IPod app updating issue

I have been having a problem with updating my apps for the past week or so now. What happens is that when I try to update an app it will say " sorry the app could not be updated at this time." Also it won't let me use the current version I have and nearly all of my apps are like this making my ipod almost useless. Safari and any other utilities are about the only things I can use besides a few games. If you have any idea what's wrong please help, I have already consulted apple support but their methods of fixing the problem have been unsuccessful.

Try downloading/updating on your computer and syncing

  • Has anyone had app update issues with iOS 8.1?

I'm running iOS 8.1 on a iPhone 6+.  If I try to update an app from the app store without being logged in, it will hang the process and the update will fail.
Previously, with my iPhone 4 and iOS 7.1.2 the app store would ask me to log in when an app update was attempted without being logged in.
The work around until apple fixes this bug is to ensure you are logged in BEFORE attempting an app update.  An honest techie at the local apple store admitted this is a bug (one of many) in iOS 8.1.  Has anyone else had this issue with iOS 8.1

Nope, I'm able to update an app in iOS 8.1, even if I'm not first logged into the iTunes & App Store in Settings.  It prompts me to update the app, then I sign in with my password.
Do you have Touch ID enabled for App Store or not?

  • Apps update issue - iTunes Store sign-in/Apple ID

Thanks in advance for your help.  My iPhone 5s is set to automatically update my apps.  This has been working fine.  Today, however there is a problem.  Today the App Store app is prompting me to manually update the apps, and the ID it is asking me for the password for is not mine - it's my wife's.
This is very strange, and I asked myself if I've made any changes to either mine or my wife's iphone settings recently.  I've only made one change, 2 days ago.  The change I made was on my wife's iphone 5s.  She was getting a message about not enough storage on her iCloud to complete a backup.  When I took a look, I saw that there were 2 devices on the account, her new phone ("this iPhone") and the previous phone we wiped and gave away.  So I deleted the old device since it was sucking up all her storage.
At first I didn't see how there could be a connection with my issue, but I've noted one thing which may not be coincidental.  In looking at my app update history, I can see that the last day any apps were auto updated was the same day and prior to I made the change to my wife's phone. Must be a connection?
Can someone help with a diagnosis, recommended next steps, etc?

When an app that is updating is asking for an alternate password or Apple id login, that is due to the fact that the login the app is asking for IS THE Login that was used when the app was first purchased/downloaded.
What one must do in this situation is to logout of your device with your current apple id login and then to log back in with the alternate apple id login . Once login in with the requested apple id you then will be able to update the cantankerous app.
    Good luck!

  • IPad Web App updating issue

My iPad is showing 2 web app updates in the queue.  However, when I click on 'Updates' in the App Store, no updates are showing.  Any ideas how I can both get the updates to show and then to download the updates?

There are countless posts about this.  There's a problem at Apple's end and has been so for several days.
However, I have no trouble updating using itunes on my computer and later syncing to my device.

  • Apps update issue

Hi, i have some apps update to do but now, when I want to see the list, nothing appears on App Store update list, I have a blank page. What is the problem?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Ipod Touch Gen 2 App Update Issue :(

    Hi,
I have an iPod Touch gen 2, recently it has stopped updating my apps. When I click on "update," it will ask me for my password, the it'll say "waiting" with the little bar, then the icon will return to normal, but no update has taken place and the App Store icon will show the original number of updates. I have turned the wifi on and off and rebooted many times.
If I do a restore from iTunes, do I lose all game progresses?
    Help please.

Can you update the apps pn your computer?
Your game progresses are part of the backup data. In order to save them before you restore, back up manually by right clicking on your device in the device list and choosing "backup". A backup without a sync process will be performed. See what else is part of the backup here: iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
Saving data and restoreing "as new ipod" is also described here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • IPod Touch update issue

Downloaded update for iPod Touch 3rd Gen, iPod froze up.  Does not respond to turning off, frozen with applie image on screen....  iTunes does not recognize connection.  Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

