IPod Back-up before updating

I am getting ready for the release of iOS4, and I want to know, If the iPod back-up will go straight back on so that I still have all my saved data, or do I have to do something?

The backup does not include any itunes content.  The backup is to restore settings.  All of your content should always be on your computer.
If the music was not on your computer, then it would not be on your ipod.
You can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • HT4061 i am not sure if i have backed up before updating

I am not sure if i have backed up my phone before updating. My icould is showing an update of october 2012? and itunes restore backup is not coming up? Please help,

To check if you have done a back up on iTunes go to:
    Mac
    iTunes>Preferences>Devices
    Windows
    Edit>Preferences>Devices
If you did back up your iPhone to iTunes it will show up here. In terms of iCloud sign into iCloud on the iPhone then go to storage and back up and it should shows you a back up of the iPhone IF it was backed up to iCloud. For a guide to show how to restore from a back up in any of these locations follow the link below:

    All the best

  • How do I get my old apps back from before update

I need my paid apps back but I can't find them

If you created a backup, you can restore from that.
Launch iTunes. From the menu bar, click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
If there's a backup available, you'll see it there.
And, you can see your Apps under Library on the left side of the iTunes window.
And go to the App Store on your iPod. Find a previously downloaded app. You should be able to re download without repurchasing.

Am getting the same error. Tried (deleting backups and creating new one), resinstalling itunes - none helped. I get the same error code too. Not able to upgrade to 4.0.1 because of the above.

  • Didn't back up before updating, can I find my photos?

I just updated (iphone 3) and I transferred purchased files but didn't backdate, now all the photos are missing except 4 of them. Is there anything I can do?

You declined the prompt to update your iPhone's backup which is provided first before installing a firmware update?
When was the last time you synced your iPhone with iTunes and were these photos captured by your iPhone since the last time you synced?
If captured since the last time you synced your iPhone with iTunes and you declined the prompt to update your iPhone's backup as the first step before installing the firmware update, kiss these photos goodbye.
Although photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup, photos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.

  • HT4972 Can I reverse the update as I did not do a back up before updating? I haven't yet done a restore, but my iPad is asking to be plugged in to iTunes.

I allowed the iPad to update its ios5 and the next message was to plug into itunes. My computer is asking me to restore it to my original settings, which I assume will erase everything on the ipad. Can I cancel this and revert to previous settings and not update? I haven't synced the two for a while as most of my data is in icloud, but I don't want to lose anything.

    you cannot reverse the update.
if you upgrade to ios 5 then all your settings are removed.
most of my data is in icloud
as you stated then you must have a cloud backup. if you do then you can restore from that.

  • Updated iPad2 with OS5 but forget backup password, how do I retrieve password or go back to before update since I saved password on iPad

Updated ipad2 with OS5 but forget my backup password, can I reset from previous setting and try again since my password is somewhere on my iPad?

If you want to restore to a backup then you need to know what the password for that backup is - so no, you are stuck in a loop, as in order to find your password that you've got stored in that backup, you will need to enter the password so that you can restore to that backup

  • The iPod Freezes after Firmware Update 1.2

I just updated my ipod to the firmware version 1.2 and instantly after the update the ipod started to mal-function.
I hope to god this isnt going to become one of those issues that is overlooked by Apple.
If anyone has any suggestions, or ways to fix this or a similar problem, please do not hesitate to post.

I too had this happen to me. Ipod works great before update. I install itunes7 and update firmware and then it starts freezing during song/podcast or video playback. It has to be reset by holding Menu and center button. I tried a restore on it thinking it didn't update correctly. I re-synced by entire library (which takes a while). That didn't help. So I went back to 1.1.2 update
All I did was uninstall Itunes7 and then got the 06-28 update from the another site and installed and restored my ipod. Reinstalled intunes7 and unchecked update automatically. And re-sync all my library.
3 hours I will never get back. But my ipod works again.
I posted a story to digg about this in the hopes of get Apple to respond that there are major problems with 1.2 update.
    Please digg my story

  • HT5192 Do I have to back my iOS device before updating if I'm updating from my iPod settings?

Do I need to back up my iPod touch before updating software if I'm on the iPod and updating over wifi?

I would. If something goes pear shaped during the upgrade you have a backup to fall back on.

  • HT201210 been trying to restore ipod touch for days after updating itunes. keep getting error #9. Tried it on 2 computers, with vista + XP. tried all the solutions posted. nothing is working. Thanks Apple. Didn't have this problem before updating itunes!

Been trying to restore Ipod touch for days after updating Itunes. Error code #9. Stuck on restore screen. Tried all the solutions posted. Tried on 2 computers, Vista + XP. No device shown on computer. Thanks Apple! Didn't have this problem before update. How about rolling back your update?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Backed up Iphone 3 before updating to 4.2.  Now all my info (contacts, photos etc) are from 2 years ago.  It did sync a current backup??

I backed up my Iphone 3 before updating to 4.2.  Now all my info (contacts, phone, calendar, apps, books) from the last 1 1/2 years is gone.  Where is all my current stuff?  Why will it not restore my current info?  Thanks!!

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • Updating bringing ipod back to restore screen.

Every time I try to update my ipod to version 2.2 before it finishes extracting software it brings my ipod back to it's restore screen. And whenever I try to restore my ipod it stops at extracting software again because it always asks me to restore and update or cancel, so I don't have much choice. I've also uninstalled and then installed itunes twice now and it does it again. Also is it possible to delete software, like the update because if it's possible then I can delete the update software and download it again because I'm almost certain that my update is corrupted and that's why it doesn't work.

    Hi
OCI has got an interface file interface.asp (generated by catalog application) which fetches the relevant data from the catalog and transfers this data back to the EB system.
In order to send the data back to the EB system from the catalog via user's webbrowser, the return URL (HOOK_URL) parameter of the OCI structure must be inserted into the <b>Action</b> attribute of the HTML form (interface.asp) created by the catalog. Also the input parameters/fields has to be sent back to the EB system have to be syntax specific.
The parameter value for the HOOK_URL should be left blank in your call structure. It is automatically filled by EBP at runtime.

  • I backed up my ipod. I then updated it but all of my data is still gone. How do I get my data back??

I backed up my ipod. I then updated it but all of my data is still gone. How do I get my data back??

Were the app in your iTunes library? If not the app data in the backup has no place to go. Redownload the apps in your iTunes libaray
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    and then restore from backup.

Otherwise, try restoring from backup again.
If still problem that means the backup does not include the data.

After updating my MacBook Pro to yeosemite I want my old desktop picture back. I did a full back up before the install. I found the "Settings" folder in Time machine but when I try to open it I get an error message saying "You can not open this folder. It is in TimeMachine".

Can you browse the Time Machine drive from Finder?
If you can and you know where the picture was stored ie on your desktop you can browse through the folder structure to the picture copy it and paste it somewhere on your new install before right clicking it and 'set as desktop background'

    Hello Michael.
Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem is not disappears when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.
Also, if you want to use an older version of Firefox, please use Firefox 3.5.11. Only versions 3.5.11 and 3.6.8 are supported, and both contain all the latest security fixes. Using any other version is unsafe and not recommended.
