IPod bluetooth audio lagging video?

Hi,
I'm new to Bluetooth. I have an iPod Classic 160GB with Motorola S9 head set and Sony TMR-BT8iP Transmitter for the iPod. I like the set up except that when playing videos there seems to be a short lag in the audio signal that is not there with cabled head phones. Is this inherent with Bluetooth or is it one of the components not functioning properly?
Any suggestions or insights appreciated.

I also experience this problem and watch a lot of video while traveling. Right now I keep my Sony DRBT50 in my drawer and use a corded headset because I can not deal with the delay.
I was planning on getting an iPad to get a bigger screen for video for my travels, but will probably hold off until this problem is fixed. I imagine it will be a problem there as well.
If anyone else is having the lag problem, please post so Apple can see its an issue that is important to us. I am actually disappointed that the post that tparry refers to was archived.

  • Ipod Plays audio but video is tiny

I have a video that I edited in Final Cut Pro and exported as a .4v file. When I transfer it to my 80 gig Ipod it plays the audio but the video is extremely small on screen. I transfered to a 60 gig Ipod and it played fine.
    Any Thoughts?

Try not using Final Cut Pro. If you need to use it, export it as mp4 not 4v. After doing that, play the video in iTunes (in a separate window). Is there a black space around the edges of the movie? If so, edit the movie to not have those black spaces.

  • 5G iPod Audio and Video not in Sync

I bought an iPod 30 GB a couple of days before. I was trying to download a movie to it which is in MP4 format. The original movie was in AVI format and I used Videora iPod converter to convert AVI -> MP4, but when I try to view the movie in my iPod the Audio and Video are not in Sync at al. The audio is way ahead of the video. Please someone let me know how to fix this problem. I turned off Equalizer and all other fancy settings in the iPod but it still didn't help.

some encoders have this problem occasionally. I've seen it very frequently in ffmpex when the source is avi. not sure what you're using, but so I'd suggest you try a different software. I'm getting very good results out of handbrake or 42.

  • Audio and video out of sync after converting to mp4

I've tried 3 converters (ImToo, Xilisoft, and Videora) and for 2 videos I really want on my ipod, the audio and video are offset. Infact, on Xilisoft, one wouldn't even convert (to anything ------as both are WMV and I thought that might be a problem--but I found I had another WMV that had the audio matching the video fine). For the other vid., I tried on Xilisoft making it an AVI first, but that AVI also had messed up audio/video
This is a really broad question, but what can I do and what programs can I try to get the videos to convert properly??
(I've tried uploading the wmvs to itunes to have itunes "convery for ipod", but they wouldn't even upload to itunes)

I have also had similar problems. Unfortunatly i have yet to discover a program that works perfectly. Just keep searching is really all i have to say. However if you do find it, could u please post it

  • My ipod touch 4th gen won't pair with bluetooth audio receiver?

My ipod touch 4th gen won't pair with my aluratech istream universal bluetooth audio receiver.  It automatically paired the first time I used it, but now will not pair.  I removed the bluetooth receiver from the ipod because it kept saying make sure the receiver device is on and within range.  Now it doesn't even detect the bluetooth receiver.  Any ideas?

Thank you!  We got the bluetooth receiver to use with our car stereo and our motorcycle stereo and were very frustrated when it quit working.  Thank you for helping me solve the problem!

After recent upgrade to Yosemite on Macbook air bluetooth audio cuts out and associated video stops with audio. Likewise with airplay and Apple TV. I have deleted all my saved wifi connections and restarted numerous times. I do not expect a resolution from the community, but hope to get the attention of Apple engineers. If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
    • restart Apple TV
    • restart Macbook Pro
    • quite iTunes/open
    • turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
    • unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

  • Bluetooth audio not in sync with video on iPad 2 with iOS 6

I noticed that after I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 6, there was a problem with I use my A2DP Bluetooth headset (Jabra Halo) with my iPad 2. The audio is no longer in sync with the video playback! And it's really annoying. This problem does not exist when I plug in a headset to the iPad.
Is anyone else facing this issue? I only has one bluetooth headset so I'm not sure if this is a problem with my Jabra Halo headset or the iOS 6. This used to work without any issues with iOS 5.

    Hi mynew:
    Welcome to discussions!
Did you make the video in imovie and send it to iDVD?
Read this and fill in iMovie 6 where iMovie 3 is..

