IPod Buttons not working - Solved
I have a 60G iPod that wasn't working and I resolved it. I don't know what generation iPod I have but I bought it in 2005. Anyways I was recently having issues where the buttons just weren't responding no matter what I did, it was just unusable. I couldn't play music adjust the volume or even reset it. I solved my problem by plugging it in to charge, toggled the lock button and then the buttons worked. I reset it (menu center for about 10 secs.) I was on this forum looking for an answer and couldn't find one. I just hope this helps someone else.
Thanks,

Draging library music to ipod button- NOT WORKING
Hi, I am updating music manually...which I want to do. When I copy songs from my library to my ipod, by draging to my ipod button, it doesnt go into my itunes library and on to my computer. does anyone know whats wrong?
You can select the exact content that you sync to your iPod every time that you sync if you want to do so.
When the iPod is connected to the computer, launch iTunes and select your iPod under the devices heading on the left side of the iTunes window. Click on the Summary tab and select Syncs On,y Checked Songs and Videos - I can't remember the exact wording but you will see it in the options. Then click on the Music Tab. Select the albums, songs, playlist - Howe evr you arrange your music - and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.

IPod buttons not working/battery discharges very quickly
I have a 2GB iPod Nano. It was working fine until yesterday when suddenly the buttons and the click wheel stopped working. Only the hold switch works now. I was using the stopwatch at that time. Not only this but the battery doesn't even last over 10 minutes anymore, even though the ipod is in sleep mode and I'm not using it (because the buttons won't do anything!), whereas the battery would easily last a whole day at least before this weird button problem. It also connects to the computer with a lot of difficulty. Every time I plug it in, the Apple logo comes up and then the screen just gets stuck. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in several times before the computer will finally detect it.
I've restored it but to no avail.
Can anyone please help me out here? The Ion Hub charger has been successful in a couple of cases - but no guarantee. For a lower cost approach:
= Reset by pressing Play and Menu at the same time - the standard first step.

Hello!
I purchased an iPod back in 2002, one of the original 20GB iPods w/ four buttons and a touch-wheel. It had been working wonderfully until late last year when the battery completely died. I had the battery replaced soon after and it had been working wonderfully ever since.
However, recently I have been unable to do anything with it. I can connect it to the computer and use it fine. It keeps a great charge and turns on promptly. However, once I get the 'Menu' screen, I can't do anything. The buttons don't work and the click-wheel doesn't scroll. The hold button is off and it still doesn't work. With the hold button on, I can see the little icon, but there is no change; none of the buttons work. Because of this reason, I haven't been able to turn it off promptly, so it just goes off on it's power-saving mode... only to be turned on by switching the hold button on/off.
I was wondering if this is a common problem. Obviously I have to take it to get it fixed but I was inquiring as to whether it was fix-able. A connection might have come loose or a wire might have been fried (I'm just guessing here). Can this problem be fixed?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Carolyn

I tried updating my iPod, and ever since it has not worked at all. If I hold in the lock & home button, it will tell me to plug it into iTunes. Once I do that, it says it will restore but every time, restoring it fails. My iPod is not working at all, and I really have no idea what to do. It is just a black screen, and occasionally the white apple will appear as if it were turning on, but it won't turn on. I just need some suggestions on what to do!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Ipod 4th gen volume buttons not working. Volume bar not showing in music or video apps, not a speaker problem as this works fine when testing built in alarm tones???
Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store is in order. -

I have an iPod 5th Generation and the home button is jammed down! It felt sticky earlier but now it's stuck down. I used it when the home button wasn't working and had to use my notifications to change from app to app (as I didn't know about assistive touch). I turned it off, but now the power button is no longer responsive! The button isn't stuck, but it doesn't work anymore. It was working fine before, but now it won't respond. Please help!

Hi
I have an iPod touch 4th generation and the home button isn't working. It's not the normal issue where it's stuck, or it won't function because you can't press it. The home button on my iPod is visible, as in the black button has been removed and I can see the tiny circular home button, (if you've ever seen the inside the iPod). When I press the tiny circular button, it doesn't work. Circuitry issues, maybe? If anyone could help, I'd be so grateful.

The home button of my iPod is not working and it got 1 year of warranty and going to Apple store, my iPod is silver color. if they give me a new one can I pick another color ?
No, they will give you a refurbished (but basically a brand-new) iPod touch in the same color. I have the Silver as well...sort of kicking myself for not waiting for the Blue one to come back in stock.
