IPod Adding Songs Not in Playlist

Because I have too many songs in my Library, the iPod created an iPod Selection which I add the songs I want on my iPod on iTunes for me.
In the summer, my sister added songs to my Ipod as hers had broken. I do not have these songs in my Selection, but they (and others) repeatedly add themselves to the selection, and appear on my iPod.
I am not adding these songs to my selection, but they keep 'randomly' appearing. Can anyone answer my question as to why, and what I can maybe do to stop this happening? Thanks, Coral

Interesting.
I would try unsyncing all Music by unticking the Sync Music box at the top of the Music Sync device age.
Then resynch just want you want and see if that clears the issue

  • Album art and recently added songs not syncing to ipod.

They've synced before, but now when I've given album art to every song it doesn't sync. Nor have recently added songs. Nowhere to be seen on my ipod.
Then, on top of that, no matter how many times I've restored, authorized, and played around with my account, it randomly doesn't sync songs that I've bought from Itunes.
Help would be so, so much appreciated.

Are you syncing all music or selected playlists?

  • Sync all songs, not the playlists

    Hello Everyone,
I have a quick problem I'd like help with. I was wondering if it is at all possible to sync all the songs in the library, just not the playlists. I use a shared computer so there is a lot of unwanted playlists. So is this at all possible? Thanks.
    Cheers,
    Ken

Have you considered using "Sync Music - Selected Playlists" and creating a single playlist with links to all of the songs in the library to update from? The rest of the playlists will remain in iTunes. Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Ipod touch songs not clickable in iTunes

    Hey everyone.
When i click the arrow by the iPod Touch icon in iTunes.
And then click a playlist, i.e Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The songs in the playlist are not clickable.
Does anyone know why? And can help me fix this?
    Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You can't play content off an +iPod touch+ within iTunes. Just select the playlist or song within the Library itself.

  • Why can't I access the playlist button when adding songs to a playlist?

Under iOS 6, when editing a playlist (adding music to it), I had access to the playlist button in order to add all the music from one playlist to another. Under iOS 7, one can only access the song, artist, album, and composer buttons from the Edit/+ screen. So if I want to add 5 songs that I know are together on another playlist, I have to find them again in an alphabetical list?  Yikes, a severe downgrade in functionality under ios7. Will this ability return or am I just missing something obvious that should let me do it?

In an effort to go minimalist they went brain-dead. I have a library of over 7,000 songs. I create my playlists through playlists when I am on the go. And I rarely ever create a new playlist at the computer because I rarely even use my computer, much less synch my iphone/itunes manually with it.
And not only did they eliminate the add from playlist feature, you cannot edit an existing playlist while “on the go” - only those created after i0s 7. Also, you can no longer create a playlist by selecting the genre. But wait - you can select the “Composer". Really?! I don't listen to my music by Composer. Whose idea was that. Now am I supposed to reorganize my music library and categorize songs by Composer?
As the other poster said, the "on the go" list is now virtually unusable. Now I have to go to the computer (which I rarely do). They really took the on-the-go/music app back to ipod-2008. Really a huge leap backwards.

  • Itunes/ipod adding song problem

everytime i go to add songs, it wont let me, and under my ipod where it says music, when i click it, the font is not bold but lightened and i cant add songs nor delete any, how do i fix it? thanks

As an addition, these are the directions for something I'm trying to add to my notes, thus why I want to find Ipod as a device in my computer.
    1. Mount your iPod as an external drive via FireWire or USB, just as you would to work with iTunes.
    2. The iPod will show up on your computer just like any other internal or external drive.
    3. Open the iPod “drive” as you would with any disk on your computer.
    4. Open the notes folder on your iPod on your PC or Mac - on Windows it will show up in My Computer, on the Mac in the finder sidebar, or in the Computer (use the Finder’s Go Menu to open your “Computer” window)
    5. Drag the unzipped folder titled WDWToGoTrial, or WDWToGo_LiveTrial or WDWToGo__MenusTrial into the Notes folder of your iPod
    6. Unmount your iPod and you're done

I restored the ipod then it told me that it couldn't be restored file not found. All the song titles and covers are uploaded on the ipod and won't delete off. I thought maybe I'd just start all over. I just got this for christmas, could it just be defected???

  • Added songs not showing

I have added loads of songs and they are showing in my files, but showing on iTunes. When my wife looks at my library she can see the songs and play them. When i search for them they show, but cannot be selected. It looks like they need to index or something. Anyone got any ideas?

