IPod app: can't update podcast

1. In the iPod app on my (original) iPad, I select a podcast (e.g. MacBreak Weekly) and see that "Salty Snacks" (episode 244) is the last one I have.
2. I choose "Get More Episodes…".
3. The iTunes app takes me to the MacBreak Weekly page in the iTunes Store, where I see that "It Just Looks Thicker" (episode 245) is the most recent one.
4. I click on the FREE button and then the GET EPISODE button and episode 245 starts downloading. I watch it downloading completely in the Downloads section.
5. I switch back to the iPod app and see Macbreak Weekly just as it was, i.e. the most recent episode is still 244 "Salty Snacks", and I can't find the episode I just downloaded.
Any ideas why this is happening? Some notes:
1. I have a similar problem using the Music app on my iPod touch. The difference is that, on the iPod touch, the iTunes app won't let me try to redownload the episode; it appears to remember that I've already downloaded it, even though the episode doesn't show up in the Music app. On my iPad, I can go back to the iTunes Store in the iTunes app and redownload (even though the download never shows up in the iPod app).
2.The same problem occurs with any podcast I try to update; i.e. this isn't just a MacBreak Weekly problem.
3. I'm using 4.3.3 now but this problem has persisted for quite some time on the iPad. On the iPod touch, updating sometimes worked during the 4.3.2 days.

  • I can't update podcasts after updating to 11.2

Widows 7 64bit. When I click the update button, things start normally for about 2 seconds then stalls. After about 3 minutes, I get a Windows message saying iTunes has stopped responding and closes iTunes. If I have task manager open while I try to update, it's obvious there's a memory leak. Memory usage gradually climbs up to about 3GB and then Windows intervenes. I've tried deleting SyncServices and even tried renaming the "Apple Computer" folder. The folder gets recreated but I still can't update podcasts. Ideas?

  • Blacberry new app can't update info

Blacberry news app can't  update info
    黑莓News 应用不能更新 已经一个月了 我日,这么好用 为什么关闭呢

Thank you! I did change my Apple ID in february. But as I recall it I downloaded the app later than that, and in the Info in iTunes (on the Mac) it mentions my new Apple ID. I also bought it in Spain, and now I'm in Denmark. But none of the other apps I bought at the same time have had those problems. And do you have any solution to solve the problem? I tried to login with my old Apple ID, but for some reason the password won't work. It even told me that my birthday is wrong when I tried to renew the password? I'm not sure if I can enter that account again

  • Does anyone else think it is stupid that the 2nd gen of iPod touch can't update to even 4.3?  Cuz none of the apps work anymore and i don't have $300 to throw down for a new one.

Yeah, I have been getting tons of updates for my apps, but since my iPod touch can only go to software 4.2.1 all of my apps have slowed down and crash, freeze, and don't get all the new things available on the other software versions.  It is incredibly frustrating and kind of stupid to phase out the owners who have the older models that work just fine.

The 2G was introduced 4 1/2 years ago. That is old in electronics standards. It does not have the hardware to support a higher iOS.

  • Ipod Touch can't update apps or download new apps

I can download new apps using my computer, but not on my ipod touch.  I can't download new apps on it, or update existing apps.  No error message at all.  When I try to update apps, I select 'update all', it "thinks" for a couple of seconds, then stops.  When I try to download a new app, the screen says 'waiting', then the app's icon briefly flashes on the screen and it's gone.  Any ideas?
Tried creating a new Apple ID but that didn't fix the problem at all, still can't download new apps with it, and I don't think I could update existing apps with a new Apple ID anyway.

You are right in that apps are tied to the account that originally purchased the app so you have to sign into that account to update the app.
    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defalts/new iPod (last resort).

