IPod as gift

We gave an iPod Nano as a gift. We loded it up with songs from our account, and from our cd's which we had saved into our computer's iTunes. Can the giftee transfer the iPod into their own account and still save the music that we gave them? If so...How is this accomplished? Also...The giftee has a PC....We have an iMac.

They will have to purchase their own music.

HELLO!! I WILL SEND 10 (TEN USD) USD IPOD CERTIFICATE GIFT TO THE FIRST WHO WILL SHOW ME HOW TO EXPORT VIDEO WITH QTIME PRO 7 TO THE IPOD WITH THE SOUND!!!!! IF I WILL TRY AND IT WILL WORK I WILL SEND U THE GIFT....
THANKS AND SEND ME REPLY TO [email protected]

    Ok. First off.
1)Open up the video that you want to convert in QT.
    2)Go to view, Movie info.
3)Check the formatting of the video. If it is MPEG1 or 2 Muxed(something like that), then when you try and convert it, you will only get the Video, no audio. It has something to do with in that format it is all one thing or something. I dont know for sure.
But if it is something else that MPEG1 or 2 Muxed, then continue
4)Go up to File(I believe it is), and select Export(If you cant select export, then connect your Ipod, then you should be able to select export)
5)Select the spot you want yor video to be saved. IE: Desktop, a folder...
6)Select the formatting that you want it. Most likely "Ipod 340x280(I think those are the numbers)".
7)Hit "save" or what ever the button is, then let it do its magic over night, and vwhala! A video perfect for your Ipod.

I have been asked to put A personal message put on 100 gift/present iPod Shuffles.
I have never attempted this and was wondering what kind of hurdles would pop up.
    Thanks,

    No, it makes no difference.
However, once end user plugs in the Shuffle to their own computer, the message will get deleted as you cannot connect the iPod Shuffle to multiple computers as you can with the other iPods.

  • IPod as Gift, can I buy purchased music for it in advance?

I am giving an iPod as a gift. Can I buy and download tunes to it using my account before I give it? Or does that screw up the registration process for the giftee?

The iPod has nothing to do with your iTunes account.
If you buy songs, they are yours, not whoever you are giving the iPod to and they will always remain yours.
If the other person wants to put them onto their computer you must give them your iTunes account password.
I suggest you buy them an iTunes gift card instead of the actual songs.
Or you can gift the songs to them in the iTunes store and they download them.

  • IPod as gift for Thailand - adapter?

Hello. We are buying an iPod for a relative in Thailand. Does the iPod come natively with European or Asian power cords (if bought in Asia) OR do you still have to buy a World Traveler Adapter Kit? Thanks.

i don't think the ipod ships with a power adaptor anymore, you have to buy it separately
in thailand the power outlets will usually accept either usa or european two-pin plugs, some will accept both
the ipod power adaptor ships with a clip-on connector matching domestic power sockets in the country of purchase
if this isn't what is needed then the simple option is unclip the connector and instead use the adaptor with a mains cable with a figure-of-eight connector (this is a connector type iec-320 c7), this plugs into the ipod power adaptor, and the correct mains plug at the other end
this is perfectly safe/normal, apple used to ship ipod power adaptors with exactly this type of cable in the days before it had the full range of clip-on connectors available
these leads are used by lots of small electrical devices, in the event the lucky recipient hasn't got any spare ones they'll be able buy one locally (they are not expensive)

  • Ipod Nano (gift), do I have a guarantee for it?

Hello together, days ago I won an Ipod Nano 6. Generation, unfortunatly I dont really need a new Ipod because i already have one. Therefore I want to resell it on an internet-platform.
    - Is it allowed to resell it? I hope so.
    - Do i have guarantee for it? I don't have a bill or anything else, just the SerialNumber on the package.
    Thank you in advance.
    kurolith

    Hello kurolith,
Yes, you are now the rightful owner of it and that gives you the right to do whatever you wish with it, including resellling it.
There is no guarantee. The iPod does come with a 1 year warranty from Apple starting from its date of purchase.  You can see when it ends by typing the serial number into this link.

