IPod and Laptop stolen...Recovering music possible?

My laptop (which had the iTunes with all the purchased music) and iPod Touch was stolen in Europe. I am planning to buy a new iPod Touch and was wondering if I could download all the songs I had purchased from the online iTunes or Apple store? (Made a mistake of not backing up all the music). Please advise.

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
However you could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and explain the circumstances to them, you may find that they will sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on the link at the bottom of this page you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

If you use iTunes store, you can download the lost content only buying it for the second time.
The rules are different in many other places.

  • My Ipod and laptop were stolen...how can I duplicate all my purchased items

My ipod and laptop containing my Itunes library were stolen. How can I re-download my purhcased items without paying for them again. When I go into the store and check my download history and request available downloads I get a message saying all available downloads have been done for this account.

Copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the music folder) from your old computer to your new one, using one of the methods outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

If that's not a real email, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • I updated my iPod and some of my music disappeared

I updated my iPod and some of my music disappeared

Sync it from your iTunes library.
    If necessary
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you updated via iTunes, it the synced media like music was not in your iTunes library it is gone. Yo will have to get non-Tunes purchases the same way you obtained them before.

  • IPod and laptop sound in a room

    Hello,
I am designing a yoga studio and want sound in the room. With my experience yoga teachers have their own ‘song list’ on an iPod or laptop and want to plug in to the amplification system when they teach. What I would like to offer in the room is the ability to plug their devices into the in room sound system. An iDock would be fine but this would not allow teachers to plug in their laptops. Is there an application on the market (like a wall iJack) that would allow plug in of both iPods and laptops?
    Thank you,

    No.

  • Bought a used Ipod and when installing software, music on Ipod is gone

I bought a used Ipod, and after I installed the software and got my Ipod reformatted, all of the music that was on there is gone.
Is this supposed to happen? If not, could someone please tell me how to recover all of this music?
And if that is supposed to happen, that's just pathetic. There isn't anything in the user guide or anything that says that installing an Ipod on a different computer will complete wipe out whatever was stored on it.

restoring means setting the ipod back to factory defaults and wiping it clean
reset means reset - toggle it back into active mode

  • I've just bought an 80gb iPod and need help with music videos.....

...I've downloaded a music video which iTunes has put in my library under Music when I thought it would be under Movies. I can't move it to Movies, it won't let me. I can only transfer it to my iPod as a music file. How do get to watch it on my iPod?
    Thanks
    Andy

I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one.

  • A friend took my ipod and put her own music on it..now I can't get it off!

So she took my ipod and put some of her own music on it on _her computer_, and when I plugged my iPod into _my own computer_, the music that she put on my iPod won't show up in my playlist. I tried syncing my iPod but that didn't work. What do I need to do to get that music off my iPod?

    Hey there,
For now, you could just restore the iPod in iTunes, and resync just your own music back onto it. You can find instructions on how to restore your iPod [HERE|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339].
    Hope this helps.

  • RESTORED IPOD AND NOW PROBLEM PLAYING MUSIC

By accident I restored the factory settings on my ipod and now when I sync it all the music is "grayed out" in my playlists and library and I can't change my play lists and manage my music. It does go on my ipod, but we have 2 ipods on this computer and I want to have my own playlists again. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are in the USA and using the latest iTunes you can use the iCloud beta. See:

  • Lost connection between ipod and laptop

    Hi there,
Not sure if this is a question for ipod or itunes, but here goes.
I recently purchased a 5th gen ipod and installed itunes on my 2 PC's and a PC based laptop. All worked fine.
Now when I connect the USB cable to the laptop, I hear three quick beeps, (not the usual 2 beeps) my ipod starts charging, but I can't see the ipod in itunes.
When I check device manager, there is an entry with a yellow question mark (labelled ipod) which says the driver is not installed. However when I load the itunes CD, the wizard says no drivers found.
My ipod works fine on the 2 other PC's.
I tried system restore but for some reason it fails to go back to any restore points. whether that's part of the problem or a red herring, I haven't a clue.
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks
