Ipod And The Washing Machine.

Hi everyone,
This is my first time so here goes. On saturday my stupid husband has put my much loved, brand new ipod nano 2gb through the washing machine as he didn't check my coat pockets. It was ok to start with and was still working yesturday (Sunday). However I have gone to put it on this morning and it won't switch on. I have put it on charge but it is putting up the apple symbol then flashing the battery sign up and the going dead again. It is repeating this sequens every few seconds. Is there any way to either get the back off or to get it fixed?????????

Hmm.. I would have taken the back off right away (when it was still wet). I have fixed many battery operated items by blowdrying it dry right away.. and I have seen (in discussions) someone who laundered their ipod and managed to get it working again by letting it airdry (with the back off). Your ipod may still have some water in it which is causing it to malfunction... although the poster above worried me slightly with the exploding story.
Get some goggles on, and go for it, I say. It's either that or an ipod funeral. Good thing my ipod's prepared for the occasion... already dressed in black.

Forgetting ipod in the washing-machine =__=!

I forgot my ipod nano in the washing-machine.
At first it couldn't be turned on.
After i had plugged it with the charger , it was active.
But when i unplugged it , the light & words slowly disappeard & the nano turned off .
What can i do now ? Please help ! thanks a lot

Leave your iPod to dry out naturally for a week or so. Don't plug it in to any power sources (computer, charger etc.) in the meantime. After that charge it up and with a bit of luck it may come back to life again.

I only had my ipod nano for 1 month and I forgot to take it out of my pocket yesterday....I did a washing machine with my nano inside and when I took it out I tried to turn it on...it did a final light and then no answer........I placed it on a cloth on a heater overnight but my nano is still out of function.........What can I do?
How much does it cost to repair it........

leave it on the heater for a few more days, if that doesnt work your nano is probably messed...you probably gotta go buy another one.

I washed my ipod in the washing machine

i plugged it in and the screen was dead. after a while, an apple and a battery with an exclamation point flashed after i plugged it in.
i put it in a warm dry area for a week. now when i plug it in there is an outline of a battery with a lightening bolt on the left side. it isn't the charging sign though. help me?

oh my god. I never heard of that. When I read the name of this topic I though to myself did it clean the ipod? let me know. ok I recomend goign to the apple store and ask them what to do. Oh search the web for that and I will ask someone for help on aqua-soft.org

If you put your iPod in the washing machine, there is still hope!!!

Hi washed my ipod (accidentally, of course) and I let it dry for almost 3 weeks... AND IT STILL WORKS!!! The secret? LET IT DRY!!!! do NOT try to turn it on... If you try to turn it on right away, you will burn the circuits and your iPod will be ruined! I just hope this is usefull to someone, Good Luck!!!

You can probably wait a couple of weeks to see if it drys up.. I don't think Apple can repare if for free but you can send it in and they will fix it for you but you will get a big fat bill!!! lol

so i went to bestbuy and they say put in the rice. so the rice can suck the water.
after that if it still doesnt work im screwed right?

Your iPod is likely permanently dead. Even if it started working it probably would eventually fail do to corrosion processes which have been started.
Look for a replacement.

IPod put through the Washing Machine

Well, I put my month old 60 GB iPod through the washing machine this past sunday and as one would assume, I'm having problems with it. As far as it stands right now, when I plug it into my computer it will occosionally alternate between a sign that it's charging or a battery with an exclamation mark. The majority of the time, however, it shows nothing. Also, there was one instance that I connected it to my computer and the apple emblem came up... and stayed up, even after I disconnected it for a few hours. Given all of that information, does anybody have any suggestions or have anything to say to offer me a glimmer of hope that my mistake may be reversed? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My uncle has had his phone fall in a coffee mug and he managed to revive it but that was becuse he has had this happen befor. I think that you might have already screwed it up forever but it is still worth giving this a shot.
Let the iPod completely dry out. Dont touch if for like a week or somthing and then it should be ready. Plug it in and if it doesent work its never going to work again. If you get a connection with you computer then you can restore it and it might save it.

Their is a couple of options you can choose from, First try putting your iPod in uncooked rice, leave it there for about 2 - 3 hours. That should get the excess water out of the ipod. If teh screen still doesn't work, you may need to get serviced by Apple:

Leave it in the rice for at least a day and change the rice every other day or so. The rice and iPod should be in a sealed container.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $149. They do not fix yours.

If so, the water will conduct the electricity between the wires and short circuit the device. If you weren't thick enough to try and turn your device on immediately after you took it out of the washing machine, then it should be fine if you just let the water evaporate. Another technique (to make the water evaporate faster and, on rare occassions, to save a device if you've turned if on while there was still water in it) is to put the device in rice and let it sit overnight.