  • 20gb iPod dock won't update podcasts, playlists with iTunes 7.02

My 20gb ipod with dock won't sync properly with iTunes 7. Not all of the podcasts will transfer from itunes to my ipod and my playlist with podcasts can't be updated. Any ideas what might be happening? It only started when I updated to iTunes 7.02
imac 2 GHz Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I think the problem is more of a corrupted library data file than the actual program. Ok, so the update/grade to 7.0.X problaby caused the corruption, but after starting over with a new iTunes Library (data, not XML) file, everything seems to be working fine with 7.0.2. My whole story is below:
Ok after my early elation of having my ipods up and running (and not useless pieces of expensive junk), I ran into more problems when trying to sync. It seemed like the ipod was locking up and when I tried to eject, then iTunes would lock up. I tried with my current 7.0.2 version. I rolled back to 6.0.5. I could add some music without any problems, except that I lost all my playlists since I had to start with a fresh library. So I tried to use my most recent library file (obviously that didn't work since it was in a newer version format). So I went back to my last 6.0 library (in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder). That's when all the frustration started. My iPod kept locking up (meaning an erase (sometimes with zeroing out data - a 2 hour process!), restore, update, and crossing of fingers). I tried this process with several different iTunes libraries under 6.0.5 and the result was always the same: a lot of cussing on my part. So I figured, what the heck lets try going back to 7.0.2, it can't get any worse than it is right now, I mean broken is broken, regardless of the iTunes version. I tried the sync manually, no playlists, fresh version of iTunes library, fresh iPod (erased & restored). Those songs transferred ok and speedily. So I tried more songs and then the entire library (still no playlists). That worked well. So then I tried adding a playlist. It worked too. More playlists, still working. The only thing that I haven't done is: updating podcasts, and I stopped the "download artwork" process (kind of pointless on a monochrome iPod).
Hope my story helps. Other than the extremely irritating loss of time (and the new, colorful vocab my 2 year old has), the loss of my playlists isn't too major: they needed a reorg anyway. But for serious iPoders (DJ's, Nike+ users, etc.) this loss could be a very big deal.
Apple should have tested more thoroughly. Their haste to counteract the fair share hack, has caused more problems with the majority of legal users, than it solved with the minority of hackers.

  • Tell me they are rolling back music.app on iPad to iPod.app in next update? This is unusable.

Does anyone know anything regarding fixing or rolling back music.app to ipod.app?

No column view, have to suffer the album art everywhere, harder to switch back and forth and find what I want. What else, lost my lyrics and meta info, podcasts can't be fast forwarded x2, cant view chapters easily in podcasts, can't easily shuffle an album, harder to set repeat, shuffle, etc on the playing song without going to another screen, genres are now a button click further away, overlays suck, performance is slower, etc, etc. haven't gained anything really, but definitely lack of column list view navigation is HUGE. How did this pass UX useability testing is beyond me. Not only is this not an improvement, it's a huge step back.

  • Can't update podcasts...Help

When I listen to podcasts on my ipod, then update the ipod on my computer, the podcast episode doesn't get deleted like I have it set to do. It is still on my play list, just not as a new podcast. I have looked at the preferences and it still says to only keep new podcasts...why are they still there?
My ipod only started doing this a month ago, before that when I would update to the computer the episode I had listened to would be deleted.
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Ipod Mini

Try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • App Can't Update/Stuck on Waiting

Hello everyone. Out of the blue, My iPad Mini Retina's apps would not update. I've tried resetting network settings to no avail, and even after updating to ios 8.1 today it still is having issues. No matter what, apps are stuck in the "waiting" mode. Anyone else having this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?

Thank you. So while this did fix the issue for the time being, i'd still like to be able to update apps without connecting to the computer. I can install and download updates through itunes, but still cannot without a computer.

  • Songs on Ipod deleted/ Can't Update Software

This is the second time I've had this problem, and I haven't even had the IPod for a year. I have been very dissapointed. I've been seraching the forums and have not seen any topics directly relating to my troubles. So here's my problem....
Every now and then, my IPod will freeze while listening to a song. After a few seconds, it will skip to the next song and start playing it with no problem. Well, the other day, my Ipod froze again. Instead of skipping to the next song and playing it, it start skipping through my whole library. I tried turning off and on my IPod. It did nothing. Every time I press play, it just skips through all of the songs in my library or playlist. I connected it to my computer, and surprise, it wasn't recognized by ITunes. I unplugged it from my comp, and then I noticed that all of my songs/ playlists/ podcasts had been deleted. My IPod had self-reformated. This had happened before, and I just updated the software and reloaded all of my songs. From then, it worked fine. This time I tried running the update software and got a "service error." There seems to be nothing I can do restore my Ipod, update the software, and input my songs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same thing happen with my iPod a couple of years ago. I my case it was the remote that was causing the problem.

