IPOD and Alpine

Hi, I bought a 30 gb IPOD VIDEO and i cant make it work with my car stereo ALPINE CMA 9855, im the only one that cant solve this problem? is it common? anyone can help or know any url with any solution?

HI, i have just bought an alpine headunit 9853 with Alpine KCA - 420I ipod interface.
The stereo its self is pretty much top of the range but when the my ipod video 60GB is connected to it i cannot access the playlists. The ipod turns on automatically with the adaptor but the stereo messes with the ipod settings. It turns REPEAT on and turns off SHUFFLE if i happen to have it on, and obviously the biggest problem is that i cannot access all playlists. Only one song from each album/playlist is accessible.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a firmware update for alpine or ipod that will fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Dominic
Ps my ipod is upto date.

  • Any ideas on problem with ipod and alpine cde-9881 car stereo

I have an ipod 60gb v 1.2.1 and a new Alpine car stereo with Ipod connecting cable. When connected, the stereo message reads IPod searching. It never assumes control of ipod,or quits searching. I have reset and restored my ipod, had the apple geek at genius bar check it out. My ipod does not play on the alpine ipod ready stereo in my husband's car, nor the stereos in Car Toys. My husband's 30 gb ipod plays on the stereo in his car AND my car. Help! Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Alpine is telling me it could be a software problem with my ipod, and to revert to an earlier version of itunes. But my husband's ipod works in my car. So I did a restore using his computer and itunes....no luck. am interested in any ideas on a possible solution!!
    Thanks in advance

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • IPod and Alpine stereo

My new car stereo an Alpine 9884 will allow my iPod 8G classic to play, and quick search, but it won't let me choose play lists.
I thought I saw a thread about this and someone posted a fix. I've been looking for over an hour for the thread though and can't find it.
    Can someone help me?

My iPod works okay, doesn't show all the information like Playlists or even let me change between the playlists but I can live with that... I just have to take out the iPod and change it to another playlist manually...
I'm a way too big of a chicken to plug my iPhone into it though!

  • Ipod Video and Alpine CDE-9852 Problem.

I'm having problems with my new Alpine CDE-9852, and my black 60 gig ipod Video (1.11 software verison).
When I first pluged in my Ipod to the unit I got Error 01, my first thought was that I needed to install software on the ipod, but from reading the owners manual I didn't see anything about that.
With the car still running I unpluged the Ipod and pluged it back in, it worked. I Went though the menu's, played all kindas of songs, no problems.
When I got home I thought I would play with it a bit, because it takes forever to go throw all my songs.
Then it just stoped working, getting Error 01, sometimes it would connect and get the check mark, but you couldn't control the Ipod, sometimes it would connect with the alpine logo showing my ipod, but when I go from track to track in a playlist it would crash and give me Error 01.
I have noticed that it would connect if I played a song on my Ipod but paused it, connected it to the cable, then started the car.
But it would still soon crash.
I just bought the unit from bestbuy today, I'm going to go back tomorrow and see if they can replace it or something.
maybe the cable needs to be repluged in.

I plugged it in, started my car this morning and it working fine, no problems at all.
Drove all the way to work, went thought my artists, played differnet stuff no problems.
I'm still going to go to bestbuy today and see if I can duplicate the issue, with them watching.

  • New Problem w/updated iPod software and Alpine Integration (4th Gen)

I have been happily using my 4th gen iPod with my Alpine head unit and Alpine iPod adapter.
A few weeks ago, I updated my iPod software to the latest version. Now the iPod sometimes behaves strangley. I encounter the following problems:
    1) Sometimes when I turn the car off, the iPod now won't automatically go into pause and then turn off. It will just keep running with the car off and ultimately wear down the battery.
    2) Sometimes the iPod does go into pause mode and turn off when I turn the car off, but then it won't wake from its slumber. The only way to get it working again is to perform a reset.
These problems seem most persistent when listening to Podcasts. Although I have not yet narrowed it down to exactly that. Also, I do not get problem #2 when the iPod is NOT connected to the Alpine unit.
Any help of info would be appreciated. I am not sure it's the new iPod software, but that's the only thing that has changed and it's been working perfectly up until now.
    PS: I have done the 5 R's.