  • Problems watching movies on iTunes -- lagging video, distorted audio

Hello. I have a black MacBook running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) and iTunes 9.0.2, and I'm having some problems. It's been going on for a few weeks now, and is worse some days than others, but the overall trend has been downward, so I wanted to try to get some help before it gets any worse.
The problem occurs when I try to watch movies on iTunes. I haven't had any problems with any other aspect of iTunes, although I don't really use any other aspects of iTunes at the moment besides the iTunes Store (I don't listen to music through iTunes or anything). Anyways, here's the problem:
Sometimes, when I'm watching a movie on iTunes, it will randomly (or seemingly randomly) glitch on me. I use the general term "glitch" here because the problem can manifest itself in one of a few different ways:
1.) The picture will freeze for a quick moment (less than a second usually) and skip forward real quick to catch up, and then sometimes, after it does this, it will go back to normal and keep playing the movie correctly. Other times after it does this, however, it will continue playing the movie, but with lagging video. When I say "lagging video", I mean that the video is slowed down, as if in slow motion. The audio remains normal. This only seems to happen in full screen mode (although I don't really watch movies any other way), so when it happens, I can generally hit escape to go back to regular viewing mode and it will fix itself, although sometimes I have to quit out of iTunes and reopen it.
2.) On rare occasions, instead of the video lagging problem, the picture will freeze all together, and if I recall correctly, the application always freezes with it.
3.) Less commonly than the video problem, the audio will become distorted. This usually occurs separately from the video issue, but can occur simultaneously as well. When this happens, the audio gets really scratchy and distorted, as if it was being filtered through a low quality children's boom box microphone. iek the video problem, this problem occurs randomly in the middle of watching the movie, but unlike the video problem, this problem persists after I quit out of iTunes. Quitting iTunes does not fix the problem in this case, unlike with the video lagging. When I quit iTunes, the distorted audio remains an issue an any application I use, and I have to wait awhile for it to go away on its own. So, unlike the video lagging, this audio issue seems to exist outside of iTunes, although it always starts with iTunes.
Can anyone help me figure out what is going on here? I've looked for patterns in other applications that are open during the times these problems occur, but haven't found any. I do have Norton AntiVirus installed on my computer, and I did notice awhile ago that any time I try to watch a movie on iTunes while I have a virus scan going on, I always get a glitch on iTunes, so I stopped running those two applications at the same time a long time ago, but I still have the problem. Should I try reinstalling iTunes? If I do this, will I lose any of the music or movies or apps that are in iTunes? I would assume not, but I just want to make sure I don't need to back anything up if I want to reinstall iTunes.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Not sure why this question is labeled as "answered" since there are no answers in the thread?
I'm having the same issue with the extremely distorted audio track on itunes video. It's worst on the speech, which is hard to hear, garbled, a lot of scratchy noise overtop of it; the music tracks are somewhat better (and much much louder). This started a bit ago and was intermittent at first, now very bad, can;t get rid of it.
I have a lot of itunes video, and since it is all protected, to my knowledge it is not playable through any other player... so this is a real problem. Reinstalling itunes (9.2.1) did not help. Sometimes VLC also distorts sound (on other video), more often that's fine but itunes is not.
I would love to have a solution to this-- my video library is not much use.

  • My ipod touch 4g audio and video is totally not working. Updated the ipod with the latest version and also tried to restore it several times and that didnot work. Sound system is totally not working. plzzzz help..

My ipod touch stopped playing videos and music for the past three days rest all are working fine.
I doubt the sound system is gone. i tried restoring it several times. I havent mishandled it. Few days back there was audio distortion and slowness so i upgraded to the iOS 5 but the audio/ video doesnt work.  Alerts ,sounds ... donot work..Please help me out...

Try a restore to factory defaults/new iPod.  If still problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • No audio on video ipod

I have the ffmpeg software but the file wont copy over to the ipod in h.246 i think it is. so then i bought quicktime pro and now i have no auidio.... wat a nightmare. do u have any suggestions

QTime Pro and ffmpegX can only address the video aspect of what I assume is a "muxed" MPEG clip you wish to convert for iPod use. These applications require a 2-step conversion process in which you first convert the video to an intermediate format with combined separate audio and video data streams and then convert the intermediate file format to a final iPod compatible file. Since you already have QT Pro and ffmpegX, suggest you simply add MPEG StreamClip to handle the audio. There are probably a number of discussions to which you can refer for use of this software.
Also be aware that there are several applications (including Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus, Export2QT, MPEG2 Works 4, etc) which will perform this entire double conversion process as a seamless workflow process. Most such apps run from $15-$25. Each has its own pros and cons and may handle slightly differing file formats.
