Ipod Battery Capacity

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the capacity of the battery for the 30 gig 5g ipod video. To clarify, i'm looking for a value in mAh, not in hours. There are more and more replacement battery kits becoming available for ipod videos and i was wondering how these replacement battery's capacity compares to the one in my ipod.
Thanks for the help in advance.
PC   Windows XP

I want the original battery capacity in Mah because more and more aftermarket battery companies are marketing their replacement batteries. I want to know if they actually have a greater capacity than the current one in my ipod. I have currently seen batteries for salle that are for the 5G ipod 30gig that have 450Mah, 550Mah and 580Mah capacity. It'd be nice to know how many Mah my current battery has so i can compare.

  • IPod battery cycle

I am wondering--I know on the Mac, there is a way to check how many recharge cycles the battery has had, battery condition, etc. Is there a way to do this with the iPod touch? While this isn't a burning issue, and the battery is fine, I'm curious to see how many cycles the battery on the iPod has taken, and roughly how much life is left on it.
    Many thanks--
    Doc

I don't know of anything that will give you the number of charge cycles.
There is an app that predicts battery life and adjusts itself as your battery ages. You might find it useful. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?id=294768684
FYI: "A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles." http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html

  • Mini ipod battery issue

I have an old generation mini ipod. Despite the battery being charged full it cuts out and flashes up NO BATTERY POWER REMAINS. PLEASE CONNECT IPOD TO POWER. The battery icon flashes up with exclamation mark then completely shuts down. After leaving a few minutes eventually starts up but battery is empty. After leaving a further few minutes it eventually acknowleges a full battery and starts to work but then will shut down and repeat process.i then have to recharge via plug to get to work again.  I realise I have  a very old model ipod but can this be fixed without requiring a new battery?  Is this a common problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have tried restarting but has not worked.

    Hello Paul
The batteries that are in iPods do not last forever, they typically last about 400 times of being charged up and depleted. Check out the articles below for more information about your batteries.  The second article will give more insight and answer to questions that you might have.

  • Ipod battery display

first off, i have to say, this site ahs a horrible layout. (i know whoevers reading this probably cant do anything about it, but whatever)
i just updated my ipod software. i used to have a program that changed the ipod battery display to a numeric value (it was more accurate). i know that its a 3rd party application, but it worked fine before the update.
after the update, it said the numeric value was still on, but all it showed was the bar. i downloaded 2 other programs that did the same thing (all independent of each other), and they all told me the same thing.
Apparently this option was turned off in the update? if so, would you please either include this option in the next update or send me something to fix that please? i really like the numeric value. thank you in advance

"its been nearly 2 weeks, and i have yet to recieve even the slightest reply"
You are completely misunderstanding the concept of these Discussion forums. They are provided by Apple so that users of their products can ask questions and receive advice from other users to help out with technical problems. No one from Apple responds to these posts.
You were using some third party (non authorized) program to hack the iPod, so it's a little unfair to blame Apple if it no longer works wouldn't you say? I don't know which program you were using, but very often when Apple updates the iPod software, these 3rd party programs need to be re written accordingly. Maybe you should ask the writer of this program what steps he/she has taken to ensure that the program works with the current iPod software?
I would take issue with the statement that the numeric display makes the meter more accurate. With the bar display your iPod is "guessing" about battery state and demand to draw the bar, so it will also "guess" which number to display. So even if it displays alleged battery capacity to six decimal places, while that looks all scientific and digital and more accurate, it is working from the same info as the silly black bar. It's just a cosmetic change.
However, if you want that numeric display, this is the place to ask for it.

  • Measure battery capacity (not battery meter)?

Is there an app that measures the battery capacity (i.e. shows the maximum charge it can hold), and compare it to a new ipod touch's battery? If such app exists it would probably require you to fully charge the device and then let it discharge for a while.
I'm not looking for a battery meter, which shows only the current charge.

    Hi Kappy,
I got your point. However, I'm talking about capacity here(Watt hours), which is commonly expressed as mWh and for MacBook Pro it should be 60000 mWh, but mine shows 55000 mWh. Here are the specs for MacBook Pro http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html
I'm referring to Windows porgram just because I'm not that much familiar with Mac OSX yet...but more I use it, more I like it
P.S. Current Voltage is 12.436V and it does change from 9.8V to 12.65 depending on whether the battery is being drained down or charged.

