Ipod automatically deletes songs

My ipod touch continuously removes songs and displays a cloud.  It also continuously show a song available but skips past it when you try to play the song!

To only show songs downloaded to the iPod (no cloud icon) go to Settings.iTunes and App Store and turn off Show All.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem then there appears to be a problem with either iTunes or iOS 8.1.3 since some other users are having the same problem.

  • How can you delete songs off the ipod without deleting songs off your itunes library?

How can you delete songs off the ipod without deleting songs off your itunes library?  My son's ipod automatically synced all the songs in my library to his ipod which he now wants to get rid of.  Is there a way to delete them all without me having to erase my library?

Do not select the songs to sync, then sync.

  • How to synchronize iPod without deleting songs not in library?

    hello all,
I have a problem. I would like to synchronize my iPod to iTunes but I have some songs on my my iPod that are not present in library (Cd's that I have deleted from my library etc.) I am assuming that if I synchronize the two, then iTunes will delete any songs on the iPod that aren't present in the library. So I ask you, how do I get iTunes to only add songs present in the library and not delete songs on the iPod?
    Regards,
    Glen

Did you set your ipod to automatically synchronize?
This is from the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' in the Help menu:
    iPod shortcuts
Prevent iPod from automatically updating when you connect it to your computer
Command-Option as you connect the iPod to your computer (hold the keys down until the iPod appears in the iTunes Source list)
Next, set your iPod to manually update or update selected playlists in the preferences.

  • Can't edit ipod (add/delete songs/playlists)

I rebooted my pc with my 30gb 5th gen. ipod still connected. The next time I plugged in my ipod a pop up box came on and asked if I wanted to set up my ipod (as if it were a different ipod). the first time it happened I said no and the ipod worked as it normally did. the next time, like an idiot a clicked yes. ITunes recognizes my ipod but won't let me make any changes like adding/deleting songs or playlists. Do I need to restore it and if so how do I do that? Is there something else I need to do?

it must be on auto sync, try checking the 'manually manage ipod' box in itunes when youre ipods connected.

  • Transferring frrom iTunes to a new ipod and deleting songs on the old

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum. My Ipod nano is almost full, so I wish to delete the playlists/ songs on it and give it to another family member, but without deleting anything in iTunes. Them I want to transfer everything in my existing iTunes onto a new, bigger ipod. What's the workflow for doing that safely?
    Thanks.
    Nano   Windows XP

1 - Hand them them iPod and say, "Happy iPod to
    you!".
2 - Plug in the new iPod, watch it load, unplug it
and think, "Happy iPod to me" and use it.
    It really is that simple.
    Thanks.
How do I delete playlists from the original ipod without deleting them from itunes (so that they are unchanged and ready to synch. with the new one)?

  • ITunes automatically deletes songs?!?!

I received an iPod shuffle 2nd gen for Christmas. I am very frustrated with trying to use the thing. I have over 30 Gigs of mp3 burned to RW discs. I do not want to reload the songs on my hard drive because I need the free space. I would like to have a small selection of my favorites on the iPod when I am not around an mp3 disc player (computer/car stereo). I have gone throught he exercise of copying the desired music to the iPod via iTunes 7. I listen to the iPod without incident. However when I recharge the iPod, iTunes deletes all of my MP3s and I have to reload the songs - EVERY TIME!! This is very frustrating. Is there a setting I can use to stop this behavior? I have seen posts about using the Summary tab on the iPod Device screen but iTunes 7 only displays a Setting and Contents tab, neither of which seem to be helpful.
    Thank you,
    Fred

Thanks for the reply. Let's see if I understand completely as I am an old dog trying to learn new tricks here.
    1. The iPod shuffle always removes songs that are not in the iTunes folder on my hard drive every time I plug the thing in for a charge.
    2. I'm assuming that this behavior explains another problem that I am having:
    a. I copy MP3s from one CD to my iPod and everything looks fine.
    b. I copy songs from a second MP3 CD and the first set of songs disappears even though I haven't unplugged and reattached the iPod.
Kind of irratating seeing as how I copied the MP3s to CD to avoid having them on my hard drive.
Another question - When I added the MP3s on CD to my iTunes Music Library it didn't physically copy the songs to folder on the HD. Can I copy them with Explorer and have iTunes find and reload them with Autofill??

  • IPOD/ iTunes deleted songs

I was putting new songs on my 30GB IPOD w/ iTunes, when all of a sudden it said error, and now all of my songs from my ipod were deleted. This is the second time now in less than a month. However, going into my IPOD and looking in "about" its still showing there is 7GB stored. Is there any way to get the songs back?