  • IPOD Touch Gift Card Credit

I have a credit showing on my iTunes Stores account and yet when I purchased updated software for my iPod Touch, my credit card seemed to be charged. If I purchase apps, can these be charged to my redeemed card credit balance? Is there any way I can check to see where the charges are being applied or what I have been charged for. Something like an invoice or a list of charges, etc.
If charges to iTunes Store appear on my credit card I want to be able to know what they are for.

Thanks, but what about some kind of invoice or receipt of items charged to my credit card? Is there some place it records what the charges were for. When I go to my credit card account online it shows the charge but no description of what the charge is for other than to pay iTunes store?

  • I would like to use one library but with multiple ipods, but because they are my kids Ipods, and they each have their own gift cards, I'd like to be able to add money to their "profiles" without them having their own account - what is the best way

So here is my delima - I want one Ipod account - because I only want one library - since we all like the same music - but my kids, who have their own IPODS, have gift cards, who want to be able to keep track of their balance without the other child affecting the balance - meaning - each gift card should be seperate and not totalled to the single account - Beacuse the library is fairly large, having three libraries of large amounts would be a waste.  I would also like to restrict their purchased to the gift cards only and not my credit card on file.  Does this make sense?  Once this is resolved, I'm assuming they would use their own playlists to copy their favorites to each Ipod.  Or would I set up an account for each child - which I dont want to do, because I dont want them having access to my Credit Card, and only gift card balances.  With multiple accounts, I'm assuming that would also build seperate libraries?  We also have multiple computers, but I share the library to those computers -
What is the best way?  I'd like to be able to add credit to a specific child (birthdays, etc) without the other child being able to access that credit.  For simplicity sake.
We are new to IPODS and lack any MAC skills.
    Thoughts?

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • Can you buy a ipod with itunes gift cards

I found some guift cards on ebay and they have like $75 for $50 so i was wondering if i could buy a ipod with gift cards

Careful of those gift cards on ebay. I know a guy that bought a $100 gift card from ebay for $75 and after he entered the code in his iTunes account, he got a note from Apple saying the purchase of the gift card was reported by the credit card company as a fraudulent purchase, so he lost the credit and was out the $75 + shipping he paid the ebay seller.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

  • Possible solution to iPod not recognized in Windows

I myself have a Mac, but for that last week, since Xmas, have been trying to help a friend get her kids' iPods (Xmas gifts) to work with her Windows machine. She has a Dell with Windows XP. Her whole system is 2-3 months old.
We experienced the same problem as many. iPods not recognized by her system. We tried everything, the 5R's, prayers, tears, voodoo, human sacrifice (Bob from GeekSquad), everything.
Long story short, she discovered that if she disconnects her printer (a Lexmark all-in-one) from it's USB port, and then connects the iPods, the iPods are recognized and funcion normally with the system. She restarts her computer between disconnecting the printer and connecting the iPods. Not sure if that step is necesary at this point. Must be some sort of hardware/software conflict.
Just wanted to let everyone know in case this worked for them.

I don't usually reply in discussion sites, but after about 20 hours...doing the R's over and over, Applecare not being able to help, and one step away from giving up...I just had to say thank you! I tried everything...except removing my printer and scanner to see if they were conflicting...after I read your note, I tried, and it finally worked. Thank you so much...I really appreciate the suggestion...and my headache has seemed to go away!!! Hope that you have helped other people's stress as well! Happy New Year!

  • HOW CAN I GET ITUNES TO ACCEPT MY IPOD WITH MAC GENERATED MUSIC WITHOUT HAVING TO RESTORE IT AND LOOSING ALL MEDIA??

MY IPOD XMAS GIFT HAS MUSIC GENERATED ON A MAC. ITUNES WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT ON MY PC WITH WINDOWS 8.1 UNLESS IT IS RESTORED WHICH ITUNES STATES WILL WIPE OUT ALL EXISTING +1000 TUNES. WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE?

    Hey JIM2209,
Thanks for the question. You can transfer certain types of media from your iPod to a new iTunes library. These include music, movies and TV shows that were purchased from the iTunes Store. If you have music imported from a CD or other source, iTunes can’t transfer this media back to a computer:
iTunes: Transferring media from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iPod

Music imported from a CD or other source
    - iTunes can't transfer this media back to your computer.
    - Back up your iTunes library or use iTunes Match.