  • Dual users = iPad & iTunes confusion, now can't update podcasts

    Hello Apple Community:
I bought a first-gen iPad, and my wife connected it into her Macbook while she was signed in to her iTunes account, in order to give me some her iPhone apps.  As a result, the iTunes on the iPad initially logged in with her user info.
Since then, I have subsequently connected my iPad to her Macbook, but sometimes while I was logged into my iTunes account on the iPad, and sometimes while she was logged into her iTunes account on the the iPad.
For lack of a better phrase, I feel like this has resulted in some Macbook iTunes confusion, and she is now constantly seeing pop-ups asking her to authorize her iTunes account on her Macbook, when she already has, and now she cannot update her podcasts.  (I'm sure there are some other issues we are not seeing as well.)
Is there anyway to remove all traces of my usage from her Macbook iTunes account, so that there is no overlap between users?
    Thanks!

You could try starting totally anew...
Before wiping your iTunes account off, restore your iPad as a new device. That will take everything off your iPad (Should do the same with iTunes)
So no account, no device. Then you can go about re-doing you're own library for your device.
However I've not had a chance to test this myself, so can't comment on it's success. An Apple expert should be able to help if you're in need of better advice than mine

  • What iPod apps can you get for iPod 2G?

I bought the new 5G recently and giving my little sister my 2G. She's only 11. I don't like giving her hand-me-downs or whatever you want to call it but the internet is still good, it can get some apps, music is there, and I am capable of putting videos on her ipod. Besides, when I was 11, all I got was paper and pencil and markers and had the best time of my life. That wasn't too long ago. Like 5 and half years so she can deal for now. I rather see her drawing and playing at the playground than her having the newest iPod or iPhone. :/ Kids should be kids. A little bit of gaming is fine. (I know I'm ranting)
I should have bought the 4G at that time as my iPod 2G is a little over 2 years old but oh well. I didn't know anything about iPods nor the difference between them except cameras and I had fun with it in those 2 years so I won't regret it. Besides, I was able to get the iPod 5G instead of having to hold onto the 4G So I guess that's a little bonus for me.
I wanted to find apps for her to make it fun. I rather you suggest free apps for IOS 4.2.1. but if it's 99 cents, I'll look at it. I have a little bit of money and am already buying her the Sims Medieval game for her as she has been obsessing over it last year but I never bought it for my iPod. So I'm doing that now. It still supports iPod 2G which is awesome. All apps should have an alternative for older generations less than 10 years old in my opinion. It would be nice. The older generations just can't get the updates that require better hardware.
Anyway, can you guys help me, please?

  • My Tom Tom app can't update as it tells me I haven't enough space for it, how can I make space for the update?

I didn't think that I have that much on my iPad , but I can't seem to understand how to make room for this update.  If I delete the app and try to reload it will I have lost this app and data and have to re buy it

    Hello there Frenchyfile,
I would suggest freeing up some space on your iPhone either from the Music app, or podcasts with this:
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
From: iPhone User Guide page 61
              http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
The same steps to delete a podcast apply for the podcasts app.
You can also free space by deleting other Apps on the iPhone
    Remove app
If you are having issues with a particular app, try removing the app from your iPhone.
To avoid losing any app data, first back up your information.
Touch and hold any app icon on the Home screen until the icons start to jiggle.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to remove. You may be prompted to rate the app.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your iPhone.
Click the Home button to cancel or stop deleting apps.
Proceed to the next step to reinstall your app.
From: Using apps on your iPhone
              http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/application/#section_5
Also you can delete photos or videos from your Photos app.
View your Camera Roll album: Swipe to the right, or tap the thumbnail image. You can also view your Camera Roll album in the Photos app.
    ...
    • Delete a photo or video: Tap
From: iPhone Users Guide page 75
              http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Also keep in mind, if you bought this app from the App store, you can download it free of charge again if it needs to be re installed.
