IPod (60) Freezes with Vista  shuffle (1GB) OK

I have a clean install of Windows Vista (Business) when I try to sync my iPod 60GB it freezes then blue screen of death and KERNELSTACK_INPAGEERROR. The one Gig shuffle is fine ... I only get this problem with iTunes and syncing with the 60GB iPod. Has anyone else seen this? This is not one of the problems specifically cited by Apple or Microsoft.

Upgrading my Nvidia SATA driver and iTunes reduces the crashes to once a week or less.

  • Ipod not compatible with Vista??

    Hi:
I bought a new Dell computer that came with Vista. I have an ipod Video with iTunes songs and other recorded CD tunes I've put on the system. I can't get the Windows Media Ctr. to find my iTunes [are they not compatible]? Has Apple got a lock in on this music? Now I can't synch with my ipod for new music or synch in general. What's the story?

According to Kim Komando's newsletter today (what a name - and she claims it's not made up!), Microsoft has just released a patch that will allow iPods to work with Vista. Sorry I don't have more info - I know I won't be getting Vista for a while, so I didn't pay any more attention to how to get it or where.

  • Ipod classic compatible with Vista Home Premium 64 bit

    Hi,
Is the Ipod Classic compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit?
I found out the hard way that the Itouch is not!
    Greetings,
    Miguel

If I could I would answer your question.
But I do not know how I did that.
Itunes has been working since day 1 on my 64 bit machine, only problem is that it takes half a minute to copy album cover art to song in itunes, the computer is hanging for 15 seconds before the album cover art is copied.
I just took the Ipod out of the box and connected it to the computer and it worked fine.
Only problem that I had yesterday is that when I'm intergrating album cover art my hard disk is doing strange things.
Just yesterday, my RAID 1 was corrupted by Itunes, first hard disk 1 was failing and an hour later hard disk 2 also crashed.
Was able to reconnect them into RAID 1, luckilly.

  • Ipod wont work with vista?

when i first got my ipod nano i had windows xp then i got a new computer with vista now every time i plug it in it says usb device not recognized so i click on the bubble and it says No drivers are installed for this device. so i go to change settings then i hit up date driver then i click search automatically for updated driver software then it says windows have determinded the dirver software for your device is up to date so i go and plug my ipod in again and is says the same thing!!!!!! my ipod will not show up in itunes or my windows can anyone help me out here this has been going on since march and my ipod hasn't had any new music on it since i got vista!
p.s i have restarted the pc and tried to plug my ipod back in
i have download the latest itunes
i have tried everything nothing will work!!

I figured out the Vista problem I believe that most people are having and believe me I was getting crazy over this until I figured out that Itunes 7.6 only works with the Ipod touch in Vista 64 Bit versions. Sooooo I downloaded version 7.4 and it came up with an error that the itl file was created by a newer version of itunes...so i did a search under dos because i hate vista's file search program..but i wont go into that...for those not familiar with command prompt ...select command prompt ... type cd.. until you get to the c:\ directory then type dir *.itl /a/s/p it will show you where the itl file is located and you can delete it... then install itunes version 7.4 from one of the various sites offering older versions of itunes.. and voila ipod magic... stupid isnt it...kinda crazy i can get my ipod touch to work in Linux and not in Microsoft Vista...

  • Serious problems with my Shuffle (1GB)...

Alright I am having serious problems with my Shuffle that have been going on for some time.
    1) Whenever I plug my Shuffle into the computer the green light stays on constantly and my computer doesn't detect it.
    2) My PC 50% of the time crashes about 10 seconds after my Shuffle is plugged in.
    3) Whenever I get my computer to detect my Shuffle it automatically disconnects and reconnects itself very quicky (every 30 seconds or so).
    4) Whenever I try to update the drivers on it it displays an error message on my PC saying "Disk Write Error" in the update window.
    Any suggestions?

