IPod Battery Dies if i don't put Hold on

IS this something wrong? Everytime i forget to put the hold on when i'm not using it the battery dies. My friend has the same exact type of iPod i have and doesn't have to do this. Is something wrong with my battery and i need to replace my iPod?

The first thing to do is to reset the ipod, then restore the ipod if reset did not work. This would determine if the issue was a software or hardware issue.

If the restore does not work then it is a hardware issue and the ipod needs to be serviced. You can go to the following link to set the ipod up for service.

  • Ipod battery dies fast

My ipod touch dies very fast. Anyone got any fixes?

Hey Tgradd, what do you mean by dies very fast? It's very subjective, do you have usage rates or times to work with? After a full 4 hour charge here are some times you can use to comparing with, to help you decide if you have a issue. It what my iPod 5 using iOS 7.1.1 averages-- I do use some of the power saving tips given by Apple and Cnet. Standby 36 to 40 hours, watching video, browsing the net, using Wi-Fi, 4 to 7 hours-- depending on video time, if viewing in HD and Wi-Fi signal strength. Gaming 3 to 4 hours. Taking photos / video about 40 to 60 pictures depending on light and flash use / about 1 to 1 1/2 hours for taking video.
If your getting something less, have tried a different cable and/or a different charging device? You may have a short and are not fully charging. Have you tried resetting? Press and hold both power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds+/-, then release both buttons. If still no joy, go into Settings> General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, connect with your iPod and make backups of your stuff from the iPod to your computer, then Restore from Backup. Last resort Restore to New. If battery issue continues contact Apple, set up an appointment and have your iPod evaluated for possible hardware issues. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

  • What happens with video ipod battery dies?

I read that the battery in the video ipod is stuck to some parts inside the video ipod so when it dies there is no way to replace it. Does Apple offer any exchange program or battery replacement for video ipod batteries and how much are they?

Don't know where you read that, but the battery is replaceable in the iPod 5th gen (video) just like any other model.
This can be done by Apple or 3rd party battery replacement sites.
If an iPod is under warranty, then the battery replacement is free (except after the first 6 months of the warranty has expired there is a shipping fee).
If an iPod is out of warranty, Apple charges $59 + $6.95 shipping.
As I said earlier, there are 3rd party alternatives that are usually cheaper.
If you have the iPod video model, then it's under warranty, so if you're having battery problems, fill out a service request.

  • IPod battery dies WHILE it is plugged into USB (highspeed 2.0) port

Hello thank you for your interest in my question, I apologize for the length but it's a very frustrating problem.
I am translating this question for my sister:
My 4th generation iPod was given to me as a gift this past December (2005) I believe it was purchased in September because that is when the warranty expires. The iPod worked fine for the previous owner using it with a Windows machine. Not knowing whether or not it will work with my iBook with or without formatting, I plugged it in and found that it came right up and I was able to put my music library on it.
I used it normally for the first time until the battery became low, so I plugged it into my USB port to charge. After a few hours I came back to find my battery completely drained and the iPod unresponsive/dead. I switched USB ports and let it sit for a couple of hours, nothing. I switched USB cables using one from another brand new/working iPod, nothing. I tried a different computer, one with a high-speed USB 2.0 port again leaving it plugged in for at least 4 hours, nothing.
Obviously something was wrong, so I filed a report and Apple sent a DHL box to mail it back. An iPod came back, unfortunately I'm not sure if it's the same one (I didn't follow the repair status or keep track of the serial numbers) it was restored to it's factory defaults and turned on right away.
SO round #2, I plugged it directly into my iBook and started to import songs onto it--this time I was there when it happened. It beeped at me and said something on the screen about the battery not having a sufficient charge and it went from the "do not un-plug/charging" screen to a big battery with a lightning bolt next to it. My iBook gave me a notice that the iPod was improperly disconnected. 30 minutes later the iPod had a blank screen (while still plugged in) and I went through the same troubleshooting I did before (switching cables/computers).
I sent it back to Apple and this time I followed the repair status. To my surprise, they found nothing wrong with it and sent the exact same iPod back. When I got it back the iPod did indeed turn on so I plugged it into the back of my brand new iMac Intel Core Duo, imported songs and tried to see if they would play. They did, but the battery was almost dead so I plugged it back in and left it charge for over 3 hours. I unplugged it and checked the stats.. it was nearly dead still, so I plugged it in again and very quickly (10 minutes) the icon changed from "charging" to full. I unplugged it to check the charge... and it was still nearly dead. Extremely frustrated at this point, I gave it to my friend with an older iMac (but with the latest iPod software installed) after plugging it in and leaving it alone for maybe an hour it beeped, when to the black and white battery and finally went blank/dead for the third time.
I'm desperate, right now it is plugged into a Windows PC to see if that will work and considering the iPod is still cold to the touch and wont respond.. it doesn't look good. Can anyone, after reading all of this, suggest anything? I'm probably going to be making an appointment at a genius bar but before I do, I'd like to see if anyone here might have some suggestions.
Please keep in mind, that the iPod is completely dead and will not charge or be recognized by any computer I plug it into. So I can't really restore or do many other basic troubleshooting. I have no idea how it turned on after sending it in for support.. but if anyone notices something I'm doing wrong, that might help.
    Thank you.

