Ipod appears corrupted after closing Itunes while playing

I was just finishing loading several new albums onto my ipod and it was playing a song from the ipod. I accidentally closed Itunes. Now my ipod doesn't appear to have anything on it. When I first went back into Itunes and tried to get it to recognize the ipod, it would not recognize it there or in explorer. I tried resetting and now I can see it in Itunes and explorer, but it doesn't show any songs (in explorer, I see folders but I don't see songs files, but I never looked there before so I don't know what to expect). I see at the bottom of Itunes that it had about the right amount of used/unused space, but then when I clicked around, and went back to the ipod folder, it changes every time to show a slightly smaller amount of used space. Please tell me that closing Itunes while playing a song can't totally corrupt the ipod. Or that I don't have to re-rip my 500 cds and reload it. I don't have them all on any computer to just recopy to the ipod.
Also, when I try to 'stop' the ipod for disconnecting, it now says that it cannot be stopped now, try again later. I'm worried that if I unplug it now that it will damage it further.

OK, let me make sure i have this correct. you closed your itunes while a song was playing on your ipod on computer? also, When you reopened itunes, the pod was recognized, correct? What did you click around on, because that could change your space. What is the Ipod doing that you need to stop? I suggest don't unplug, becuase your correct, you have a chance that it could damage further. sory for so many q's but i just need to get the story straight to help ya. theo

My ipod jumps, skips and slows down while playing songs. It is very annoying. Is it fixable??????

I have the same problem. Often, the songs worked perfectly fine before, even the previous day! Changing the format does not help either, nor does restoring iPod settings. In another case, a song WILL work after settings are restored, but after a few plays will return to its old state of making the ipod reset.

    Should be OK now.

  • Using Itunes while playing RPG or runescape

recently I have started having some annoying interference with Itunes while playing Runescape. I always have liked to listen to Itunes while playing the online role playing game but recently I have had static that results when I move around on the game to another area that requires loading of data as is typical of any RPG. This never occurred until now. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't use anti virus since I have a mac, but the web browser is running since it is part of the online game, but I have always ran it that way, it seems the problem started around the time I upgraded to iLife 08

Buenas, otra vez.
Hello again. I ended up installing AE CC to fix my problem. although that was not what I was looking for but at the end all that matter is to enjoy the software. The only unsolving issue is that I won't be able to enjoy the option of working graphics in GPU mode due to my graphic card. It needs CUDA and intel doesn't support it. I'll keep on looking for answers to my trouble with AE CS6 in the web.

  • Why does my IPod shuffle stop after a few hours playing on shuffle when it should go for days?

Why does my IPod stop playing after a few hours on shuffle when it should play for days?

A few possibilities...  (Each numbered item is a separate thing to check or try.)
    (1) What does the shuffle's light do when you connect it to USB?
    (2) If the docking cable plug is not fully inserted, it may not have a good connection for charging.  Make sure the docking cable plug is fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack, as shown in this document
iPod shuffle (4th generation): Not seen in iTunes
    (3) If there are other USB devices connected to your computer at the same time, try disconnecting other devices (including USB hub) so that the shuffle is the only device connected to a direct USB port, to see if that makes a difference (you can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected if used).
    (4) If you have a USB power adapter (such as from an iPhone, iPad, or other device), that plugs into the wall outlet, as a test, connect the shuffle's docking cable to the adapter and connect the shuffle.  Does it change from a power adapter?
    (5) Some newer Windows PCs (if you use Windows and not a Mac) may have a "feature" that shuts off full power to the USB port when a connected storage device is no longer mounted by the system.  An iPod is a storage device, and after syncing, iTunes unmounts the iPod's disk (if you are using automatic syncing).  If Windows shuts off full power to the USB port, the battery cannot charge.  To see if this is the problem, does the iPod appear in iTunes when it is connected, even though the battery is not charging?  If it does, select the iPod in iTunes so that you see its Summary screen.  There is an option (checkbox) there for Enable disk use.  If it's not already checked, check that box and Apply.  Enabling disk use keeps the iPod's disk mounted continuously, so Windows will keep the USB port at full power (and the battery will charge).  If the iPod now charges, there may be a way to disable this "energy saver" feature in Control Panels, so that you can turn OFF Enable disk use.  NOTE:  When Enable disk use is turned ON, you need to Eject the iPod in iTunes before physically disconnecting it.