If you are using itunes Match update this. Store > Update iTunes Match
If not then try looging out of itunes store and logging in again
Final option I have found on these threads is to download the free single of the week and that can somehow just clear things...

  • HT1347 Adding songs with multiple playlist

When you have multiple playlist and have to create another one and after that adding(selecting one by one) songs from library of 200 or more songs that becomes very difficult. IS there any other way out ?

You need to reRIP the songs as one.
Insert the CD, select the consecutive songs then iTunes menu Advanced -> Join tracks.
You can delete the first songs you imported.

  • Show songs not in playlists?

    Searched everywhere...
How do I see in "music" which songs are not in a playlist?
I have about 10 playlists to organize all my songs. How can I see which songs have not yet been assigned to a playlist?
View Options and Smart Playslists don't seem to allow this.

  • When I download music into Itunes and move songs into playlists, Itunes has twice randomly deleted all recently added songs from the playlists they have been added to.  It is driving me crazy.  Has anyone else had this problem?

When I download music into Itunes on my PC, every song is transferred into a specific playlist.  Twice now when I have opened up Itunes, all the recent songs that have been moved into playlists have been deleted by Itunes.  I now have to go back and figure out which songs are missing and re-add them.  It is driving me crazy. I have 10,000 songs and now have no idea which ones are missing and which ones have been retained.
Please help.  Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi TRuss08,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like songs are missing from iTunes on your PC, and need to be re-added. I know that can be a frustrating situation.

  • Itunes not seeing Ipod and songs not playing Ipod

I have a couple of issues just wanted to know if anyone has run into. I have a couple of computer one running Vista, the other XP, neither see the ipod in itunes, both see it in Windows. That is the first problem. I have also tried all of the suggestions in the troubleshooting section of this support website, except re-installing the operating system. The other issue is that the ipod does not play the music that is currently stored on it, it acts like it is going to and then stops the screen turns black and the apple logo appears, any ideas?

    Hello betel23,
Have you tried resetting the nano yet? To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears. I would try these more than once just in case.
Otherwise, try forcing the iPod into *Disk Mode* using the instructions in this Apple support document. It may help your iPod mount as an external drive on your system as well as get it to appear in iTunes.

  • Added songs not in library, show up in lib search though. ***?

Using iTunes 11.0.1.12 on Win 7 Pro.
After upgrading to iTunes 11 I started having the following issue:
when I add songs to library, whether through drag-n-drop or from top menu, the songs gets copied to library folder but is not visible in library.
However, iTunes search finds the song and the artist with no problem, artwork and all however nothing happens when I click "play next" nor can I locate in library when I click on search result. Quiting iTunes or restarting computer doesn't help. Does anyone have a clue? Thank you!
Edit: found a workaround - add more songs, sometimes they all suddenly show up!

If you are using iTunes Match then when you have imported or downloaded. I have found that the following works
Ctrl B to show the top menu
    Store > Update iTunes Match

  • IPod Shuffle does not play playlist of podcasts, instead separates them into unique lists by podcast

Very frustrating. In previous versions of the shuffle I was able to select to listen to all podcasts in a row automatically. Now I can't seem to figure it out, I tried creating a playlist as I do with music, however the shuffle is smart and figures they are podcasts so just enters them in as such. Then I go to play them and it separates them into different playlists depending on the podcasts.
Engineers: it wasn't broken to begin with so stop playing around with features and just create something usable... maybe it's too much to expect from Apple with Steve Jobs gone. A waste of $50 if you can't help me figure it out.

whether or not the genre has been "rebranded" to music
FYI - The way to "rebrand" an item to reclassify it as a different type of iTunes media is NOT with the Genre setting.  Instead, select the item in iTunes and do a Get Info.  In the Info window, go to the Options tab.  Change Media Kind to Music, Podcast, Audiobook, etc.  Changing the Genre setting does nothing to change how iTunes categorizes the item.
I loaded a couple Music playlists to see what would happen.
Playlists are playlists...   There in no distinction between a "Music" playlist and a "Podcast" playlist.  It's up to you do load them as desired.
If I actually wanted those music playlists to function as such, though, I'd be out of luck.
I don't understand.  Just load a playlist that only has podcasts on it (your "Podcast playlist"), AND one or more other playlists that only have music.  Then VoiceOver will read then off separately, and you can choose the one you want to hear.  If you take a look at the artcle I linked previously
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4322
where is says Changing playlists and To choose an item from the playlist menu, your description basically matches what it says there.  So, glad to hear your shuffle is working as designed...