    I'd give this a shot:

  • Ipod Touch freezes with Itunes

I have a 4th Gen Ipod Touch and have Windows Vista and after the new update of Itunes 10.4.1, it freezes Itunes when connected to my computer. Itunes works fine when the Ipod is not connected, but once I connect the Ipod the program freezes. If I disconnect my Ipod then it unfreezes and begins to work again.
I've tried restarting my computer, reinstalling Itunes, and trying all the different USB ports in my laptop since that worked once when Itunes wasn't seeing my Ipod.
I believe it is a syncing issue because the first sync that my Ipod does with Itunes is very slow and takes up to 20 mintues to finish. After the first sync everything begins to work fine and at a normal speed.
I ran a diagnostic on Itunes and it told me that everything is fine but it can't read my Ipod even when it's plugged in.
Is anyone experiencing a similar problem, or knows of a good solution?

  • IPod 80GB freezes my Vista 64bit totally

I upgraded my PC recently and now I'm running Vista 64bit. Installed latest iTunes and connected my iPod. It installed something for short while and then was just supposedly looking for some driver (install icon spinning on task bar) never getting anywehere. Finally I removed my iPod as nothing else helped.
Now whenever I plug in my iPod it is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device under devices. If iTunes was running it freezes, if not, it does not start up. If I go to My Computer, iPod prevents any other USB mass storages from showing up and freezes My Computer too. I've tried uninstalling USB Mass Storage Deveice (iPod) under devices but that too freezes up never completing.
If I shut down iPod service in computer management, it at least lets me see my iPod with correct name under My Computer along with other USB removal storage devices (the USB hub in my monitor). When I try to access my iPod through My Computer it crashes again.
When I unplug my iPod, everything I was trying to do suddenly goes through and iTunes opens.
I cannot uninstall anything iPod related while it's connected and the entries are gone from under devices when it's not connected.
    What is wrong?

Have you heard anything on how to fix this issue? I'm having the exact same problem.

  • IPod Touch connection with Vista

My iPod touch is not recognized by Windows Vista. On the same computer the iPod video works well. I have the newest version of iTunes 4.7, which should have the driver included, but Vista keeps looking for the driver.
    Any suggestions?

Just wanted to add one more solution to using iTouch with 32 bit version of Windows Vista as I spent the last 72 hours trying to get my daughter's iTouch to work with a new Dell Inspiron (w/ Vista Home). I tried disabling/uninstalling and reinstalling from the Device Manager as noted in previous posts in this thread. Was almost ready to throw in the towel when I did one last search for alternate solutions and found the following instructions to reinstall the drivers, but to instead of having the system look to the c:\Windows\inf or c:\windows\system 32 folders for the drivers, the path is changed to c:\program files\common files\Apple\Apple Mobile Support\Drivers, which is apparently where Vista installs the drivers to. Once I changed the path the driver properly reflected the iTouch as a USB device, and not a digital camera. Hope this helps anyone else who is having the same issue.
    Try these steps:
    1. Log in using an ADMINISTRATIVE account
    2. Verify you have the following files usbaapl.cat, usbaapl.inf & usbaapl.sys in the following directory "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers"
    3. Single left click on START
    4. Single left click on RUN
    5. Type in " devmgmt.msc " then hit Enter (Don't type in the quotes)
    6. Look for Imaging in the Device Manager window, and click on plus sign (In Vista you may not see the "Imaging" option. Look under "Portable Devices" as an alternative)
    7. Now you should see " Apple iPod " as a device underneath Imaging (or Portable Devices)
    8. Right click on " Apple iPod " then single left click on Properties
    9. Single left click on the " Driver " tab
    10. Single left click on " Update driver "
    11. Select " Install from a list or specific location "
    12. Single left click on " Include this location in the search "
    13. Paste " C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers " (Don't type in the quotes) into the box below " Include this location in the
    search "
    14. Single left click next and keep clicking through until " Apple iPod USB Driver " is detected.
    15. Start up iTunes, and see if you iPod is detected again.
For anyone trying to copy over their music from the iTouch to a new PC running Vista, I used TouchCopy (http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/). Once I got the iTouch to be seen by iTunes you close iTunes, install TouchCopy and then start the program, it will then look for your iTouch and once you connect it it's a snap to copy the music to your iTunes library.
Hope this helps anyone with sames Vista/iTouch issues. Good Luck!

