Ipod Back to School rebate

I just bought an iBook and iPod (I'm in the UK) and am about to apply for my £100 Back to School rebate for buying them both at the same time. On the claim form it says you have to
"Cut out the UPC labels form the qualifying product boxes. Make sure you cut out the whole label, including the part number with bar code, the serial number, the product description and all layers of the cardboard. Peeled-off labels will not be accepted"
I desperately don't want to start cutting up my iPod and iBook boxes but I notice they have similar labels on the brown outer cardboard boxes they were delivered in. Does anyone know if these will be accepted?

Spark,
I want to be sure that I read your post correctly. You're willing to pass up a £100 rebate because you don't want to damage the shipping boxes? You have a lot more discretionary income than the rest of us!

  • Mac/iPod back to school rebate offer Proof of purchase issue

I brought a macbook and applied for the iPod rebate the other day.
I'm now stuck with trying to provide evidence as the EAN label on my Macbook box won't come off, and the man at the apple store said that I would need the barcode if I had any trouble with my Mac (as proof of apple care)
I dont want to cut up the box, and i dont want to lose my apple care cover, so what do i do? will they still refund me if i just send the ipod serial?

The others are correct. The terms of the rebate program state that the Mac and the iPod and the Mac and the iPod must have been purchased at the same time and at an Apple Store, physical or online, or an Apple campus reseller. Sorry, but you will not be eligible for either rebate.

  • Back to school rebate send in questions

when sending your claim for apple rebates.. do you have to send the original receipt and label from the box or can you send copies of them?

This is not Apple. This is a user forum. Contact where you purchased and ask them.

  • For the upcoming Apple back to school rebate, can Apple send the rebate to my relative's house ?

I will not in the US during the time the rebate may come, so can I tell Apple to send the rebate to my relative's house. Since in the FAQ, Apple said they only send the rebate to the billing address ?

Contact your payment account people to accept that as an alternative billing address, and then once that's setup, add that to Apple's account info for you as an alternative billing address.  Then order the item with the new address setup.  Inform your relative to inform you when that account company sends their statements, and see if you can monitor that account online.

  • Back to School iPod promo with the Core 2 iMacs

Does any one know if apple is planning on allowing the core 2 iMacs to be apart of the back to school promo?
Under the terms and conditions they say "Products not listed in this chart are ineligible for a rebate". So does that mean that the core 2 counts?

Sorry........new iMac core 2 duo cant count for Back to School iPod promo....
"What are the qualifying Mac and iPods?
This offer is available only on purchases of new product. The products listed below are eligible for participation in this offer. Products not listed in this chart are ineligible for a rebate. Configure to order versions of these products are eligible. Refurbished products are ineligible.
Note: The iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo is not eligible for this offer. The entry iMac 17-inch 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo with Combo Drive (part number MA406LL/A) and any configure-to-order version of this product also are not eligible for this offer."

  • No "back to school" promotion on new iPods :(

I just called Apple, and am sorry to discover the "Back to School" promotion for educators and students has effectively ended 4 days early, as none of the new iPods are eligible for the promotion.
Incidently, I'm sorrier to discover how rude the phone rep was... I understand it's a heavy call volume day for Apple, but there's no excuse for the sort of haughy condescension I got, being interrupted with: "no way. no way. there's no way Apple would ever give a new product like that away. you should know that..."
It's a good thing the technology does a good job selling itself.

Two questions...I assume from your post that they no longer have the older Nanos in stock that are eligible for the promotion? And, what about the Apple stores? Do they sell out old stock, or would they also only have the new models available?
If the older models aren't available at all through normal education channels (which for many means only directly from Apple), I find it extremely annoying that they advertised the promotion until the 16th and then pulled them. That's very poor form.

  • Is there any way to put all the music FROM my iPod back onto my computer?  My school tech person not only wiped out my iTunes, the wiped out my back-up hard drive.

    Hello cgbuehling
You can, but only the purchases that were made from the iTunes Store. Other content that was imported from a CD or other sources will not transfer over.

  • Is there going to be another back to school deal this year?

Like when you buy a macbook and you get a free printer or an ipod or something?

"Back to school" offers have hit the Apple mainpage now. New this year is bonuses for iPhone purchases.
It seems we had to get past Fathers day a little, and now Labor Day (Sept 1 or thereabouts) and back to school is the next big event.

  • Lost iPod in Middle School 7-8

So, today I get back from school to find my 2 month young iPod is missing from my backpack pocket. In shock, I convinced my mom to drive me to school so I could check my locker to see if it fell out! Nothing! Im in a pretty crappy mood right now and am searching for answers. Is there any way to address my peers about such a topic and getting the theif to return it? I saw a few kids checking out my locker early this morning and after gathering evidence found suspects. I called one up and he denies going into my locker and sais he was near it. I didn't know the kid so how would he know which locker was mine? Well, I am rambling, but if anyone out there has a solution to this mess I pray you will find it in your heart to help me!

I think the only thing you can do is make the iPod unusable. To bad you dont have my wife aas a teacher she got a stolen iPod back from some real bad *** kids when she didnt even have suspects. sorry for you loss

  • Back to school education program question

I bought my macbook pro 2 weeks ago. I live in UK and a friend will bring it in a month for me from the us. When Ill first use the computer probably the back to school promotion will start. Is the promotion valid from the day that I buy the computer or from the day I first use it.?

It only applies to purchases made while the promotion is ongoing or within the promotion window (which I don't know as its not currently active but its not usually more than 30 days if memory serves).
You can check the exact range if / when the program re-opens: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/back_to_school
If you did somehow qualify, someone would have to bring you (like now) / send you the iPod from the US as the computer purchase was made in the US.
    Good luck!

  • PLEASE HELP!! How Do You Restore ITunes Library From IPOD Back To Computer

My entire library on intunes has been deleted and now all I have left is the music which i still stored on my ipod. I have done a total search on my PC and there is no track listings at all. My only chance is to restore the itunes library from the Ipod back to the PC. Is this possible and how do you do it. Am totally gutted and cant beleive the files are gone. Plllllease help me.

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy purchased music back to iTunes directly. If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.
    Regards.

  • Laptop crashed and how to transfer music from ipod back to laptop and won't transfer new purchases to ipod?

My laptop crashed about 2 days ago. I got it fixed and had to reinstall it. I had to reinstall itunes all over again. How do I transfer all my songs from my ipod including the ones that were from hardcopies and by hardcopies I mean cds I bought in real life and is on a disc. All of the songs are still on my ipod so how do I upload all of the songs and videos (purchases, music/songs from hardcopies/cds uploaded not bought from itunes, etc...?) How would I upload all of that back to itunes on my laptop? Another question is for some reason when I hook up my ipod to my laptop, I recently bought 23 songs about a day ago and it won't upload those purchases to my ipod, is it because I have all the hardcopies and downloads on my ipod that the itunes library doesnt have? Also, how would I sync my newest purchases to my ipod efficiently without deleting any of the hardcopies I uploaded before my laptop crashed?

phonefans is a spammer, ignore his posts.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
