IPod and Nikon Coolpix S2 compatibility?

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying the ipod 60G but want to make sure it's compatibile with my cameras. I have a Nikon Coolpix s2 and a Canon PowerShot G3. Is it compatible with those?
Thanks!
Custom   Windows XP

I really would wait till someone contacts you that has already taken the plung and physically tried it with your camera type as I checked the Ipod compatability webpage and my camera is listed but having bought the camera connector I cannot get it to recognise my Canon 20D, If you can get to a Apple shop I would take your camera and try before you buy!

  • HT4757 I have a Nikon CoolPix P80.  Am I correct that this is simply not a sophisticated enough model to be covered by the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Updates?  It is never listed.  Thank you.

Raw is the raw data from the camera sensor, before it is turned into a jpg.  From what I can tell looking at the specs for the P80, it does not have Raw mode. Therefore it will not show up in the compatibility table.

The best thing to do is download the trial of Lightroom and see if it works for you. The trial is the complete program. The only thing different about the trial is that it expires after thirty days. Your images stay in the folders you already have so there's little risk. Good luck!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
You could also try reformat the Card with your camera

  • Problems with Nikon Coolpix P7700 and Lightroom 4.4 with camera raw 7.4.

When I import raw (NRW) files (size 3000 x 4000 pixels) from my Nikon Coolpix P7700 to Lightroom 4.4 (camera raw 7.4) it seems that Lightroom doubles file sizes. In Metadata section I can see that picture´s file size is 25.xx Mb. Camera´s sensor size is, however, only 12 Mb. I have also Nikon D300 and imported raw files (size 3000 x 4000 pixels) in Lightroom 4.4. are varying between 12.xx and 16.xx Mb. I´m very confused about the situation. I have iMac 27" (late 2007) and operating system is Mac OSX 10.8.4. Can somebody explain what is happening. Is there a bug in Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 or what?
    Thank you in advance
    Eero

You are mixing megapixels (your camera takes 12 megapixel photos) with megabytes (the file size). These two different units cannot be compared, and I conclude from the numbers you have provided that nothing is wrong.

  • Nikon CoolPix P7000 and Adobe Premiere CS5.5

Just purchased Adobe Premiere CS5.5 and want to hook up my Nikon CoolPix P7000 camera to import video.  Any advice related to this camera in particular or cameras in general and capturing video to Premiere would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Kyle

Capturing is only possible over firewire from tape based cameras. Your material needs to be imported, after you have copied all the data from your card to harddisk, including the complete directory structure.

  • Ipod and another MP3 compatability

We have an ipod, and recently purchased an Nextar MP3 player for our daughter. The songs are not downloading on the new MP3 player, either from itunes downloads or CDs. Is there a compatability issue, or how can I get the songs to download to the MP3?

iTunes for Windows is only compatible with the iPod range or with the iTunes enabled phones from Motorola. iTunes purchases will only play on these devices. You may be able to get your player working with the aid of a third party helper program but that would only allow you to add non iTunes songs. Have a look at this one and see what you think: iTunes Agent -Windows
Check out the manual for your player to see what method it uses to import songs. Most will have their own management software and many just operate as simple USB devices and you can drag tracks from the iTunes Music folder rather than through the iTunes interface.

  • Lion and iPhoto and Nikon Camera

Hello. I don't know if this is a Lion or iPhoto problem. So I'm posting this here. I have a Nikon Coolpix 990 camera. I took some photos today. When I attempted to import the photos to my iMac (2009, i7) running Lion with iPhoto 09 version 8.1.2, the camera wasn't recognized and I could not import my photos. However, when I connected the camera to my Macbook Pro late 2008 running Snow Leopard v. 10.6.8 and iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5, the camera was recognized and the import was successful. I rebuilt my iMac's iPhoto library but I have not attempted to sync my camera to it as I deleted the photos. Why was I unable to import the photos to my iMac?
    zoz

The pictures were able to be uploaded to iPhoto using a card reader. Apparently, in Lion, support from Nikon is no longer provided.

  • Nikon Coolpix S1

I am considering buying a Nikon Coolpix S1, but I want to make sure I can download photos from it using my iPod + video with the camera connector. I have checked the list of compatible cameras and it is not there, so I am looking for someone who may have successfully tried it.

the iBook should be good for you all that is a major difference is max RAM(iBook has more only 256MB), proccessor but that's only a 0.17GHz or 170MHz, one can have a superdrive(powerbook), and the powerbook has a 64MB graphics card instead of 32MB difference so i would say go iBook it's what i'm doing (plus i like the color).either way just do the right thing and get the mac don't go cheap and buy a windows system (unless you are going to put linux on it but then it's a huge hassle i've tried it).

  • Possible to get songs OFF your Ipod and onto an external HDD or your PC?

I have songs on my Ipod that are NOT on my PC (thru having to manually manage my library in the past over 2 'smallish' HDDs in my PC).
When I open my Ipod from within Windows I 'see' the songs in the Music folder as .mpeg4 but no song titles so I can't differentiate between them. For example, a song is listed as CVFK.mpeg4, another as DPKQ.mpeg4 etc ...
When I open the Music folder on my Ipod from within i-TUNES I can see the songs I want, I can "highlight" them, right-click and 'COPY' them, but for the life of me I can't seem to 'PASTE' them anywhere...like IN MY LIBRARY which is on my new external USB HDD.
Why be able to "COPY" if you can't do anything with them? It seems you must be able to, but how? I WANT to copy them off my Ipod and put them into that new exteranl HDD that has 75% of my i-tunes library...the other 25% being my Springsteen collection that at the mo is ONLY on my i-Pod.
I am using a 30gb video ipod with latest software (1.2.1), iTunes 7.1.1.5 (latest) and a fully-updated MS Vista Home Premium.
ANY assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

The transfer of non iTunes Music Store content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 and Windows Vista so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described for instance but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated that will let you transfer individual tracks then there are a number of third party utilities that will do what you want. You can use these to retrieve individual music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, check for Vista compatibility as they may not all have been updated yet. Some of these are free and some are commercial but generally they are not very expensive. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod

  • 30G Video IPod and Windows Vista - Help!