    Hello
I have an itouch 1st gen and went to try and update the software to the latest 3.0 update. I purchased the software and then itunes tried to update my itouch with the latest software.
By doing so this has caused my itouch to freeze and go into recovery mode which I havent been able to get out of after trying all that article ts1275 asked me to do. i.e reinstall itunes / try different pc / try different usb port / try to reboot itouch etc etc
I resorted to contacting tech support which was of no help as I already tried all that I could to get my itouch out of recovery mode. The other problem is that as I brought my itouch way back in 2007 my warranty is out of date and that means basically there not willing to do much to help. I explained that it was the software update that caused my itouch to crash and prior to the update it was working fine. There reply is that the software would not put my itouch in recovery mode and that it must be a hardware problem.
End result after spending 1hr 30mins on the phone is that I have booked in with tech support at an apple store and if found to be a hardware issue then I would have to pay £116 for an out of warranty replacement.
I think this is a joke and its to easy to put the blame on hardware issue when the device was working fine prior to software update.
Ps I would be happy to hear if anyone else has had the same problem so we can build a case against Apple for causing the problem

  • 2 iTunes Accts. App Updating issues

I have 2 different iTunes Accounts associated with my iPod Touch, both with apps installed. Whenever I try to update any of my apps (even if they were not purchased with the first account) the password prompt for the first account pops up, with the prompt for the second one never showing. I end up having to delete my apps, and reinstalling them where the password prompt does show up. When I do that all my data disappears and it gets really annoying.
By the way, updating with iTunes isn't a solution. Since I run Linux which Apple COMPLETELY IGNORES, there is no iTunes for me.

    anyone?

  • App Updating Issue

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where the apps won't update? When I go to update my apps, the process bar will briefly appear, then disappear, and the app will cease updating. If anyone has fixed this issue, please let me know, as I have tried rebooting and closing out of it then reopening.

I realised that this happens to all my devices, iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Can download new apps but can't update nor re-download nor update apps that has been downloaded before by the same account.

  • Ipod failed updating issue

I recently have been having issues with my ipod touch so I tried to restore the ipod now however it turns out the download was bad and the cable somehow got unpluged and now the ipod only shows the apple logo in the center of the screen and a progress bar below it. I have tried to turn it on and off but it still shows the screen and doesnt turn off any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is related and I know its quite common, but the other day Itunes asked me to update my ipod software. I accepted and once my ipod turned to the itune logo and the usb screen, it froze. Looking back at the itunes page, an error popped up -9812 which was a connection error I believe.
I have spent two days trying ways to restore my ipod from reinstalling itunes, updating itunes, turning off my fire wall, plugging and unpluging, holding down home and standby/power off key to reset it. I don't know what other tricks to use. It has worked fine before a few days ago, but now my ipod is frozen on that itunes/ usb cable screen and I have no idea how to fix it. Can anyone help?

  • App update issue

Hi, I just updated to the new app box pro app on my Iphone 5.  Problem: I did not back up my phone prior on my computer.  Problem 2: The new app is terrible and does not have some of my data.  Question 1: How can I go back to previous version of this app on this phone?  Help please.  I was always good about reading the reviews before hand but this time I hit download and all the reviews I read after were terrible.  I know now they were right.  Not much support from the app developers either.  I fear I have lost valuable data plus the interface is terrible.  The app is App Box Pro.
Thanks for any help. It will be greatly appreciated

For 3rd parties apps, only the developer of the apps can help.
Unless you have a backup, there is nothing we can do.

  • IPod/iTunes updateing issues

    I have an iPod mini, and windows xp, my problem is thus;
I had another computer, on it, I kept my iTunes library. Said computer died. Horribly.
Now I have a new computer, I have put new songs on it. The songs on my new computer are not the same ones on my iPod, and the songs on my iPod are not on my new computer. Is there any way of putting the songs on my new computer onto my iPod without eraseing the songs already there?

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and a different iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
If you want to copy the songs on your iPod to the new computer there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are quite cheap these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • IPad 4 App Updates Issue

My IPad 4 home screen is showing that I have 5 updates in the App Store, but when I tap the App Store icon and the page finishes loading it shows that there are 0 updates to download. When I exit the App Store it still shows that I have 5 updates. Anyone have any ideas on what may cause this and how I can fix it? I performed a factory reset on the device, but this did not fix it. Any and all help is appreciated!
