Ipod bricked after playing through speaker dock

Hello,
Both mine and a friend's ipod nanos (latest model) have stopped working completely after being put into a little speaker dock. Its strange because we have used those speakers succesfully loads before.
Both are just black screens, don't respond to the menu and centre reset or being plugged into a mac.
Any suggestions?

There is something wrong with the new ipods. They don't charge in certain docking stations like the Bose System. Mine wouldn't at least, and I have read other threads here regarding the same thing. I also had used a friends wall charger, it wasn't an apple product, but it had worked on his 80gig ipod classic and still does. It charged my ipod 4th gen, but very weakly, and it wouldn't hold a charge for very long. By the time I got home it was dead, completely. Hooked it up to the macbook and it was still dead. It wouldn't even show up on the mac.
After reading about the apparent problems with this product, and going through apple's phone menu bullsh*t, I said f*ck it. I took it back to Costco. They have a 90 day return policy, no problem. Got a full refund.

hiya i have an ipod touch. aout a week ago it stopped working with my docking station. it wont play through the docking station speakers. ive tried two other ipods on the station and they work fine so its clearly a problem with my ipod. the ipod registers that its plugged into a charging source and starts playing music when its plugged in but through its own speakers rather then the docking station. i've tried doing a full factory reset and that didnt work. does anybody have any suggestions?

HT1665 I have recently purchased a sony docking station and my ipod touch wont play through speakers. does anyone know why

I cant get my ipod touch to play through a docking station I have recently purchased. A second ipod touch works fine. Can anyone tell me why it wont play through speakers?

What model iPod and iOS works and which does not?
Sometimes a 4G iPod will not fully sead in the dock because its case configuration is different that previous models.
Also, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility.
Have you checked the dock manufactuer's support stie for compatibility?

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

Running iOS 7 voicemails will only play through speaker option

Received a sensitive voicemail. Tried playing it back through the earpiece on the device. The OS indicated that the audio was playing but no sound was coming out of the earpiece on the device. I proceeded to select the speaker option then hit play in the audio played through the speakers. I then on selected the speaker option plug in my headphones hit play and the audio came in through my headphones. I've already tried restarting my device I am running an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 the latest version. Any solutions or recommendations?

I have the problem with iphone 4s ios 7.0.4 voicemail play through speaker only. after follow steps below I got it back from play on and off on speaker.
The Apple Store advised Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Contact the manufacturer of the motocycle system. Many systems are not compatible with iOS devices but work fine for the simple iPods.

Yes the manufacturer (Philips) says that the device (CD player with a docking station) should work with my IPod+iOS 6.2.1; we've updated the Ipod to iOS 6.2.1.
We've bought the device this week, so I assume the firmware is up-to-date...
My Ipod also does not work on another device with Apple-docking station, whereas other Ipods do connect with my new Philips device. I think it is pretty clear that my Ipod is the problem?

Ipod touch only plays through one speaker when docked to car

It was working fine yesterday until I restored my touch and now this morning only plays through the left speaker. Ive read other topics with people that have this problem but no answer that fixes the problem.
I have a 8g touch and an alpine system in my car. The cord is fine because my old video works perfectly and the touch has no problem connecting to the computer.

hmmm sounds like a could be either a faulty connection in your alpine, or the ipod touch has a problem sending the signal through the USB Pin look into google search for this kind of problem, but I would try another cable or a new usb cable. either way it could be the connection to the audio pin section of the usb connector of your alpine.

IPT4 doesnt play through INTEMPO dock while an old ipod does. sound comes from ipod speaker only. why not thru dock speakers?

My old iPod works fine in an INTEMPO dock. My new iPod touch 4 will only play in the dock thru its own speaker and there is also a 'not charging' message.
Is the dock not up to handling my iPod Touch4?

Two possible reasons:
- The configuration of the 4G iPod prevents the iPod from fully seating in some older docks, those not deisgned for ohe 4G.
- Some docks are not compatible with the later iOSs

- next, to rule out a software probem:

If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. It is liklely a problem with the headphone jack i the iPod. There are third-party places that will replace he jack.

Ipod touch only plays through left headphone/speaker

my ipod touch first gen recently started only working through my left headphone, at first i thought it was the headphones but then i tried it with numerous other headphones and speakers etc and it still only plays through one.
I've reset, restored the ipod and tried everything if any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if my itouch is 2 months out of warranty? I don't think it's reasonable to ask me to purchase a new one for a headphone jack problem. I expect a 300.00 piece of electronics to last more than 14 months, call me crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion other than replace? The Apple Store in Orlando told me it would cost about the same as a new one to fix it. Please help!

Ipod won't play through headphones anymore... and I JUST bought it!

I just bought my 5th Gen. ipod nano a week ago and was working fine. After I had used it on my ihome docking station, it won't play through my headphones anymore.... I use the ear buds that came with it- all the player does is imediatly play through the speaker- is there a setting or something where I can hear through the ear buds? I know I have the earbuds pushed into the jack all the way, I can actually hear some music in the earbuds (just not very loud). What can I do?

Sorry, allow me to ask you a question, have you tried to increase the volume of the iPod, if Yes, then bring it for service ... it is a hardware issue

IPod Touch not working with speaker dock

At the moment I've been having problems with my speaker dock. Its a Goodmans clock radio and I've always been able to play my music from my touch through it. Yesterday I tried it but now no music comes from the actual speakers. I assumed it might be a bad connector on my touch but it's still charging perfectly by being in the dock so it can't be that. I also tried it on another speaker dock of a different make in case that was a problem but again there's no sound coming through the speakers just throught the actual ipod. Is there any way I could have accidently changed the settings on my ipod or is anyone else getting this problem ?

I'm having a similar issue with my iPod Touch (4th Generation). I place it on my old Apple dock (bought in 2007) and it can only charge/update. 4g Ipod bricked after 1-10?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before but it seems like there are a ton of problems with the 1-10 update. If at all possible though any response to my question would be greatly appreciated.
The story:
I have a 4g ipod with click wheel. I applied the 1-10 update and my ipod worked great. Within the past week my ipod had sometimes become unresponsive when trying to play some music. I simply reset it when that happened. Yesterday I noticed some problems with my windows pc freezing when pluging it in. I decided that maybe a restore was in order. I connected the ipod hit restore, it told me to connect to the wall outlet, it looked as though everthing was going fine but nothing happened.
Now I see the black apple logo and I hear a slight clicking sound as though the hd is trying to access somthing. The screen also flashes every once in a while to the sad ipod icon (which is very depressing). The ipod will reset but wont mount and will not go into disk mode.
Is my ipod bricked? Please tell me it's not! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yea it seems a lot of people (aka me) 'bricked' our iPods with the 1-10. Mine 'works' but songs don't show up anywhere. I've tried almost everything, even reformatting in Linux with luck yet to show its face. Stopped working right after the 6.02 / 1-10 update....
we'll see if Apple ever fesses up