Have you tried connecting the iPod to different USB ports and/or another computer?
You can also take a look at this website, which may help figure out what's wrong with your iPod.

Finally, if your iPod is less than a year old, you can send it to Apple for replacement.

  • My ipod battery dies pretty quick?

I had this thing since day one meaning i got this when it first came out. Wheni had it the battery never died so quickly and like now it does. Although i do skate alot and i take it with me and of course i've fallen alot on it and it still plays like a champ but dies quick. Do i need a new battery?? and if so how much do they cost?? Thanks

Maybe you should start your own thread.
You have a 1st Generation iPod that is just over 3 months old? How did you accomplish that?
You have called AppleCare? Visited a Genius Bar at an Apple Store?

    Restored your iPod in iTunes?
How are you charging your iPod? What are you running on it that it dies in an hour?

  • Ipod battery dies as soon as i turn a movie on for only 2 minutes.

  • I use my 7th gen ipod on bluetooth and when the battery dies while on bluetooth it wont turn on or charge and the computer doesnt find it.  This is my 2nd nano in just over a month.  The first one had the same problem.  how can i fix this?

I have the latest ipod nano (7th gen, 16gb) and I use it mostly on bluetooth. When the battery dies during use with the Bluetooth it doesn't take a charge, the battery doesn't turn on and of course the computer doesn't even acknowledge that it's plugged in. This is my second nano in just over a month, the same thing happen with the first one. I just want to know if their is a way to fix this so I don't have to keep sending it in? Or maybe pay the difference to upgrade to a touch?

If the battery has been completely depleted on the Nano (not really a good idea) then it is going to take 15 to 30 minutes before your computer can see it. Same thing will happen with an iPod Touch.

  • Ipod mini battery dies

my iPod mini's battery dies within 10 minutes. I'll charge it overnight and still only around ten minutes. I got the speakers but that charger doesnt work either. I don't know what to do.

    hey,
i just changed my ipod mini's battery because of the same problem (10 hour charge to a 5 minute life span) . it appears to me that the new battery (more ampage than the original) provides no improvement whatsoever, in fact, worsened the lifespan!
If I leave my ipod switched off with the hold on, it will reset it self and then half of the battery will go away..
    any reasons /???

  • IPod Nano battery dies after 2 days in Sleep

My iPod Nano is about 2 years old and is working great for the most part. When fully charged, I can listen to music for 6-8 hours before the battery dies. But, if the iPod is fully charged and not connected to my computer and put in sleep mode, the battery is fully depleted after about 1-2 days. Is this normal? I know that even in sleep mode, the iPod will draw some power from the battery, but I thought it would stay charged for longer than it is. Any suggestions?
I have checked that it is not getting awakened by any alarms. Do I need a new $59 battery?
    Thanks.