  • After closing iTunes 6 it's still hogging CPU

I had no problems installing the latest iTunes 6 and Quicktime. It all looked as if it was running OK.
However I noticed that each time I closed iTunes my PC (P4 2.4ghz/1024Mb RAM/XP Home SP2) was running extremely slow.
Using Task Manager, I looked at the CPU usage - YIKES - iTunes.exe was still there hogging between 50 to 99%. I'm having to kill this process manually to sort this.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it, as it's a bit of a pain having to do this each time!!

I've about 1100 albums in my library - I wonder if it's doing some sort of maintenance process after closing - and because of the size of the library it's taking this amount of time?
hmmmm. i believe that itunes updates the itl file on close-down ... but it's a bit of a mystery why it would be making such a meal of it in your case.
starting to check through odd possibilities, now. does that PC have dual cores or processors? if so, perhaps check to see if you've got a variation of this issue (it hits imports as well, so i wouldn't be entirely suprised if it was also hitting some other library-related functions):

  • 30gb video iPod, where is my volume bar while playing music?

I see a white volume bar while playing video podcasts, but not while listening to music. Where is it, how can I get it to show up? Do I need to change the color?

All of the songs had artwork associated with them (on my computer) from the very beginning. When I uploaded them the first time, shouldn't the artwork have gone with them? When you upload album art, is there a way to find it on the iPod, other than playing the songs? In other words, does it reside in a directory that I can view? If there is, I can at least confirm whether the artwork ever made it to the iPod. It just seems weird that it shows up in iTunes but not on my 'pod.
I know that I had the setting orginally set at "automatic" and then at some point I changed it to manual, and then back to automatice, which is how it is set now. But again, I prepared my database of songs on my computer (including artwork) before I ever uploaded them to my virgin iPod, so I thought it would have gone with them from the start.

  • Problem with iTunes while playing a game

I'm having some sound problems while loading a new area in certain games. To be specific, Guild Wars.
When I'm loading a new area, my speakers often get a horrible static-y sound. This sound won't go away for a good half hour. The strange thing is that my Guild Wars sound is still normal. The only thing that has the static sound is the music coming from iTunes. Simply closing iTunes and reopening does not help. I have to wait a while before my sound is fixed.
The only other game I play with iTunes running is Warcraft 3, and I've never had this problem while loading a map.
    Any help is appreciated.

Hmm... well Guild Wars' Memory usage isn't very consistent. I've seen it jump from 150,000+K to 22,000K. Now it is 70,000K, while iTunes is 40,000K.
For the record, my computer isn't top of the line. I have an AMD Athlon 1700+, and 768 RAM. As for my Sound Card... your guess is as good as mine. Hahah sorry. I'm pretty useless.
Oh, and my CPU usage is 100% while playing. :/

  • Downloading Ipod Iibrary from Ipod to computer after reloading itunes

I am synced with another itunes library from an older version of itunes. I do not want to loose these songs that are currently on my ipod. I am told I can not be synced with multiple libraries.
Is there any way too download the library on my pod to my computer and merg with itunes to form a current library?
    Thanks in advance.

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel".
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • IPod Classic ejects after opening iTunes

Macbook Pro 17" 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo
    OSX 10.6.8
    iTunes 10.3.1 (55)
Does not make a difference if connected to powered USB hub or directly to the computer. iPod stays on the dekstop. When I open iTunes, the iPod Classic is Ejected.
I do not have this problem with an iPod 4 Generation color.
    So what's wrong?

The iPod still ejects after I open iTunes

  • Podcasts subscriptions corrupted after installing iTunes 5

I have my podcasts set to update manually and after installing iTunes 5 I noticed that when I try to update them iTunes showed there are no new episodes when clearly (and iTunes podcast directory confirmed it) there were.
Then I noticed "subscribe" button in the podcast directory's page for my podcasts was active and after i re-subscribed to all of my podcats (for example TWIT) iTunes added an identical TWIT podcast entry to my podcasts list and started re-downloading ALL of the podcasts i already had along with the new episodes.
So now i have a choice of either having to re-download all of my podcasts in order to get new ones OR be without new episodes untill this is fixed. And re-downloading all of my podcats is not an option cause of my connection. Also i don't wanna have duplicate entries for my podcasts in order to have the new episodes.
I really hope iTunes 5.1 comes out soon and fixes these bugs. In my opinion, this is the buggiest release of iTunes for Windows Apple ever made.

ME TOO. Now I want to know how I can DOWNgrade iTunes.
Also, when I have left iTunes open for a while, I come back to it, and the window is all indecipherable garbage.
And don't waste your time. I have done it all, and nothing has helped. I either download podcast by painful podcast or I don't get anything at all.