  • Mid 2010 MacBook Pro battery capacity at 89% with 64 cycles

    Hello everyone,
I have a 13" mid 2010 MacBook Pro that I got around Christmas time. I downloaded coconutbattery a couple days ago and when i used it then My battery capacity had been 91%. So I thought that this was odd because of how new the computer is still (15 wks old with 64 battery cycles) so I read about how the battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time and after doing so (followed the directions perfectly) My capacity is now down to 89%. Should this be something to be concerned about or is this normal?

It's quite normal and sometimes a recalibration can see things go up as well as down

  • MacBook Pro Mid 2010 Battery Capacity

I've read a few threads about this, mostly about battery capacity rapidly dropping after an install of ML. I installed ML when it first came out, and just noticed the drastic decrease in battery life about 3 weeks ago. My capacity could have potentially been dropping since I installed ML (and I just now noticed it), or it may have just started a couple weeks ago when I noticed. I'm not sure.
Either way, my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) now has a battery life of less than an hour, even with extremely light processor load. I contacted Apple about this, and the tech said that the battery was rated for 1000 cycles. I'm currently at 220, and my battery capacity is a pathetic 30%. He said that since I wasn't under warranty, there was nothing they could do besides replace the battery - which I really want to avoid since I'm a broke college student.
Is there anything I can do here? I understand that I'm not under warranty anymore, and this wouldn't be a problem if my battery was degrading normally. However, getting 1/5th of the recommended battery life is pretty sad. I've read that doing a clean install of Mountain Lion/Lion might help. Is there a way I can do this without having to back up all my files? I don't have an external hard drive or anything.
It seems this is a common topic in these forums. Any help or links to solutions would be great. If this is answered in a similar topic, I'll gladly delete.

The iPod touch 5 battery won't charge, the iPod battery gets hot and doesn't turn on...  What is wrong?  Can photos and data be retrieved?

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem  due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup

  • Do You Know Your iPod Battery May Fall Under Warranty Replacement?

I have the extended warranty on my iPod Touch. My batter life was horrible... without wifi just playing music getting just over 3 hours. I also had a bad MBP battery. Called up AppleCare and got case numbers for both after diagnosis. Was taking a long drive to an Apple Store with Genus appt the next day...
My name was called and my Genus re-ran the MBP battery check finding it at fault and went to replace it... I said that I was having an issue with the Touch battery as well. He said "You know that the battery is NOT covered under warranty!". I said NO, if a battery is faulty that it is covered under warranty. I told him that it was THE reason that I purchased the warranty... He argued with me about it and I just couldnt believe my ears... I said that all he had to do was go to the Apple site and find the Touch battery warranty description... He started printing out the MBP battery replacement agreement and we had another video test to run on the MBP... he went in the back to get a DVD.
As I sat there I started hearing all the genus say to every customer with a iPod battery issue say that battery replacement cost blah blah blah... no one was asked if they had a warranty or that if the battery was found to be faulty the battery replacement would be covered. One guy came in with his son saying the iPod was a Christmas present and the battery was only getting blah blah hours... Again, he was told that a battery replacement would cost $$$. It was surely under warranty but he was still charged! ***?
My Genus comes back and runs the video test with a Howdy Doody DVD, UGH... anyways... he goes back to return the DVD and comes back with something in his hand, unwraps a Touch and tosses it my way. I asked him what was up? He says that the original Touch battery is not replaceable so here was a new one. I said OK... thinking, why was he giving me one after arguing with me about the battery NOT being under warranty???
So, I guess it pays off to know your warranty with Apple products as the Genus wont offer the facts. Maybe this was just at the Cleveland OH Apple Store. So, wondering if you know that your iPod battery may fall under warranty and if this is a national fraud by Genus?
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB591LL/A#overview "3. Service coverage is available for battery depletion of 50 percent or more from original specification."

According to this page -> http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, etc. Before you submit your iPod for service, it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the data stored on your iPod and reinstall that data. Please do not send any accessories with your iPod as they will not be returned.
Attention iPod touch customers: Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPod touch and does not offer any data transfer service.
Following service your replacement iPod touch may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need to restore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

  • Where can i get my ipod battery changed

where can i get my ipod battery changed

Apple does not replace batteries.  Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished 4 gen iPod with a new battery for $79 (free if it is still under warranty). Or google for replace iPod battery to find a local store or online shop that will replace the battery in your existing iPod for less. You can even buy a battery on line for $10-20 and do the replacement yourself if you are up to it.

