Ipod as a gift

My sister gave my mother an Ipod Nono as a gift (my sister lives in a different state), she put music on the Nano before giving it to my mother, When I try to set up an account for my mother the Ipod comes up as my sisters Ipod. I can make a new account for my mother but how do I keep the songs and rename the Ipod? I don't want to erase/sync- don't want to lose what is on the ipod. Thanks

You can use this software: http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ to transfer the music from the iPod to your mother's iTunes library. Assuming these are not songs purchased from the iTunes Store.
After that Restore the iPod in iTunes, give it the new name, and sync the music.

  • Has anyone returned an iPod for a gift card

Hi everyone. Apple was kind enough to return my 3 week old refurbished iPod video so I could get a new one. Now I am iPodless! I was planning on getting a new iPod right away when I got my Gift Card. Seel, I bought the iPod using a gift card. Now they are saying it will take 2 weeks to get the gift card! This seems a little crazy to me. Has anyone returned an iPod for a gift card who can tell me how long I should expect it to take? Where do they ship the gift card from? I sent my iPod to somewhere in California, and I live in California. I don't see how it could take more than 2 or 3 days. Maybe I am missing something? The return policy says they send the gift card within 2 days of receiving the iPod. I'm sure someone has done this.

    Your post is confusing.

Do you mean they let you return it and get your money back?
Not sure what you mean by a gift card?

  • Ipod as a gift... Can I preload the music?

I want to buy my grandmother an IPOD as a gift. As you can imagine, technology is not really her thing. Eventually, she will learn to load new music, but I would like to preload music on it and give it as a present.
If I load music on it, will there be an issue 'pairing' it to her computer?
    Thanks

    Hi Mr Happy,
I just bought an iPod shuffle myself and found the following article quite useful.
    This is one of the points in the article;
"Unlike other iPods, you can't move your shuffle from one computer to another and add tracks from each. If you plug your shuffle into another computer, iTunes notes that it's an alien iPod and asks if you want to start using it with this machine instead. If you say yes, the songs on the iPod are erased and you have to start building a playlist from scratch (or from Autofill). If you say no, iTunes refuses to have anything to do with the iPod."
Now this article was written when iTunes 4 was the newest iTunes so I don't know if they changed this so that now you can plug it into any computer now and get tunes from any computer with iTunes installed.
    here is the whole article.

  • Can I preload songs on an ipod as a gift?

I want to purchase an ipod as a gift for someone and was wondering if I could preload songs (without physically removing the ipod from its package and connecting it to my comp) because I'm sending it. Does Apple have any provsions like this?

    Hey there,
At this time, no, there is no possible way to add music to an iPod without actually physically hooking it up to a computer. You can make this suggestion to Apple through the link below. Hope this helps.

  • Got loaded Ipod as a gift. Help!

My daughter got a loaded Ipod as a gift. How do I sync it with my itunes without losing all of the information. I don't really want to call the gift giver unless I have to.

The person that gave it to her purchased the music
FOR HER. I really don't even want to add more music
right now, I just want to know if I can charge it
    without losing everything.
If it is the case - please read the following

  • I was given an older ipod as a gift and want to load the songs into my computer, but it says that I can not access the sync feature.  I registered for an Apple ID and when I tried it won't let me register.

When I was given the iPod it had a GREAT load of songs already on it. (That was part of the whole "gift" thing.)  I want to sync it and create playlists in my own library and copy the songs to my computer's library too.  I applied for an Apple ID, and find that this is so old that eventhough it was NEVER registered it is listed under a weird username and won't let me register as the new owner to access the music and sync.  What do I do?  It is an older version (I'm assuming) with 80G and only 25 have been used.  I can't access the music already loaded and don't want to lose the mp3 files I have in my existing library now too.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • Help setting up an ipod for a gift

i'm purchasing either a nano or an ipod for a friend for christmas and sending it to her in another state. i'd like to set up an itunes account for her with her info originating on my pc, set up the ipod on my pc, add files to the ipod's library and then send it. is this possible? any help would be much appreciated.
    nano, or 30g

Go ahead and put the movies on the iPad. However, when the person receiving the gift sets up the iPad in their name, the movies will be erased. So, you could put the movies on a USB flash drive and they could reinstall using the camera connection kit.
How to use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Can you buy a ipod with itunes gift cards

I found some guift cards on ebay and they have like $75 for $50 so i was wondering if i could buy a ipod with gift cards

Careful of those gift cards on ebay. I know a guy that bought a $100 gift card from ebay for $75 and after he entered the code in his iTunes account, he got a note from Apple saying the purchase of the gift card was reported by the credit card company as a fraudulent purchase, so he lost the credit and was out the $75 + shipping he paid the ebay seller.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

  • Purchase ipod with iTunes gift card

is it possible to purchase iPods or accessories with itunes gift cards? Thanks.

