IPod app music output quiet, becomes louder after seeking a track.

When I play a song it will be quiet, turning up the volume and it still isn't as loud as it should be. However, when I go and seek the track it suddenly becomes louder, but when I go to the next track the music has "gone quiet" again unless I seek again.
What could be causing this?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • I created Playlists on iPod App for my iPad 2. After a recent sync my Playlists I created and saved were gone! Why? What do I need to do to Save those Playlist so theynare not lost nduring sync. THANK YOU

    I created Playlist on my iPad (iPod App).....but they disappeared after sync process with my laptop. Why?
    What should I have done so they don' t go way?
    Doesn't make sense to redo them every time.

    Is there a "New" button at the top right of the Playlists section of Music?
    There is no Edit button to delete music, swipe sideways on the song to reveal the delete button. Tap and hold on the artwork in Artists and albums to reveal the (X) button to delete. Or connect the iPad back up to iTunes on the computer and check your sync settings for music to ensure you are syncing the right content.

    I sold my ipod (which has always been backed up to itunes/computer) and am waiting for a new Ipad.
    Do I have to manually download all my apps on the ipad, or will itunes allow me to sync my old ipod apps and music to the ipad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can sync your music and apps from iTunes. However since you are moving from an iPod to an iPad, many of the apps will have iPad versions which you will need to redownload.

  • I am getting crazy. Output field become gray after invalidate();

    Before post, i have carefully read SAP docs, including the course JA310, but still don't find the solution.
    My problem is that when i called a RFC, and execute output.invalidate(), the output field becomes gray.
    (There won't be any authorization issues, i use the rfc_user for sap backend system, it has sap_new and sap_all authorization).
    I will make the case most simple.
    BAPI backed:
    - IMPORT: orgin type num2, EXPORT result type num2.
    - the function of BAPI is simple : result = orgin + 1.
    In the NWDS.
    - I have already tested the input bind, it works fine. (with an other FM has IMPORT data only)
    - but when I try to bind the output data, the display field is gray and empty. (I have check the binding between model and controller, controller and view, all is fine)
    Here is the 'logic flow'
    Part I: wdDoInit()
      public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
    // out put field is now gray
         Ztestbapi_Output outbapi = new Ztestbapi_Output();
         outbapi.setResult("05");
         wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().bind(outbapi);
    // output field is now availble
    Pari II: Button Action
      public void Execute1( )
        //@@begin Execute1()
         try {
    //         wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().invalidate();
    // out putfield is now gray again
              wdContext.currentZtestbapi_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
    // out putfield is now gray again
              wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().invalidate();
              Ztestbapi_Output outbapi = new Ztestbapi_Output();
              outbapi.setResult("07");
              wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().bind(outbapi);
    // output field is now availble
              wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().invalidate();
    // out putfield is now gray again
         } catch (WDDynamicRFCExecuteException e) {
              // TODO Auto-generated catch block
              e.printStackTrace();
    Thank u very much in advance!

    My recent research is :
    when i change my execute() function like:
         Ztestbapi_Input inbapi = new Ztestbapi_Input();
         inbapi.setOrgin("02");
         wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Input().bind(inbapi);
         try {
                         // here is the key change
                         wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().bind(inbapi.getOutput());
                         // End of key change.
              wdContext.currentZtestbapi_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
              wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().bind(inbapi.getOutput());
              wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().invalidate();
              if (wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Output().isEmpty()){
                   inbapi.setOrgin("07");
                   wdContext.nodeZtestbapi_Input().bind(inbapi);
         } catch (WDDynamicRFCExecuteException e) {
              // TODO Auto-generated catch block
              e.printStackTrace();
    The output and the input should be binded automatically, shouldn't them?
    Always confused.

  • After updating my 4S to 5.0.1 my iPod app no longer plays my music

    Strangest thing, after updating my 4S to 5.0.1, when I turn on my iPod app, and hit play on any of my songs, it shows the play button at the top like it's playing, but no sound at all, I checked volume to ensure it wasn't muted, but thats not the issue.  I also updated my iPad 2 to 5.0.1, but the iPod app works fine on that.  Any ideas ? Has anyone else had this problem?

