IPod 7th gene won't turn on (tried everything!!!)

I bought a new ipod since my old one broke. And it's a brand new one. It works when I connect it in the computer to sync and it has my music and plays. But it won't turn on unless it is connected to the charger. I have left it charging and it still isn't charged full it says. I have restored it, I have reset. I have tried everything that this website and other questions show and yet it still won't turn on. I have even updated my iTunes. Still nothing. Can someone help please?

Hi Darksakura1,
If the issue you are describing has persisted even after a full restore, you may need to have your iPod nano serviced, or at least evaluated. You may find the following page helpful:

  • My iPod (5th Gen) won't turn on and my home button isn't working?

Hello! For the past two weeks my home button hasn't been working and since I'm too lazy to go to an apple store I just started using assistive touch instead. But ever since yesterday my iPod won't turn on which I know is a normal problem with as easy fix, to restart the device, but that requires a working home button, which is something I don't have. I've tried using rubbing alcohol to fix the home button but it won't work, if anyone has any other solutions I will be forever grateful!

    Try:
    Turn on without Home/Power Button

  • My iPod 5th gen won't turn on!

My iPod 5th gen was working fine last night and after charging it won't turn on with power button today. I'm not able to reboot using home button and power button simultaneously because my home button stopped working couple weeks back and I was using touch screen for home function. Any suggestions on how I can reboot without the home button working? Thanks!

  • IPod 2nd gen won't turn on!

My buddy of mine has been having trouble with his iPod.
The main thing is that it just doesn't turn on or respond when I plug it in while having it try to charge. It just doesn't work at all.
I tried pressing home & start button at the same time for a long time but it still won't turn on.
I believe its on the 4.1 iOS.
Iv'ed tried almost everything to try to fix it.It just won't turn on!Please I need help.

    There are two possiblities here.
Either; the iPod's battery is (was) fully drained and that's why it doesn't turn on. In this situation, once it's plugged into power, it will not show any signs of life, possibly for thirty minutes or so. When it does show life, it needs to be left on charge so that it has enough power to run once it's unplugged.
Or; the iPod is "stuck" doing something and cannot move on until it has finished. (I have no experience of this with my iPod Touch, but it has happened on my Classic.) This "stuck doing something" may mean that the iPod cannot turn the screen on to let you know what it's doing! So by plugging it into power, it has enough power to keep trying to finish what it cannot finish! (Are you still following this?) The solution in this case is to unplug the iPod and leave it alone until it has run out of power. Once that happens, the iPod cannot continue to "try and finish" the task - because it has no power. And when it does get power back, the very first thing it should do is set every switch, ciruit and thingy (a non-technical term, you will notice!) to a known condition, which means it should then work again.
*To summarise:* if leaving it on charge does nothing, leave it unplugged for a few days (so that the battery drains down fully) and then plug it in to power, wait, and see if it springs into life.

  • My iPod 4th gen won't turn on

My moms iPod 4th generation 8 gb won't turn on. She was gone on a trip and it was low on battery and went dead so she plugged it in all night and the next morning it would not turn on. This was over a week ago I've plugged it In to a computer and nothing happened. I've tried holding the home and power button various times and nothing happened. I haven't tried resetting it yet but I will if I absolutely have too. Also she thinks maybe the wall pluggin wasn't working correctly? Any ideas? Please help me out. Also their is no apple store anywhere near me so that's not really an option. She doesn't have the newest iOS either it's 6 point something don't know exactly.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod 7th Gen will not turn on or be recognized on computer.

My Ipod has been doing great. But this morning a friend gave me her speaker dock for a Ipod. I decided to try it out and I plugged it in. It is one of those Ipod docks that has the functions to switch to radio and alarm and then to Ipod and so obviously I was trying to figure it out. When I did find the function for Ipod, I pressed play and did not hear anything. a few more trys here and there and then I noticed my Ipod went black...as in turned off. So I took it out to turn it back on and no good. Even tried hooking it up to the computer and as well the Ipod nor the computer registered. EVen tried my second computer. Please...someone help.

For starters, try to Reset the iPod
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • IPod 5th gen won't turn on.

I have a 5th gen iPod. It had a full battery and I locked it. About a minute later I went to check the time and it wouldn't turn on. I have plugged it into a power source and into a computer and there's no response. It won't show up into iTunes and nothing happens when I hold the top lock button for an extended period of time.
The home button doesn't work so I've been using the accessibility home button for a little while so I can't hold both to force reset. What else can I try...?

    YESSSS, ITS WORKING AGAIN.
Unfortunately I cracked the screen trying to un-jam the home button. It's minor and you can't even tell it's cracked though. Still completely useable. I'm just glad it's working again for now. I'm going to replace it with an iPhone eventually.

  • IPod 7th gen won't power on

    Hello
My iPod kind of froze and I turned it off as an attempt to reset it, and it hasn't been able to turn off since. I tried holding the home and sleep / wake button; didn't work. I tried connecting it to an outlet; didn't work. I tried plugging it into my laptop, didn't work (and I let it 'charge' all night!) Im just out of warranty so I'd hate to have to buy a new one. Any suggestions help.

I also let it sit for awhile (more like 2 weeks)  hoping that it would fix itself. Obviously, no luck.

I have a 5th generation ipod touch, I forgot to charge it the other day and tried charging it after I realized it had died. the rest/wake button wouldn't respond and neither would the home button. Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

  • My iPod Touch (3G) won't turn on?

I've owned my iPod Touch since June 30th, 2010 (a little over a year). I am no longer under the warranty, so I know that if my iPod is broken, I will have to pay. My iPod has been dropped several times, it has cracks in the screen, but the screen hasn't chipped away like others. It's never been dropped in water, so I don't think water is the problem. I'm also positive the headphone jack is broken, as several pairs of working headphones have not worked on it unless a decent amount of pressure is applied. Anyways, back to the major problem. My iPod will not turn on. I'll hold the power and home button, and the apple logo will come up, but it won't take me to the lock screen, it will simply go black again. It won't charge at all, and the only time I can successfully turn it on is when the iPod is "charging". However, the second I unplug it, it goes all black. All help is appreciated!! Thanks!

Same problem here - Ipod touch 3G won't turn on. I've tried reseting - but absolutely no response and when I try to restore, before it completes the restore, error 1600 comes up. This is my daughter's ipod and we've tried all of this after plugging in to a wall charger overnight and then using a pc and then mac and still nothing. Any suggestions?

  • My new  iPod 7th gen is syncing but no sound

I have just received my iPod 7th gen. It is fully charged and set up.  I have synced my music files to it. When i play a song no sound comes through but on the iPod it shows as playing.  Is this a fault with the ipod?  The earphones work fine as i have tested them on my ipad. I have also restored the ipod to factory settings and resynced but am still having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated

    - Have you tried when connected to other networks?  Maybe the router is blocking the ports used by Safari and the other apps.
    - What kind of network are you using? a personel or bussines?

Try a hard reset of the Nano. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
I assume you have double checked to make sure you are plugging the headset all the way in meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano?