    Anyone?

  • Click wheel ipod and vista question

Hello, I have a 4G click wheel 40 gig ipod (updater version 3.1.1) and I have been using my mothers computer which has windows xp and i haven't upgraded itunes to the version 8. I was given a new computer (32 bit) which is running windows vista basic. My question is am I going to have problems with using vista basic and my older ipod? I have heard that it was turning older ipods into bricks and have been scared to transfer everything over to the new computer.
Also, I am using it with an Alpine KCA-420i (got it the same time as the ipod) in the truck, and it worked great for a while and for the past two years it freezes up, skips songs or just won't work and was wandering if it was due to upgrading itunes? The last time the ipod was updated was for the version it is running now.
I am trying to be careful with my ipod since it got frozen during an ice storm (no electricity for nine days) and left in the truck in bellow freezing temps for a couple of hours. The hard drive didn't appreciate it and is now not really working all that great. clicking, whirling ,grinding noises ya give it a couple good whacks on the back or sides it starts to work again. I read some post on reformatting the disk, last time i tried it the ipod froze but now i am going to try again. I did the diagnostic mode solution and it keeps getting frozen in the HDD scan.
Sorry this is long, but if anybody has any suggestions or answers that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't have a guide or anything, but it is almost as easy as replacing it with another hard drive, and there are online guides for doing that, for example
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Device/iPod4th_Generation_orPhoto
Be sure to use those plastic tools. If you use metal ones, you will damage the iPod's case.
And it's a Compact Flash card that I used, not an SD card (which is smaller). Compact Flash cards 16GB and below are getting affordable (if you shop around online), although 32GB and higher ones are still expensive. 4GB cards are very cheap, so you may want to try it with one of those, to confirm it works, since it is always possible there are other problems with your iPod.
    1. Get one of these adapters, or equivalent. It's $5 with shipping included.
    [CF Compact-Flash SSD To Toshiba IPod 1.8 inch Adapter|http://cgi.ebay.com/CF-Compact-Flash-SSD-To-Toshiba-IPod-1-8-inch-Adapt erW0QQitemZ180303249125QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Cables_Adapters?hash=item29fae93ee5& _trksid=p3911.c0.m14&trkparms=72%3A1240%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A2% 7C294%3A50]
The listing above on eBay is the same item from the same seller as the one I bought.
    2. It fits in the iPod case with only one minor mod. There is a pair of jumper pins, used for the master/slave setting; you can see it on the image in the listing (on the left side). You want it with the jumper ON, for the master setting. It sticks out too much, so I just bent the pins 90 degrees with needle nose pliers, and the jumper still fits. If your 4G iPod is the 40GB model, it has the thicker drive and case, so it may fit fine without bending it over.
    3. Connect the Compact Flash card to the adapter and connect the adapter where the 1.8-inch hard drive was connected. You need to put something non-conducting between the logic board and the adapter/CF card. A stiff piece of paper (like a business card) would work; I cut a piece of clear plastic from the +impossible to open without hurting yourself+ packaging material that most tech products come packed in these days. Cut it to the right rectangle shape to fit between the logic board and adapter/CF card without sliding around.
    4. The adapter plus CF Card is much smaller than the hard drive, so you need to fill that space to avoid it rattling around. Cardboard pieces would work, but if you want to take advantage of the lighter weight, get something light. I used some of that flexible foamy packing sheets that are used to wrap around delicate items for shipping. I cut appropriate size pieces to take up the extra space. I put one layer between the adapter/CF card and the logic board and the rest between the adapter/CF card and the metal half of the case.
Then, you just connect the iPod and run a Restore, as if it was a regular 4G iPod. The three key advantages are better shock resistance, lighter weight, and no drive spin-up delay. The only real disadvantage is lower capacity, unless you get a more expensive CF card with higher capacity.
Note to other readers: I also tried this retrofit with an older 3rd gen iPod. It did not work for me and the parts I used; I could not get the iPod to format or restore with the Compact Flash card inside.

