  • IPod acts weird sometimes

    Hello,
Until recently, the 'other' part of my iPod would usually stay at 0,01 GB. Sometimes when I'd sync it, it'd become sligthly higher, but when I clicked away and then returned, it would have corrected itself to 0,01 GB again.
Then about a week ago, it suddenly went to 0,04 GB, and it wouldn't stop it. So I tried restoring it, which somehow made the max capacity go from 1.77 GB to 1.80 GB, and it removed the problem, so yay.
But for some reason, the problem appears about every second or third time I sync the iPod, and disappears when I restore it.
Does anyone know of a fix, so I won't have to restore it every few days?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

  • IPod acting weird with Podcasts.

Over the last few weeks, my iPod has had issues with podcasts. When i have a new podcast on iPod, the blue dot is displayed next to it. However, recently the blue dot had appeared next to old podcasts/vidcasts which i have already heard.
When i look at them in iTunes, they appear normally, with a playcount of 1 or above, and no blue dot.
    Anybody know whats going on?

  • Ipod acting weird... tried tons of stuff

So this is my third ipod (4th gen 20gb click wheel). No, i didnt break the other 2, the broke themselves. so when this ipod started skipping through all of my songs without playing them i wasnt really worried, i thought i could just send it in and get another one.
then i found out my warranty had expired 2 weeks prior.
so i tried everything, i scanned posts and looked for problems similar to mine, but nothing worked. for a while my ipod was fine again, but now it is messed up.
heres what it does: it will only play about half of my songs; it freezes and then skips to the next song on half of them.
i did a reset, and then it said that it had a total capacity of 98mb, and that it had 176mb free(***?)
and now it wont start up. i cant mount it, because when i do, it just freezes on the charging screen, and i have to reset it.
i have even tried the trick that the "geniouses" at the genious bar do, holding the left and middle button while it is booting up to get into test mode, but all the test come back fine.
i did get a chance to reformat it once, but it didnt solve anything.
    any help is appreciated!

From my past experience, it is a bad sign, and soon your iPod will show a Sad Ipod or a folder with exclamation mark. Having said that it is not end of the world, I would like to make two suggestions:-
    1. Send it for repair and it is still under warranty, in return you will get a refurbishment one.
    2. If you do not want to do it, (I cant find a reason why not) go to find a Mac (or you can go to an apple shop) and do a Restore there. Once it has been completed bring it back and do a Restore with your PC. I have an iPod photo had the same problem and got solved by doing a Restore with a different kind of computer i.e. Mac's iPod fixed with a PC.

  • Music dissapeared, ipod acting weird - HELP

Ok so i came home today and decided to add an album to my Ipod. I hooked it up and transfered. Great. So then i tried to listen to some music and i discover its EMTY, at least i couldnt see any songs! not an album, artist playlist or song! nothing! But it still says im using space on my pod.
I tried a reset... twice, no go. Then i followed a friend's advice and tried to do a restore. I opened up Ipod updater and clicked restore, the little bar comes up as if its going to do it and then it dissapears and in its place i get a lovely error message which says "Firmware update failure. Disk write error."
And now i cant even access my Ipod any more!! when i unhook it from my PC and turn it on i get a little folder picture on my screen. OMG.
Some help would be.. very very appreciated.
    Thank you

Call up Apple customer support on the phone since your iPod comes with a one-year warranty. 1-800-SOS-APPL From the sound of it, your iPod's hard drive is physically damaged.

  • Ipod classic acting weird

my ipod classic started freezing, so I restarted it, and it had deleted everything, so I connected it to my computer, but neither iTunes or the computer could detect it. When I plug it in, the ipod acts like when plugged in, and I can't eject it because the computer can't find it, and everytime I just pull it out of the charger, it uses about ten minutes saying ''OK to eject'', before it restart again by itself. What should I do???

    Hi Ninariannemc,
Happy New Year!  Are you working with a Mac or a PC?  The link below will walk you through the basic troubleshooting steps for the iPod classic.
Apple - Support - iPod - iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Having trouble with your iPod? Follow the steps in the order. Complete them one by one and stop as soon as the issue is resolved.
Step 1: Make sure your iPod is fully charged
Make sure your iPod is fully charged and then toggle the Hold switch on and off
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip:If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
    Retry
Retry your iPod with a different USB port on your computer, not a USB port on your keyboard or hub.
    Restart
Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
    Note:
To update your Windows software, select Windows Update from the Tools menu of Internet Explorer.
To update your Mac OS software, select Software Update from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall
To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest version of iTunes.
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab. iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.
If this does not resolve the issue, try completely uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling the latest version of iTunes. For more information select from the following:
    Mac OS X|XP|Vista
    Restore
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
    How to restore your iPod:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Note: For Mac users, A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
I hope this information helps ....

    Hi,
I work for Dr Pod, an iPod repair company. This sounds to be that the hard drive is dying in the iPod. As it is an older iPod it is out of its one year warranty, the iPod won't be repaired for free by Apple, and you'd need to consider wether it'd be better to have the iPod repaired by an iPod repair company such as my own, or to purchase a new one from Apple.
If you did choose to purchase a new iPod from Apple, then they do provide 10% off the cost of a new iPod if you exchange in your old one. I'm not sure if this applies to faulty ones though (I have heard of some people being turned away for having a faulty device).
    Hope this helps,

If your device has been jailbroken during the warranty, Apple will not service it.

    Hey there MeKai Curtis,
It sounds like your touch screen is acting strangely when connected to a power source. I recommend the steps in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • On/Off Button on Shuffle (1Gb) Acting Weird

My Second Generation iPod Shuffle started to act weird after about 3 months of flawless usage.
When pulled from the charger, Shuffle will play music as expected as long as I don't touch the On/Off Button. (Regardless of the state of the button)
If I toggle the button, the Shuffle will appear dead until I replace it on the charger again. (Nothing works in On or Off Position)
At first, I thought it was a battery issue but was suprised to find that it played with the switch in the off position right off the charger.
I did recently update my iTunes and also updated to the latest iPod software. (Problem may or may not have happened post-upgrade)
I have tried the everything listed on the Apple Website except the Reset Utility. (Will try that tonight)
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue and also if anyone has any ideas as to the resolution. (Other than Sending it into Apple for Repair)

I think your contact for your switch may be dirty or damaged
Your best bet is to see if you can try to cleen under the button or take it to the store to have them replace the contacts on the power button pad
And no reset will not help with it , your probally dealing with an electric problem.

  • Apps acting weird and doing actions against my will.

Hello I'm here to write about the latest issue I got on my iPhone 5c, while I was writing a message my app started acting weird. Successively I moved to another app and it did the same thing so I suppose it's a general problem.
Ex: while I write my iPhone clicks and opens other options on the page by itself.
While I scroll down on tumblr app it clicks other options by itself like unfollow, changes pages, as if I clicked those options but I didn't.
Like on whatsapp for instance, while I write it opens the user id, the user info, shuts the keyboard down as if I did it but I didn't at all.
Also now while I'm here writing this sometimes it acts as if I clicked on he top bar and opens the http:// of this page, but I didn't.
While I'm on drafts/notes app it does the same, I wrote a long message last night hoping it would help being that out of an app which needs connection but it happen again; while I was about to finish it clicked the delete button by itself and everything disappeared.
Also now again, I luckily copied this email line by line in order to prevent it from delete everything I wrote again.
I just need to know if there's something I can do or if I should just take it back to an apple store since it's still pretty new..

    Hi there NellieKlash,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.