I just recently bought a new computer equipped with Windows Vista. I have a 12" G4 iBook that was my main computer from which I ran my 30G Video iPod, and now I am wanting to sync my iPod with my new Windows computer, and this will be the only system I use with my iPod.
I realize there are many problems with compatibility of iTunes/iPods with Windows Vista.
My question is, barring the problems with iTunes, I downloaded the latest iTunes anyways and tried to use Yamipod to bring my 1600+ songs onto my computer from my iPod by bypassing iTunes. Problem is, my computer doesn't even recognize the iPod at all. iTunes does, but when I cancel the box asking me to reformat my iPod to Windows format and try to use Yamipod, Yamipod doesn't even recognize an iPod existing. I thought maybe it was just the program, so I tried about 4 others, but nothing. I also used the cd that came with my iPod and put the drivers onto this computer, but the actual computer still doesn't even recognize it plugged in.
Any ideas? Also, because a lot of my songs are in m4a format, how will that work if I am able to put them on this computer? Will I have to convert them all to mp3?
Thank you for any help you can give.

And given that Vista has been available in Release
candidate version for ages and that the release date
has been known for ages, shouldn't apple have made
the effort to make itunes compatible with Vista?
After all, the vast majority of itunes users live in
    Windows land.
perhaps you should familiarise yourself with the common usage and implications of the symbol string
but as you clearly aren't familiar with it, if i took your question seriously, which i don't, then the answer is no...
your argument is that being first and being in the majority rules
that'll be apple then won't it
    i) i can't be bothered to check the itunes release date, certainly it was out in 2001, which is several years before microsoft even figured out what to call the os formerly known as longhorn, let alone finished sawing off the pieces it couldn't make work
ii) the majority of people with portable music players use ipod/itunes, so it is for microsoft to conform with the majority and not make changes that impair the products used by the majority
so, by your own argument, it is microsoft's responsibility to maintain compatibility

  • IPod Classic 7th Gen Docking Compatability

I have a brand new iPod Classic 160GB with latest software version (2.0.5 PC) that is barely a week old. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get it to work properly on both the NAD VISO 1 speaker dock and the B&W Zeppelin Air (both also brand new - purchased for the iPod). The iPod docks OK with both, but the playback doesn't work properly with either one and it's frustrating the $@!^*!! out of me.
VISO 1: I have the latest firmware version on the unit and have been in contact with NAD. After confirming that I have latest firmware, they decided the unit was defective so I returned it for a brand new replacement. The replacement has the latest firmware as well and behaves the same way. The iPod will play back normally for awhile (length of normal playback is very variable) but eventually when it come to the end of a song, it just stops playing. The iPod screen still show's the unit in "play" mode, but there is no progress on the song time bar (stays at 0:00) as if it was paused. When this happens, the unit no longer responds to the remote. I can manually pause/play the iPod directly, but it does not progress. If I undock the iPod with it still showing "play" it immediately begins playing once disconnected from the NAD. Re-docking it causes it to freeze in place again. The only way to recover the NAD is to power cycle it. Once power cycled it will play normally for awhile before locking up again - as frequently as after every song. I have an older iPod Classic 80GB running firmware 1.1.2 (which is the latest for that unit) which behaves exactly the same way as the newer iPod on the VISO.
It seems highly unlikely that 2 separate brand new units would be defective in an identical fashion and seems more like a compatibility problem. I offered to communicate directly with the engineers so they could look at it and hopefully make a firmware fix, but according to NAD, the engineers tested a 160GB iPod there and were unable to reproduce the behavior. The NAD sounds great and I really want to make it work, but I can't accept it if this can't be fixed.
B&W Zeppelin Air: Decided to try the B&W since the NAD doesn't want to work right. First thing I did was upgrade it to latest firmware. Could not get it to play with the iPod at all. It connected (battery icon showed it as plugged in) but wouldn't play. I could start play manually on the iPod - and unlike the NAD it WOULD begin playing, but no sound came from the speaker. I tried with the older iPod, and it played perfectly - and sounds outrageously good too. I went back to the 160GB and still couldn't get it to play. After some trial and error, I finally discovered that if I skipped forward or backward a couple tracks, it would finally completely connect and begin playing - but the playback speed is slow. Being the holiday, I have yet to hear back from B&W.
I'm very frustrated. Both of the units sound amazing when they play, but if I can't get them to work right they are worthless.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry, not much expert here on SSD mods, you may get better response in the iPod Mod forum.
It has a lot of posts on successful SSD swaps and also some nasty experience on SSD which does not work on some iPod.
Read through the forum and learn together with them, and avoid frustration of getting an expensive SSD, which the iPod firmware can't recognise, and also there is not enough voltage to power up those old SSD using 5volt rails, iPod hardisk uses 3.3volts rails.
    Good Luck!.