The same thing happened to me, only not all of my songs we're deleted. Only eleven, but still I DO want those songs because I paid for them. But, as you said before, how do I restore my ipod. I have the 30GB video ipod. Luckily I had burned a CD earlier that day which had some of the songs that were deleted. PLEASE RESPOND

  • Help! iPod Touch deleted songs after connecting to iTunes but songs still show up in iTunes display

I connected my iPod Touch 64GB (iOS 5.1.1.) to iTunes (12.0.5.00) on my MacBook Pro (10.10.2) in order to add a couple of podcasts.  Unfortunately, now only the podcasts show up on my iPod display -- they're the only audio media on the device. My 6500 songs, all my playlists are gone from the iPod (and iPod display) as well. However, on the iTunes display on my computer, when my iPod is connected, all my songs and playlists are there.
Hoping I can get some help figuring out what went wrong and how to get the songs back on my iPod so I don't have to manually add them all from a backup external hard drive (I don't keep them all in iTunes nor all the backup files on my computer's hard drive to save space).
You can see in the photo below on the left side of the display, 'On My Device', all my playlists remain. On the main display, all my music is there -- it's just not on the actual iPod itself. You can also see at the bottom of the screen, the iPod capacity bar, which shows that 56.80 GB is free, suggesting the songs are in fact, deleted from the iPod.
Can anyone assist? Any thoughts as to why the songs & playlists still show up in iTunes if they are in reality deleted from the iPod?
Thank you for any info or assistance, it's very much appreciated.
    Derek

And I've now tried connecting the iPod to an older Macbook running iTunes 12.0.0.140 and I'm getting the same thing -- the songs and media shows up under 'Devices' on the left, but they are not actually there. Trying to double click on them brings up the symbol. Wondering how the 'ghost' effect of them showing up in iTunes can happen if they are no longer on the iPod itself.
Thanks again for any thoughts, suggestions, or assistance.

  • Automatically delete songs from my iPhone after I get done listening to it.

I have about 30 gigs of mp3's loaded on to my iPhone 3GS. I have some smart playlists (like all songs by a particular artist) and I have synced these playlists on to my iPhone.
This is a subset of my music, and I intend to load the others after I get done listening to these.
I could listen to these through the playlists in order, or shuffle them. In any case, I would like the iPhone's iPod and/or iTunes to remove the song from my iPhone as I get done listening to it. This way, the # of songs on my iPod will gradually dwindle and eventually I'll upload another set on to it. I will also avoid listening to one song many times.
    How do I do this?
Can I keep track of which songs have been played and delete them off my iPhone manually? It will be a pain to have to do this manually..

I have some smart playlists that I use to fill my ipod with new music.
    Such as,
Last Played is not in the past 15 days
Limit to 600MB selected by most recently added
Live Updating is checked in all of these playlists.
There are a lot of options in smart playlist criteria to help you do what you want.

  • IPOD shows deleted songs

Hello i have an iPOD 5th gen, and I accidentalz almost deleted all songs on it. So I rather unplugged it in progress - to prevent deletion of all my songs..
Now iPOD shows songs he probably did delete, but didnt delte from his library... How can I check out whats left on my iPOD (force him to read from its self which songs are on his hdd)
    Thx.

Can't you just look under music-->songs and see what is there?
Are you trying to get songs back on the computer, or are they on the computer and trying to get them back on the iPod, or what?

  • IPod automatically skips song

I just bought a song from the itunes store and it plays just fine in my itunes library. I put it on my ipod (nano 2nd gen) but the ipod is automatically skipping the song but is playing all my other songs just fine. I have restored it twice and it still is skipping it. Is there something else I can do or is my song file bad? Any help would be awesome!
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you have restored the iPod and are playing the song in iTunes (which would activate it for the iPod), then there could be something wrong with the song (in which case they'd get you a new version). However, there are others steps to try.
Every week, iTunes has a free song of the week. Try downloading that song and seeing if it plays on your iPod. A link is available below (and will open iTunes on your computer)...
Click here to open iTunes to the free song of the week
If this song does not work, then there is another issue at hand.
In addition, try the steps listed here (specifically under the purchased songs section)...

I bought songs using Itunes on my Ipod touch. When I connected my touch to my computer and it synced it then deleted the songs off my itouch and it never put them on my computer. What do i do?

This happened to me once. I contacted the iTunes store customer service and they allowed me a free download of the lost songs.

  • Can delete songs from iPod shuffle automatically but not podcasts

Suddenly when I delete songs from my iTunes library they will also be deleted on my iPod shuffle, which is what I want, but when I do the same with podcasts (delete them from my iTunes library) they do not automatically get deleted from my Shuffle.
Any ideas on what's wrong?  Thanks.

    Hi, Jixx0615.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
When you try to delete from a device running iOS 7, make sure to hold your finger on the song for a few seconds before swiping to the left. This should expose the red Delete button.

  • Please help! Deleting songs from itunes library & updating ipod

Must I keep all albums I wish to upload into my ipod on my computer? I have the ipod settings set to automatic and if I delete the album from the library (completely from my pc) the next time I connect my ipod the album gets deleted from the ipod.
I tried setting the ipod to manual but then I can't figure out how to update my ipod with the songs I want to add. It really doesn't make sense for me to have to fill up my hard drive with all of this music just to keep the songs on my ipod. I really hope someone can please tell me otherwise.

If it's on Manual update, you simply drag the songs from the library to the iPod in iTunes.
If you wan tot remove music, right click on it and select Clear. Do this with the iPod selected not a playlist on the iPod.