  • Putting promo material onto a TON of iPods

    Hi all,
I have an interesting question. I have approximately 120 iPod nano (3rd Gen) that are being given away by my client to their distributers. I have to put some promotional videos and images on each of them. Can I do this without all of the videos and images being erased once the intended recipients try and plug them into their computers (most likely windows machines and I'm on a Mac)? Then again, can I even get the promotional stuff on to all of them? Yep, I'm pretty much lost, any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers

  • IPod shuts down, comes back, shuts down, etc...

I have looked on the board for this problem, and have found a few similarities, but none that actually match my case. So, here goes...
First of all, my iPod: he is a very old 20GB iPod, a gift from Christmas 2003, and I have been considering replacing him or his battery, but I'm not sure that replacing the battery will fix this problem and I'd really rather not shell out $400 when all I want is my same iPod only working (I've got no interest in getting a new color iPod that holds a bazillion songs and plays videos and mixes songs and predicts my future and can save the world and everything--I just want to listen to music, that's all).
Anyway, so the problem is as follows: my iPod worked fine for about two years, aside from some minor problems (for example, sometimes if I clicked on a song he would think for a few seconds and then move to the song after it--but all I'd have to do is go right back to the song I wanted to play, and there would be no problem). No real difficulties charging, holding a charge, going to sleep, waking up, etc.
Then, last summer, I joined the cross-country team, and wore him when I ran, and he started having more problems. I have a little blue iPod belt-pack that I wear when I run, and it's supposed to keep the iPod from bouncing out and crashing onto the floor, which it does. However, it does not keep him from bouncing, and I think this is what started everything. I have a certain playlist that I listen to when I run, and sometimes he'll finish one song and the bouncing will mess him up and he'll skip several songs and move to one towards the end of the list (and refuse to play the skipped ones, even if I click on them manually--he'll just skip right over them again). I'm fairly sure it's the bouncing because I have noticed that if I run more slowly and softly when he's finishing a song, it reduces the chance of him having a hissy-fit and skipping the next seven songs.
(I should probably note here that he does not always skip the same songs, and all of my music plays fine most of the time, so it's not a song problem.)
Anyway, shortly thereafter he started having battery problems when I ran--occasionally he'd crash in the middle of a run, and display his Angry!Battery! sign when I tried to turn him back on. Annoying, but he didn't seem to have problems any other time, so I'd let it slide.
A few weeks ago, however, he started having SERIOUS battery problems. I'd be listening to him when I was doing homework or reading or some other mundane activity that involves little to no real motion, and he'd suddenly shut down after about half an hour and display his Angry!Battery! sign at me when I tried to turn him back on.
So this went on, and I got very frustrated, blah blah blah, and then he started being a NEW kind of broken.
Now, he'll shut down with no warning (although I have noticed that it happens quite often when I am scrolling through a song--it's not nearly as frequent when I just listen to a song all the way through), but turn back on when I try to turn him on. The battery is displayed as empty, but it refills itself as he plays, until he suddenly gets mad and shuts down again. Sometimes, I can turn him back on, and he plays for a good amount of time; sometimes, I can turn him back on and he plays for about a minute and then dies; other times, there'll be an Angry!Battery! sign and I have to plug him in.
So, to recap my most current problem, because this post is getting long:
    -iPod shuts down randomly
-iPod turns back on, shows empty battery, but plays anyway and battery slowly refills
-iPod shuts down again after about half an hour
-iPod occasionally turns on and plays as normal, often for as long as an hour; if not, iPod either turns on and shuts down after a few seconds, or shows Angry!Battery! sign and refuses to turn on.
Also I should probably mention that my brother got an identical iPod for Christmas the same year, and has never run with his or really used it for anything except listening to music when he studies or drives (he has one of those car gadget things), and doesn't have the same problems.
I'm thinking it's a battery problem, but the fact that sometimes he'll shut down and then come back and play for his usual amount of time (remember, this is a 2003 iPod, so the battery has never been as powerful as the new ones), and also the fact that it happens most often when I am moving through a song, makes me wonder. Should I pay the $60 to replace the battery, or is it time to just get a new iPod? (I really miss running with music.)
    Thanks!
    -Brooke

It's not the tracks that are causing it to freeze up. It's random!
All these tracks have been on my iPod since day one and played fine and most of them are from iTMS anyway.