    Are the songs that you are trying to play grayed out in your playlists?
    I had this problem after upgrading to iOS 5, and I found that deleting all the songs from my device and re-syncing them fixed the problem.
    To do this:
    1. Attach your iOS device (either using the cable or to the same wi-fi network if using iTunes Wi-Fi Sync).
    2. Open iTunes, and click on your iOS device.
    3. Click on the Music tab.
    4. Uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox at the top.
    5. When asked, click "Don't Sync Music".
    6. Sync the iOS device. Your songs will be removed from the device.
    7. Check the "Sync Music" checkbox at the top once again.
    8. Sync the iOS device again, and your songs will be re-added.
    I don't know why the upgrade made some songs unreadable, but the resync fixed the problem for me (I had to do this for each of my iOS devices after upgrading them all to iOS 5). Fortunately, I only had 1,000 songs, so the resync didn't take forever.
    Hope this helps!

  • After syncing my ipad 2 to itunes, i have no music in ipod app

    initial syncing of ipad 2 transferred all my music to the ipod app.  After syncing today, there is no music content in the ipod app.  I have tried several times to sync, but no music appears in the ipod app.  How do I fix this?

    In followup.  I tried syncing several times, still no music. I then changed the usb connection to the back of the computer, closed firewall and antivirus software. Sync went rapidly and now my music is back on the IPod app. One of the three (or all three) changes stopped the interference with the syncing. Will see what happens next time.

  • Why does my Ipod touch Music/Video apps crash after update to OS4

    Updated Ipod touch (64GB) yesterday to OS4. Today I cant run the Music or the Video apps. They will LOAD, but after 3 seconds, the crash. Any ideas?
    Ive tried to do the reboot thing (DFU??) that I saw in another post but same issue.
    Tried a search several times but have not seen any posts so far with this particular issue.

    I'm having the same issue as well, I'm currently at work so as of right now I can't try to restore mine, but the strange thing with mine is that I updated mine the day the iOS 4.0 came out and had no problems until last night. Now the music and video sections keep crashing after just a few seconds. Also all my Podcast are gone, the only things missing and I even re-downloaded them last night and they're still gone.

    After i Updated itunes al my ipod apps including safari and music, photos and all of them went away and i cannot do anything on it anymore please help?

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Can you find the apps using the Spotlight search on the iPod? Maybe you just can't find them
    - If you can find them you can reset the screen layout by go to Settings>Genera.Reset>?Reset Screen Layout.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • IPod app on iPhone 4 won't sort alphabetically after music transfer.

    I have recently downloaded a software on my computer to remove music from my iphone. I currently don't have itunes (laptop got a virus!) and needed to remove some music from my phone. The software worked great, however when I went to check my phone to see if the music was really deleted, I noticed that the artists are no longer listed in alphabetical order. Well, I take that back. They are, if you scroll down to the middle of the C section, they start in alphabetical order. Not sure how this has happened, why it has happend or how to fix it!
    The software I used to transfer the music is:
    CopyTrans - downloaded from cnet. this one worked-ish but didnt delete the files off the phone, so i used another software after that called:
    4Media - Ipod to PC transfer. - worked beautifully!
    Below are screen shots of what my ipod app looks like (please don't hate on the music taste haha)
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! I need my music!

    Did you restart your phone?

  • IPod Apps no longer work, Music disappears, Fix?