I agree with you on the wallsocket charging thing, it's a must have, really. The case is a different thing.
People would get stuck with a generic case, and not have one they liked. Now, you can buy whatever color/shape you want, without hassle.
The reason I got a white one: the earplhones, the radioremote and all other things are white. If black ones were included/available, I'd have gotten a black one.
Oh, and I have mine 1.5 months now, and am as happy as a clam. I used to have a portable CDplayer with MP3 capabilities, but it was HUGE. This fits in my shirt pocket, doesn't have any moving parts (no skipping when running), and is just about as cool as it can get.

  • IPod Nano v5 trouble - device blacks out anytime, doesn't work again until battery dies. What should I do?

I have this iPod nano v5 for about 2 years now, and since I bought it I had this tiny problem, which I managed to solve everytime, though it is annoying: the device has this awful "habit" to black out without any apparent reason (it doesn't receive blows nor it falls on the ground) and to not respond to any command (if I press any button, there's no reaction) until the battery dies (I usually have to wait 'til the battery dies, which oddly takes less time than if the device was just not being used - over the night, usually). Also this happens most often when the battery's full (or maybe it's bad luck?).
When I try to revive my iPod through connecting it to iTunes, it says that the device is corrupted (or something like that) and suggests something I don't remember (I don't try this for a while, since the inconclusive result) that works a while on the iPod and then says something like "Sorry, man, I can do nothing".
Have anyone had a similar issue and worked it out in a less time-requiring way? I'd appreciate any kind of help.
    Greetings~

First I would have returned the iPhone to Verizon the minute I discovered dust under the camera lens and had them replace it with a new on.
Second, the instant there was a problem with sending it in I would have used a telephone and called AppleCare and discussed the issue with them.
Do the pictures that are on the phone show any of the issues you claim are present?
Incidentally, you can do an out-of-warranty replacement of the iPhone for $269 USD, not $700.
But finally, I would call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service. Give them your service number and go over each of your complaints with them.

  • My new ipod touch battery dies fast? Could this be iOS 5.0.1?

I got my ipod touch 1 week ago and my battery dies so fast. 25 percent gone in 1 hour! I turn off all background apps, brightness is low, push notifications off, no emails and no gamecenter etc and it still dies at the same rate. And I just use safari and facebook and 25 percent gone in 1 hour What is wrong with my ipod touch and how do i fix this? I bought my ipod from amazon so idk what to do since i have a battery issue. Is this related to ios 5.0.1 or is it my battery? Which is most likely? My iPod Touch dies in like 4 hours light usage...

sorry that it took me so long to reply, try letting it charge over night. let me know if that works

  • Ipod freezes on syncing and won't unfreeze until battery dies

    hello,
my friend has an 80 gig ipod classic that freezes when she plugs it into her computer to sync it. when she unplugs the ipod, it says "corrupted" and is completely frozen. She has to wait until the battery dies and then charge it again to be able to use it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Have You tried the restart...when it freezes up. that might help. its two buttons Menu and the centre, press them at the same time...Try Restarting the ipod before you connect it other than that you might want to consult your closest apple store geek. There is a disk mode and try restarting then pressing Centre and Play/Pause button when it shows the apple sign might work. I had one that did that, but thats because i washed it in the washer machine three times. now it works great. but dont go do that. Or it may be your computer USB cable. just holla back if you still cant figure it out- oh and if you want to take it outta disk mode, just restart again. and it should work. other than that consult a geek.
But if you need some advise, it (ipod) might need to be restored and you can do that on your itunes. just click the ipod when it comes up and there should be a button that says "Restore". i hope she has all her music and movies on her hard drive.

  • What does that mean when your iPod only charges when you battery dies? (meaning: when my battery isn't dead it wont charge but when the battery is dead thats the only time it will charge)

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