  • Video iPod with Alpine DVD HeadUnit

Just wondering with the new 5g Video ipod can u get the video to be played out on the alpine dvd headunit. For instance, right now i have the 4g ipod and i can hook it up to my alpine headunit via the ipod adapter so i can view the playists and play music off my ipod. So, can i play a video playlist from my ipod and have it output to my dvd screen in my car? Anyone? Thanks!

I have the alpine setup, though not with a screen and I'm going to say no, because the iPod control box doesn't seem to have a video output, only the audio one...i've been listening to my fave movies while I'm in traffic though, a pretty cool little trick...

  • An ipod for an ipod and a bluetooth for a bluetooth!

I've had no luck getting my Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones to work. Has anyone had any luck?

I have two S9-HDs... I've gotten both to work, but not without issues.
There are some days, they work MUCH better than I would've expected. Example, once connected via bluetooth, my headphones will get "dropped" once I plug into my Alpine radio in the car. That's fine, the unexpected nice part was, as soon I as disconnect from the car, I can immediately hit play and hear out of the headphones again, without reconnecting.
Then there are other days where it takes me 10-20 minutes trying to get the headphones to connect without "stuttering" or dropping my connection. Usually, I have to hit connect TWO or THREE times, even if it says "connected" on the first attempt. Because for whatever reason, the first attempt isn't actually connected. It is, as best temporary, so you do hear some music or it stutters (which is incredibly annoying).
You might have to do that also... go to ipod and turn on bluetooth, wait a couple of seconds, then turn on the S9. Hopefully, you'll get something like "Motorola S9 unpaired," cause if you don't, then I don't know what to tell you.
If you do get that, tap it, eventually it should ask for a passkey. For most bluetooth, it's just 0000 (four zeros). Then it'll try to connect.
On a fresh pairing or re-pairing, you don't have to tap connect more than once (usually). It's only reconnecting after you've disconnected (and you will when your battery needs to be recharged).

  • Multiple iPods and users on one computer and constant dialogs....

Everyone in my family has an iPod (total of 5) and we each have logins with our own iTunes accounts. This works very well except for the following. Each time someone logins in (or user switches) when an iPod that is not theirs is plugged in, they get a dialog telling them so, and requests one of three answers. This is anoying, and when my 7yo clicks on the wrong button it wipes out what his brother or sister or Mother or I have on our iPods... We can get the stuff back of course but it's a PITA!
Is there any way to have iTunes completely ignore iPods that are not synched to it! I would prefer to not even have it show up in iTunes or on the desktop. Although this would be exceptable over what i have now.
    TIA

"Is there any way to have iTunes completely ignore iPods that are not synched to it!"
No there's not, iTunes will always give you a message if you sync to a "foreign" library. However, you can set the iPods up so that iTunes doesn't open when they are connected. Connect the iPod and when it shows in iTunes click on the icon to bring up the preference tabs. In the Summary tab uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected". You have to do this for each of your iPods in turn.

i had one for a long time, then when i got the ipad i didn't realize they would all still work under one so i set up the second one on that
then when i got the new iphone i put in the info for the first and main one from my mac pro and it would not work at all, and i knew it was right, then it asked me to create a new one or i couldnt finish the setup
hence why i have 3 now
hard to believe you cannot combine into one
oh well, i will just make them all accessible for all 3

I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone.  How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them.  You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up under one account.

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

  • My family of four (2 iPhones, 2 iPods) all share the same iTunes account.  Many text messages sent to or from mine or my husband's phones are also received on my daughter's iPod, and vice versa. How do I fix this?

How can I keep text messages sent from my or husband's phone from being received on daughter's iPod, and vice versa? We have five devices on one iTunes account - 2 iPhones, 2 iPods and an iPad.

    Hello Hrd1977,
This is typically caused by both devices sharing an Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime.  I would recommend signing out of iMessage on your daughter's device.  Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out. Then sign in with the desired Apple ID.

    60 gb video   Windows XP

    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