No, terms of use for gift cards clearly state that they can only be used for the purchase of content from the store, such as movies, music, games, etc.

  • Pre-loading music on an iPod as a gift

I bought an iPod Nano for my fiancee. She's working in Japan for a few more months before moving out here, so I thought it'd be nice for her commute. She's a bit technology challenged so I wanted to load a good fifty dollars worth of music or video on the iPod before I gave it to her.
What would be the best way to do this?
I thought of just creating an iTunes account on my computer, buying the music and loading it on the iPod. She could authorize her laptop when she got it and change account information then. The problem I'm having is, since she has a Japanese address she most likely can't purchase from the US store, and since I have a US address I can't purchase from the Japan store. She'll want music in her own language, and the US iTunes store has pitiful Japanese song selection. I would buy her an iTunes card, but I can't buy a Japanese iTunes card without having a billing address in Japan.
Any ideas on how to either get her an iTunes card or pre-fill the iPod would be appreciated.

She'll want music in her own language, and the US iTunes store has pitiful Japanese song selection.
    Sorry, I missed this part.
Dunno how you can get her a Japanese iTunes store account.
You cannot even gift her songs from your US iTunes account to a Japanese account.
    Have any Japanese language CDs?

  • Received ipod shuffle as gift formatted for Mac.  I need to reformat for pc

I received an ipod shuffle as a gift. It was already formatted for a Mac. However, I have my own itunes library on my Windows PC. I want to reformat the ipod for the pc, but am having trouble doing that. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do?
    THanks!

The ipod I received was already formatted on a mac
and filled with songs from the gift givers itunes
library. I don't want it that way. I want to
reformat it for the pc and put my songs on it. I
have tried to restore, resynch, etc, but it is not
working, because it is formatted for the mac. All I
want to know is how to format for the pc (and start
over). I saw a post from an earlier discussion that
said that I could choose the device on My Computer
and right click and say format, but right clicking on
the device does not give me format as an option. Any
    ideas?

  • How do I restore iTunes music library from ipod(s) and gift card $s?

    Two Questions:
    1) Had to have my hard drive rebuilt due to a major virus issue with my computer. Had to remove all software. Now when I download my new version of iTunes and try to sync my iPod its looking for the previous software iTunes account and wants to either erase or transfer purchases from my iPOD. I do not want to lose my music library on my iPod. What do I do?
    2) How do I get my gift card $s back that I had in my previous iTunes account? I do not have the original cards anymore...

    1) Have you failed to maintain a backup? You should always maintain a backup.
    2) Sign onto your itunes account. The info is still in your account.

  • Bought new ipod shuffle as gift for windows  pc user

My question is can I load some music on the gift ipod from my mac and then will she be able to also add to that playlist from her pc xp computer?
How does the ipod read the two machines? Or can it be used only with the pc or mac machine?
Would appreciate how to handle this! Thank you!

That is what I am doing for Christmas presents. I purchased six shuffles and carefully unpacked them all and loaded a 100 song play list (the 100 top rock and roll songs according to the Rolling Stone Magazine). I also made sure that each if fully charged. That way the recipients can open and use the new "toy" on Christmas day. As stated above, when they connect to their computer with their (new) iTunes account, the music will be erased, but until then they can give the player a good try-out. Jim

  • Giving an iPod as a gift, updated with my music

    Hi all,
I gave my nephew an iPod Classic as a gift. I uploaded all the music from my library before giving it to him. Now he's having trouble syncing it on his own computer. He wants to add his own music now.
Is there something easy we're overlooking? If I hadn't had several glasses of wine I might be able to figure this out, but hey, it's New Year's Day!
    Thanks,

  • HT1296 My ipod was a gift and had music downloaded.  How do I download music from the Itunes installed on my pc?

My ipod is sync'd to my son's pc, which he no longer has.  How do I now sync my ipod to my pc so I can download music from my itunes?

    Follow these instructions:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    To sync:
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.