  • IPod iTouch working with Vista

I purchased a 16g iTouch, because my 1st generation iPod finally died (actually i dropped it).
I installed and it worked great. Syncd up perfectly. The next day, it would not recognize my iPod. Calling Apple support, they had me restore - and it worked perfect. Next day, same thing would not recognize my iPod. This time Apple support had me uninstall anything apple on my pc and then restore. It worked, but they had me reboot my pc. Guess what. It would not recognize my iPod.
I took it back to the store and actually upgraded to a 32g iTouch. Came home, followed steps, syncd up first time then it wouldn't recognize my iPod again.
Yesterday, following instructions from the Apple Genius, all my music was wiped off of my pc. I started all over, uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. It worked great.
Today, I come home from work to resync and to finish loading all my cd's - guess what, it didn't recognize pc.
I'm at wits end. Anyone having issues with running Vista and recognizing your iPod?

I have posted this before. I'm running Visat SP1 and the only was iTunes will find the iTouch is if I switch off the Wi-Fi on the Settings page of the iTouch!
    Best Regards
    Steven

  • Anyway to get an Ipod to work with Vista X64?

I recently built a computer under Vista X64 and remarkably enough, the most manufactured piece of hardware I hook up to it is the only one that isn't supported by its manufacture. Whether or not this is extreme incompetence or complications, I will never truly know but anyways....
Is there anyway to sync an Ipod with a 64bit version of Windows Vista. I don't care whether it is through Itunes or not, I just need to be able to add and remove video and music from my Ipod.

You can try Winamp or Xplay.

  • Downloading Garage Band for iPod Touch 4g with 8gb, 1.1gb left, but still wont download, despite GarageBand needing ~510mb

When I purchased and try to download Garageband for my ipod touch with 1.1gb left, it says that there isnt enough memory, despite the app store saying it requires ~510MB. What can I do to resolve this?

You need to delete some items from the iPod.  Yu can also convert your music to 128 kbps ACC via iTunes on the computer.  The 510 mb is the compressed file size and it requires at least that much more to extract and install the app.

  • Cannot get iPod touch going with Vista Ultimate

iTunes gives me a message that the iPhone only works with 32 bit versions of XP or Vista. I have Vista Ultimate on my laptop, which is 32 bit.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I cannot get this thing going....

Well what does the system panel say under the control panel? Should tell you on label "System Type"
64-Bit is not supported. Not sure why since iTunes knows the iPod is there. iTunes thinks its a iPhone instead though.

  • 80 GB iPod Classic freezing with upgrade to iTunes 9.2

So, I finally got around to upgrading to iTunes 9.2 and when I plug my 80 GB iPod Classic into my computer (Windows Vista), iTunes freezes. My iPod says it is connected, but it doesn't show up in iTunes and when I plug it in to iTunes I can't listen to any music or do anything in iTunes.
Is there a way to rectify this problem?
    Thanks for reading.

Before you update your iPod, reboot it (hold down middle and top button until the apple logo shows up and then release the buttons) once the iPod menu screens come back then connect to iTunes.

  • InDesign CS3 freezing with Vista

Recently upgraded to Vista 32bit. InDesign CS3 files are freezing.  Unable to open files again even after ending program and rebooting computer. Help.

Once I try to open an .indd file, InDesign keeps trying to open it
without success. I have to reboot my computer to get it InDesign to
open. When it does open, it shows all functions but it won't open any
files. Tried moving the Suitcase folder to another location but
couldn't. Had difficulty just getting the fonts to work in the
beginning.  Do you advise uninstalling InDesign and then reinstalling?
Is this a compatibility problem with this version of Vista?  Should I
    consider upgrading to CS4?

  • Ipod nano running with Vista

Anyone heard of Ipod/itunes crashing Vista. Have upgraded to Vista, running Raid 1 (mirror 2 HDs). Each time we plug in our brand new nano and try and do the updates, etc. it has crashed one hard drive. Not sure if the HD itself is bad or if it just broke the Raid. Let me know what a solution could be. Now scared to plug the nano back in for fear of this happening again.

I've got a RAID 0 configuration, and have suffered data loss whenever I connect my ipod.
Let's hope Apple find a solution soon. It's shocking that they dont report this as a known issue.