  • Macbook Pro 11,3 High End Retina battery capacity

    HI,
As recent as 2 weeks ago I receieved a  macbook pro that I purchased online. However due to the physical problems I had another one sent to me by apple. While waiting for the shipping company to pick up the problematic macbook pro I thought I'd compare the battery life on both of these units. to my suprise the old unit was performing better in terms of battery life.
New Macbook Pro 11,3 Capacity: 8688 mAh
2 Weeks Old Macbook Pro 11,3 Capacity: 8969 mAh
    My questions are as follows:
    1) Is this to be expected?
    2) Should I complain and get it replaced again?
    3) Anything I could do to increase the capacity on the new MPR?
Appreciate your input on this, cheers!
    Happy holidays!

Great to hear :) I was really worried about my battery capacity as well when I got my 2nd mac.
The reason I exchanged my first one was it had really bad battery life. I tried all sorts of solutions and nothing seemed to work. It would always show I had a high battery capacity but the battery life was just terrible. I decided to exchange it and when I got my replacement I noticed it had low battery capacity. It turned out to be a great laptop it has much better battery life and it's capacity went up after I put a couple cycles on it.

  • IPOD BATTERY

Recently, just after the year period of course, my 4th gen ipod battery drained really fast. I got a replacement battery that is supposed to be better, but it still drains fast. It doesnt drain quite as fast, but if left unplugged overnight, I can not turn it on in the morning. I have checked the clock and the alarm, nothing is turning it on. I have tried reseting it and I have made sure that it is up to date on the software. What can I do? Does anyone know of anything else that could be wrong with it?

did you charge the new battery for at least 3 hours when you just replaced it?? and you may also try to restore your ipod and update to the latest software

  • IPod is full even though iTunes library is no where near iPod's capacity

My iTunes library contains 19.55GB of music. I automatically update my ipod, so that the files are the same in iTunes and my iPod, yet the iPod has 27.69GBs on it. I have no additional files stored on my iPod. Does iTunes include the space of album art when calculating the size of the library? In other words, could this be album art taking up space on my iPod that isn't accounted for in iTunes? Or is it something else?

    Hey Bean,
A few things you may want to know/try...............
    1.The iPod's capacity is 27.80GB(Mac) & 27.69 (PC). The 2.5 Gigs missing are for the iPod's OS.
2.Album art is included in the iD3 tags attached to each track. However, when you add album art, it does make the track a fraction bigger (but you won't see the increase). Unless you are using RAW photos which are HUGE/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png/___sbsstatic_ __/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
3.As WinDoze doesn't see the iPod nativley, it opens it like a generic USB device. It knows it's an iPod because you have iTunes installed. because of this you may find that there are hidden files on your iPod (usually drivers for other USB devices). These can just be deleted by showing hidden files.
4.If that is not the case, Restore the iPod using the 'iPod Updater' (latest version free on Apple.com/support/ipod). This will wipe the iPod and re-write the iPod's OSwith the updated software.
Once you've done that put the iPod into manual update and transfer the songs (you can put it back to auto-update afterwards).
5.If you sync your photos to the iPod, you can have the full file coppied over, uncheck this as they take up a lot more space than the thumbnails.
    hope they help?

  • Battery Capacity Question

This morning my battery capacity was at 48% after I calibrated it over night due to the system profiler telling me to "check battery." After using my computer for a little while without it being plugged in, my battery was down to about 45min remaining for power. Then I closed the lid and put it to sleep. After about an hour I opened it and immediately the message popped up saying that my computer was running on reserve power and I should plug it in. Now, my current battery capacity is at 26%.
Does anyone know why this has happened? Should I just get a new battery?
    Thanks!

It means that you most likely need a new battery. If your computer is still under warranty then bring it there. If it's out of warranty, then you might have to pay. If your battery has less than 300 charge cycles then you can ask if they are willing to replace it for free or a minimal charge since Apple said their battery should held 80% life after 300 cycles.

  • How do i get a shipping box for out-of-warranty ipod battery replacement?

i have signed up online to have my ipod battery replaced. the pod is out of warranty. the email reply only tells me to pack it well because apple won't deal with it if it is damaged in shipment. the only instructions i have found in my search at the apple site seem to deal with apple automatically sending the shipping package for in-warranty pods.
    can anyone help?

Usually, it takes about a week from the moment you
request the box till you have the iPod back.
gee, apple acknowledged my request for a replacement on 0905, but i don't have a box yet.
i called my apple store, and they also said that apple would send me a box.
i just noticed that you said "from the moment you request the box." how do i request a box? i have only "ordered" the replacement battery -- apple terms it an "apple product replacement request."
i guess i am impatient, but i'm beginning to feel that i am in the middle of a kafka novel.