    QUESTION : How to fix permanently the “iPod Touch Breakdown“?
    (seems identical to the iPhone “Breakdown“)
    Since I upgraded to 2.0.2, running iTunes 7.7.1 (11) on a MacBook Pro G4, I keep having big trouble with Apps, Music and Films.
    Here is what I call the “iPod Touch Breakdown“:
    - Apps won’t start : the iPod would go back to the home screen after a few seconds.
    - Music and Films disappear (My music consists essentially of personnal CDs).
    - (for me Photos are still there)
    - all original Apple Apps work OK
    This is a known problem, also occuring on the iPhone with many posts on the iPhone discussions forum (see “iPhone“/“Installing and Using iPhone Applications“/“iPhone Applications no longer work“. At the time I write this messge, this question has been viewed 16,080 times ( ) (*) and there have been 319 replies: probably a sad record for a single question, which means that THERE REALLY IS A BASIC PROBLEM.
    My iPod is a 8Gb purchased while staying in Pasadena, almost a year ago. I was extremely happy to use it more and more like a PDA (updates 2.0.1 and 2.0.2).
    There have been some fixes proposed on the discussions forum (iPhone) that I tried and I have tried myself a couple more. NONE of them could fix the problem permanently: all fixes have been working for a day or two, no more. Untill you download an App (even an update) and you get the “Breakdown“ again.
    As other users, I have noted a slowdown in anything I am doing (e.g. typing text) just before the Apps stop working and the music disappears. (see for instance Truth42 on iPhone Forum (Applications no longer work), Posted: Aug 25, 2008 10:57 AM)
    Fixes: typically you get to disinstall and then reinstall all your Apps. Each time, you lose all your Apps parameters (bad for data bases and notes).
    Two ways:
    see iPhone forum: Aveonz Posted: Aug 24, 2008 3:16 AM :
    1- sync using iTunes
    2- in iTunes/Store: deauthorize your account
    3- sync
    4- authorize
    5- sync (will re-load your Apps)
    6- sync (to backup you new configuation)
    (the whole process may take several hours; I have also done a reboot between 3 and 4)
    (ii) proposed by various people :
    1- deselect all applications
    2- sync
    3- disconnect your iPod and reboot it (pressing both buttons simultaneously for several seconds – see Apple site) (you keep you parameters, WiFi, etc)
    4- select the Apps you want back
    5- sync (will re-load your Apps)
    6- sync (to backup you new configuation)
    In the end you can use the Apps you have reloaded, but just for a few days (or hours)… until you cannot resist downloading a new App, or simply just download an App update. It won’t breakdown instantly after you do that, but it will very soon.
    I certainly would take any procedure to fix this definitely. However, the best choice is probably to use as few third party Apps as possible (none is better) and wait for 2.1. Hopefully Apple is working on this, and we’ll get a definite fix very soon. This actually makes a very bad press for the iPod Touch and iPhone.
    Sadly,
    because I think iPod Touch and iPhone are beautiful machines –but for how long? Competition is tough…
    Cheers
    (*) about this number 16,080, obviously not all of the viewers experienced the “Breakdown“, but most were just curious to know. Still, the good question is to know how many of us, using the iPhone and iPod Touch experience this bug (virus?) and why some have it and not others (and in which proportion?).

    Same issue here since updating to 2.0.2; Is there a way to back I wonder?
    So I plugged back in my iPod touch and,...
    0. make a note of all your music, movies, photos, apps selections to restore
    1. cancel connect attempt to iTunes store (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
    2. cancel attempts to sync or backup (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
    3. clicked <OPTION>[Restore] once selecting my iPod touch device
    4. navigate to <home>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Udpates/
    5. pick the prior update: iPod1,12.0.1_5B108Restore
    6. then waited through iPod window status displays
    'Preparing iPod software for restore...'
    'Restoring iPod software...'
    'Verifying iPod Software...'
    7. OK the 'Your iPod has been restored to factory settings,...'
    8. Ssync process did NOT automatically being so I unplugged & plugged it
    (I did verify that 2.0.1 was loaded seeing the App Store)
    9. Pick 'Set up as a new iPod'; don't pick an earlier backup point
    (mostly 'cause I couldn't be sure which was a good failsafe).
    10. iTunes then begin setup of my [ahem] new iPod.
    STOP IT; it'll try and do restore everything. Then navigate the tabs for
    your iPod and re-select those things you want (music,photos,movies,apps,etc)
    So like any computer you need to keep proper backups.
    The apple s/w system updater appears to do just that automatically, thanks! Of course it would've been nice to have had the 2.0.2 version tested a bit more before its release.
    IMHO the host (mac) should have kept my prefs for the iPod rather than my resorting to handwritten notes but at least I'm back to normal. Consider when replacing an iPod how you'd want the replacement to be a mirror of its predecessor.
    Oh, skip future requests to update to 2.0.2 until Apple can get his sorted out.
    HTH

  • IPod App quits unexpectedly after upgrade to OS4...?

