Ok, let's get the silly question out of the way first. You do have the backlight timer set right? Look under settings/backlight timer.
If you do and it still doesn't work, try these.

  • How do I adjust the back light time for my iPod 5th generation?

I Set my iPods back light timer (not sure what it's called exactly) to one minute. And after realizing that some things get annoying to have to tap the screen constantly to keep it from locking itself I wanted to change it back to "Never" but I forgot where that setting is. If anyone knows where it is, which I'm sure many do, please tell me where to find it. Thanks.

Hey Turnerfran, go into Settings>General and scroll down to Auto-Lock tap on it you can choose from 1 minute to 5 minutes or turn it off. If you choose off the back light will stay on until you put your iPod to sleep or turn it off or after the battery drains. Good luck. Cheers.

  • My ipod touch back light doesnt work

  • Is there anyway to get the back light fix on a ipod

The back light on my sons ipod doesnt work. The device works fine you just cant see anything.
Any ideas of how to get this fix.
I dont want to buy another one.

Unfortunatley, no accessibility feature in the general settings.
You can change the text size for mail (in mail settings) , but text messages and contacts are locked, it seems,  at the default size. This is a drag for me as I now have to either hold my phone out at arms length or put on reading glasses to read text messages and/or make calls.
Maybe there is an APP for this? - appstore or elsewhere?

  • My ipods backround light has went all dark and when i try and go into settings and put the lighting back up it doesnt work?

my ipods backround light has went all dark but you can still see the ipods on its jsut hard to read because its so dark, ive tried going into settings but that isnt working either

It could be broken, but I'd try Reset and/or Restore. If you need instructions, download the manual here. See page 52 for reset and 56 for restore.

  • Back light and firmware 1.2

When I connect my iPod to my PC, the backlight stays on (a bit dimmed, but still on).
Not a big problem until I noticed that my iPod got rather warm.
I did not have that problem with the previous firmware releases. The screen used to be dark (the lcd active, but no back light)
It started today when I upgraded iTunes and the firmware.

There is already a thread on this topic. But this appears to be a new feature with this new firmware. I actually like it. I found mine got a little warm, but nothing that concerns me. Now I can see the spinning wheel over in the top left corner so I know when my iPod is working in the backgrounds via iTunes. Never could tell this before.

    You can change the Auto-Lock in Settings> General> Auto-Lock.

  • My 2nd generation Ipod red light stays on

I got a 2nd Generation Ipod Shuffle, and it was fantastic up until now.
It was docked and the green light was on, So i ejected it, and the green light just stayed on. The ipod was off, up until i turned it on after removing it from the dock. Shortly after my ipod's light turned red and isn't recognized by itunes anymore. The light just stays red and doesn't shut off whether the ipod is on or off. I put the ipod back on the dock hoping that something would happen but it just stays the same. i turn the ipod on, and nothing happens whatsoever. the red light just stays on and nothing happens.
Something is obviously wrong with my ipod, can someone please help me?! I'm extremely frusterated by this, it worked just fine, and i plugged it in to charge it and ever since then it hasn't been the same.

    That shouldn't be happening.

ipod classic used to show chrging symbol on main screen when back light goes out.
It does not show this feature now, although the ipod small green battery when the back light is on shows that the battery is charging.
Can anybody please tell me how i can restore this feature.
I have tried the factory reset, and also local ipod reset- does not fix problem
    Please help, thank you

What on earth do you mean by shattered? Can you post a picture?
It's always possible that the connector was damaged but not to the point that chargers wouldn't work. With continued use, the damage got worse until the connector could no longer feed electricity into the phone.
It sounds to me like you need to get your phone replaced but only the folks at an Apple store can say for sure.

  • PLEASE HELP!! How Do You Restore ITunes Library From IPOD Back To Computer

My entire library on intunes has been deleted and now all I have left is the music which i still stored on my ipod. I have done a total search on my PC and there is no track listings at all. My only chance is to restore the itunes library from the Ipod back to the PC. Is this possible and how do you do it. Am totally gutted and cant beleive the files are gone. Plllllease help me.

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy purchased music back to iTunes directly. If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.
    Regards.

  • Laptop crashed and how to transfer music from ipod back to laptop and won't transfer new purchases to ipod?

My laptop crashed about 2 days ago. I got it fixed and had to reinstall it. I had to reinstall itunes all over again. How do I transfer all my songs from my ipod including the ones that were from hardcopies and by hardcopies I mean cds I bought in real life and is on a disc. All of the songs are still on my ipod so how do I upload all of the songs and videos (purchases, music/songs from hardcopies/cds uploaded not bought from itunes, etc...?) How would I upload all of that back to itunes on my laptop? Another question is for some reason when I hook up my ipod to my laptop, I recently bought 23 songs about a day ago and it won't upload those purchases to my ipod, is it because I have all the hardcopies and downloads on my ipod that the itunes library doesnt have? Also, how would I sync my newest purchases to my ipod efficiently without deleting any of the hardcopies I uploaded before my laptop crashed?

phonefans is a spammer, ignore his posts.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
