IPod Artist Playlists ???????????

Hi NONE of my songs are in my artist playlist on my iPod BUT are on the playlists on iTunes. Why is this its driving me CRAZY!!!
On the GET INFO of each song i only have artist and song name not album, year etc... is this the cause.
Thanks.

Hi, to solve this, I filled up the space for Album in iTunes "Get Info" with the artist's name as well.
All my songs now appear on my iPod 5G when I use the "ALL" function (I normally access thru genre, which I painstakingly also filled up!).
BTW, is there a way to disregard/skip this "Album" sub-classification? I didn't have this problem with my iPod mini 2G.
Thanks!!

  • Setting up iPod - Artists/Albums/Songs

I bought my son an iPod for Christmas and we're having troubles organizing the music. We downloaded the entire Black Sabbath CD (14 songs) and a Rolling Stones CD (11 songs). But when I click on "Artist", all the songs are listed - no artist is listed. When I click on "Albums", again all the songs are listed. Shouldn't just the Artists be listed under "Artist" and the names of the albums be listed under "Album".
I know I'm asking such a basic question. but I've spent hours trying to figure this out. Please help.

On itunes you have to give the songs an artist and album name then they will show up on the ipod. Right now the artist and album section having nothing in them so it shows up as no artists and albums. However, the songs should still be on the ipod under playlist.

  • I deleted my "iPod Slection" playlist and now my iPod won't update.

I don't know exactly how it happened but the songs on my original "iPod Selection" playlist got messed up and so iTunes automatically created another "iPod Selection Playlist" and I didn't want the songs it put in that playlist on my iPod so I deleted it. But now my iPod won't update because it says "your iPod cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist." If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Seems like you've got auto sync with your iPod and it is looking for a specifically named playlist.
    Check your preferences.
Create a new playlist and sync that.

  • My iPod touch playlists only show up on iTunes under devices and not on the iTouch itself.  On iTunes, I cannot play my songs from the iTouch on iTunes.  Any ideas?

Suddenly in the last 10 days, my iPod Touch playlists don't show up on the iPod unless plugged into iTunes and only under the device section of iTunes. When I try to play a song on my iPod a different song from the library comes up and plays.  Lastly, when I try to play the songs in the iPod library on iTunes when plugged into the computer, an exclamation mark appears to the left of the song title and will not play.  Any ideas?

Put the device in DFU mode: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

  • How can I get the option to make an iPod selection playlist when there is not enough space on my iPod for my whole iTunes library?

I am trying to sync my iPod with my iTunes library and I recently added more music to my library than there is space on my iPod. Normally, I know iTunes is supposed to give you the option of creating an iPod selection playlist, so you can choose which songs you want to put from your library onto your iPod. However, iTunes won't currently give me that option. It simply gives me an error message saying there is not enough free space to sync my iPod. How can I get it to create the iPod selection playlist?

Start deleting stuff from your iPod to make room.

  • A way to backup only my iPod's playlists?

    Hello!
This may be a stupid question but is there a way to backup only my iPod's playlists? I haven't found such an option and it feels quite stupid to backup my entire music collection.
    I'm using iTunes 7.0.1.8 and a 1st generation iPod nano (4Gb).
      Windows XP Pro

And by playlist I meant music library.
So I'd like to backup only songs that are on my iPod, not all existing music files on my computer.

  • Synching ipod incl playlists despite insufficient memory

My iTunes library holds more songs than my ipod can. That was never a problem on my old computer, when I synched the iPod I simply got a selection of songs and all playlists synched as well. With my new computer this seems to be different though. I get an error message that my iPod does not have enough room and that I can either sync manually or let iTunes create the "iPod selection" playlist for me. That's fine, just that i'm missing my playlists. Is this a new thing, or do I need to un-select 6,000 songs in the library in order to have enough room for a playlist when I sync my iPod automatically?

It has nothing to do with having "enough room" for playlists. The playlist itself does not take any significant space.
On the Music tab in the iPod's pane in iTunes, you are either syncing +All songs and playlists+ or +Selected playlists+. If you let iTunes create a playlist for you with a subset of all your songs, that is just a regular playlist. Since that is now the only playlist selected to sync to on the Music tab, that is the only playlist that will appear on the iPod.
All you need to do is uncheck (in the Music tab) the special playlist iTunes created. You can even delete that playlist from the iTunes sidebar. Then, check all the playlists you want on the iPod (in the Music tab). Now sync it. Unless you have some really extensive playlists, the total number of unique songs on those playlists you created should be well below the capacity of the iPod. If you want to fill up the rest of the space with songs, make one more playlist called "More Songs" (or whatever you want to call it) and put other songs on it that are not on your other playlist, until you have used the remaining space on the iPod.

  • Shuffle Playing iPod Nano Playlist

I was wondering if it was possible to play iPod Nano playlists in a "shuffle" mode. I can successfully play my entire music archive that is on the iPod in "shuffle" mode, but I would like to be able to just play a certain playlist in "shuffle" mode. Thanks for any information on this question.

    Yes it can be done.
Menu, Settings, Shuffle - Off, Songs, Albums
Then go back and select your playlist and start it going.

  • Special syncing with iPod question, playlist

Hi- I have 2 playlists. I only want those 2 playlists to sync with my Nano. How do I get it so only those two playlists update automatically without the "ipod selection" playlist being created and a lot of the music I don't want copied over to my ipod.
    Thanks!

When your iPod is docked & the iPod "summary" tab is displayed in iTunes, the second tab is "music", click on that tab. Under "sync music", the second choice is selected playlists where all of your available playlists will be displayed. At that point, you can choose what playlists you wish to sync to the Nano by checking "selected playlists' & then check the specific playlists you wish to sync.

  • Ipod Classic Playlists

I have different playlits in my Ipod, some for songs, some for TV Shows and others for movies. I have converted some karaoke cds to mp4 so I can have them on the ipod but whe i sort through the songs I see the name of the song and below it shows the Genre. What can I do For It to show me the artist? In Movies it Diisplay The name of the movie and below the duration time and in TV shows the release date. I really want to configure what my ipod displays so Itt can show me what I need including the artwork.

I have already updated the firmware to the newest release. I am using version 1.0.1 which according to iTunes is the latest firmware available for my iPod. I do not think that the problem I am encountering was addressed in that firmware update. I believe that the problem may have something to do with the number of playlists I have on my iPod. I have 68 playlists organized into 3 folders. My iPod contains 18845 songs, and 122 videos. It still has 46.3Gb free on the Hard Drive, but the amount of data present could be causing problems because it does tend to be a bit slow when loading just about anything. I would imagine that apple will address this in future firmware updates, but It can be a bit frustrating to have a brand new iPod that doesn't work as well as I wish it would.

  • Lost music on ipod because "playlists selected for updating no longer exist

Not sure what I've done. I recently downloaded newer version of itunes. Then when synching, I had too much music in my library for the ipod to handle so it told me about doing the smart playlist. I erased a couple of playlists on the itunes menu I no longer wanted and then when I went to synch, this error came up "songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist."
    Please help.....

    Check this out.
