tasks but nothing else.
The system only really takes about 30GB if that, a small emergency system then could be 20GB if you want and easy to find space.
But, you need 10.6.8+ to get Apple security updat es and such, and to get access to the AppStore, support for iTunes and more.