    Does anyone know what to do about this:
    iPod App starts up and stays on screen for 2-3 seconds and then just quits. Also my podcasts from previously are no longer there - that's ok with me but may not be a good sign...?
    Thanks for any advise!

    Lack of responses tell me no solution in all those bright minds out there... yet. Another question: Am I the only one suffering this. If so, then I will try to fiddle or rest the whole thing... Any ideas before I try anything too drastic?.... and please let me know if any of you are having the same issue. THANKS!
    P.S. By the way the recent updates to iTunes/iPod with IOS4 and Snowleapard/itunes have taken iTunes a quantum leap forward for those looking to use it for Classical music. And using the remote star rating system after upgrading to iOS4 is nothing short of fantastic (however trivial the change may seem).

  • Playing music videos messes up ipod app

    After I play a music video in the ipod app, there's a glitch in the layout. Whenever I reopen the ipod app, the whole screen shifts up or down. Eventually, it freezes and I have to restart my iphone. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Are you running the latest version of iOS?
    Does it happen with every video or just certain music videos? Does it happen with movies or tv shows?
    Did the music video come from the iTunes store or from another source?

  • IPad iPod app says there is no music... OS 4.3.3.

    Have the original iPad--  iPod app says there is no music, but there are 918 songs sync'd and loaded. Have updated to OS4.3.3. Any advice/troubleshooting tips?

    It's happened to me a couple of times, and I've 'fixed' it be removing any song via iTunes and then copying it back onto the iPad. An alternative (though I didn't try it when it happened to me) is have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IOS5: iPod app to Music app

    I upgraded one of my iPads to IOS5 and think there are many excellent changes so far. I'm still exploring, but the first problem I've encountered is the Music app. It seesm extremely limited in functionaltiy compared wtih the previous iPod app (which I loved). Is there someway we could download the old iPod app from the App Store as an option? BTW, I like the look and feel of the new one, but it really has gone backward in function.

    Music app on iPad iOS circa 5.0.1 is a big step back for functionality, and introduces many annoying bugs. I frequently struggle with smart playlists that have become dumb, playlists that don't match the playlist as displayed in iTunes, wondering what the ambiguous shuffle icon means (selected or not selected?), touch gestures getting trashed as the app thinks about it, and quitting the app process just to get out of a buggy state where nothing is displayed. I too was wondering the same thing: if I could just re-install the iPod app (as much as I disliked the name of that app).
    Yes, I have sent a lot of feedback to Apple on each of these Music related issues.
    I don't understand why there aren't more posts on this topic. Maybe non-iCloud users with iPads set to manually manage music aren't in favor.

  • Music purchased on iTunes downloaded to iPad but not seen in iPod App

    Bought a bunch of music files last night at the iTunes store. Downloads looked fine, with progress bars moving nicely for each file; all files downloaded in a reasonable amount of time. I was doing some other stuff on the iPad during part of the download session, but each time I checked the iTunes downloads, they were still moving along. My credit card was charged, and my iTunes account shows that the files were purchased and are no longer available for download. After the downloads were complete, I hit the "Purchased" button to listen, and none of the files are there, just the old stuff that came over onto the iPad during a previous sync. Tried relaunching the iPod app and rebooting the iPad. Had recently updated to v4.2 of the OS.

    I have not read this but with a very quick search in the search area in the upper right corner of the Apple web site next to support, I found this when I typed - "purchased music does not appear in iPod on my iPad
