Ipod 6G not enough memory

Hi, this is probably all my own faul, but i recently got an ipod touch(4G - 32GB) and linked it to my account, synced it, bought some apps etc and generally was having fun with it, but last night when i went to sync my 'older' ipod nano(6G - 16GB), i got a message telling me that there was not enough memory left of on the nano to sync which i find hard to understand as there are only around 500 songs on it, no photos etc, when i started digging further by looking at my devices etc, it looks like i never had the nano as it is not registered to me even though while plugged into my laptop, the nanos name comes up correctly. what has happened, thanks for any help that you can provide.

Hi TDUB55,
If you haven't already, the first step would be to reset you iPod:

If the issue persists, as long as you have any data on the iPod backed up on your computer you may want to try restoring you iPod to factory settings to see if it resolves the sync issue:

  • Can't synch Ipod because not enough memory

I just bought an iPod Classic.  When I tried to synch it showed about 80 GB of data, but I got the message, " The XXXXX iPod can not be synchged .  There is not enough memory available.  Anybody have an idea of what is going on?

    Are you Mac or PC?
On the PC I read to go to the *Device Manager*, then highlight the Computer and then in the Action Menu click *Scan for Hardware Changes*
This seemed to fix the problem for me. I also restored the system. Not sure what order since I was just trying everything!
    Good Luck

  • IPod cannot be synced. Ther is not enough memory available

When I try to sync my ipod i get an error that says "iPod cannot be synced. There is not enough memory available." I checked and I have more than half of my iPod's memory free. What can I do to fix this? I have glanced at a few somewhat related issues and they keep mentionin the iTunes upgrade. Is this true? If so, are they going to put out another upgrade??

I've tried all these. I was hoping for some guidance..not some form you answer every question with. I already know how to trouble shoot. I don't think it's my ipod. I think it's my itunes..

I followed the advice of another user, cleared my payment information and re-entered my credit card info and this took care of it, I was immediately able to download new purchases. Apparently they called and got this info from someone at Apple, there is some sort of "bug".  worked for me...hope it helps you out too!!

Top download and install apps you need space available on the iPod equal to about three time the file download size.  If you download more than one app at a time you need about three times the total file download size available so it is better if short on storage to purchase one at a time.

  • How can I get all photos from iPhoto to automatically back up to iCloud from my Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 operating system.  Not enough memory to upgrade.

How can I get all photos from iPhoto to automatically back up to iCloud from my Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 operating system.  Not enough memory to upgrade.

You can't.  iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and  The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your (mobile) device using iOS 5 or later. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .....
    What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails
But not from a Mac.  If you want to backup your photos and other important files I suggest you get an external hard drive and use  it with Time Machine.

  • Downloading itunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory".  How do I fix the memory issue?

When dowloadning tunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory.  I've deleted tunes from my library & ipod and I still get the error. How do I get around this?

It could be the newer version of iTunes requires more physical memory than your computer currently has available.
Do a right click on "My computer" and check out your computers memory/RAM specifications.
Windows XP is a bit bloated in the latest updates, trying to get people to upgrade to Windows 7, might be little room for other programs, especially one as huge as iTunes.
If you finally do choose a new machine, I have some tips:
For 3D gaming laptops, I wouldn't pick any graphics card scoring less than 1000 on this sites scale. Not scoring less than 2000 for towers.
    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I would also choose a quad core processor scoring 5000 or better on this scale,  64 bit,  Windows 7 Pro (so you can virtualize your XP programs) or OS X, and 4GB of RAM expandable to at least 8GB or future proofing your investment.
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
I would also choose 7,200 RPM hard drives for both towers and laptops for performance. On laptops while using the battery, set the energy savings to stop the hard drive spinning when not in use. Only choose the slower 5,400 RPM drive option if your always on battery and need maximum life as you lose about 20% with the faster drive, but gain 20% or more in performance.
Dual cores and 32 bit processors/OS with their 4GB RAM limit is soon to be old news.
For laptops, I highly recommend anti-glare displays for maximum use in any environment.

  • The iPhone could not be restored. There is not enough memory available.

    Hi guys,
you all seem the be fairly acquainted with all possible iPhone problems. I was searching this forum for an answer to my problem. iTunes won't restore my iPhone because of an error mentioned in the title of this topic - The iPhone could not be restored. There is not enough memory available. I haven't found anything on the net that I haven't tried yet.
Am using Windows XP, iTunes 7.4.3 and the iPhone used to be on the firmware 1.0.2. I was trying to do the restore but it gave me that error message. I tryed uninstalling everything with WinASO registry cleaner, iTunes, apple device thing(or whatever), installed it 3 times, tried to force the previous firmware with Shift+restore, but nothing. I also tried to switch USB ports. I followed the instruction on how to remove iTunes exactly like it was described in another thread - no success.
Is there any help you can maybe provide, but don't tell me to go/send it to an Apple Store, since I live in Europe, where there is no official iPhone yet.
    PLease help

    Hi,
is there a newer version of iTunes than 7.4.3, which I am already using ?
    I don't think so.
And no, the iPhone has not been hacked before, I was using it like iPod, internet browser and stuff. But no calls.
My version of iTunes say 7.4.3.1.
I assume that by saying that your iPhone has not been hacked before means "it has never been hacked."
Are you paying AT&T for monthly service?
I would still try to download a fresh copy of iTunes if possible.
If it does not work, I think that you need to take the iPhone back to the Apple Store or call AppleCare for assistance. The store, and AppleCare, has a number of software tools to potentially diagnose the problems you are encountering.

I have a gig of ram and 13 gigs of free space on my hard drive. What gives? Has anyone had this issue? Tried restart and activity monitor says that ram is available. Nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the exact same thing, you figure this out yet? I still can't use it...

  • Not enough memory when converting???

I've imported a 21 minute 720p video in to iTunes for Windows. It plays fine in iTunes. Then I try to convert it to iPad format. About 1/2 way thru the conversion, I get a message "Error occurred while converting the file XXXX. There is not enough memory available. I'm running Windows 7 with 4GB memory and hundreds of GB of disk space free.

I'm also having this problem. I'm trying to convert a 1080p movie to play on an ipod. I have more then 200GB of free space, and 8GB of RAM. Can anybody offer some help?

    Hi ketch123,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
The first article below provides more information about the memory issue that you described above. And the second will walk you through updating the iPhone Over the Air or wirelessly.
iOS: If you can't back up or restore from a backup in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529
    Free up space
To back up or restore from backup, you need to free up enough space on your hard drive to store the backup or the capacity of the device.
If iTunes couldn't restore the device because not enough free space was available on the device, follow these steps:
Choose Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings.
Try to restore from the backup. You may need to restore from a smaller backup or create a new backup.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
    Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install to download the update. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install when the download completes, or tap Later to install the update later. If your device is passcode enabled, it will ask you to enter the passcode before installing the update.
Some iOS updates aren't available as over-the-air updates. VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.

  • ITunes 5 - not enough memory available?

Installed iTunes 5 on Sept. 7 and worked fine for about a week - then a couple days ago started getting message "The iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available."
What happened? What can I do about this? Now we can't play music or update any of our iPods, so I need to fix this or back up to prior version.
    Advice, please...

Ohhkaaay....downloaded iTunes 5 from Apple website (looks like there's a Sept. 9 version? but software update didn't find anything new), installed and now it works.
