Ipod can't be seen!!!

I ejected my ipod form i tunes and turned it on to listen to song but I got the error light.
I plugged it back on my mac but it's flashing orange and no icon can be seen on my desktop nor on itunes...what's wrong?!?
I can't even reset it or restore shuffle it coz my mac can't see it...
I'm downloading the latest updater version, hope it works with that one...
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!

More info on this problem. My shuffle worked fine for 2 months, then my pc would not recognise it, only indication was a flashing green light. I tried the shuffle in my lap top and it works fine. I then downloaded the 2006-01-10 update, and updated the shuffle via the USB port on the laptop. I then returned the shuffle to the original PC and still the same problem - flashing green light and not recognised. I'm not an expert but could this be a driver thing???

  • IPods can't be seen my iTunes on os x (but do show up in finder)

Hi all, wonder if someone can help me out.
I have two ipods an old classic and a new nano. When I plug them into my imac (os x 10.7.4) they will show up in finder but not in iTunes.
I also have an ipad and an iphone and those ones will show up just fine in itunes (both wired and wirelessly)
I know theres no problem with the cables and ports because they work with the other devices. I also know the ipods are fine because they will show up in itunes on my macbook air (also running os x 10.7.4.)
I have restarted the computer, the ipods and made sure to run software update to make sure everything is up to date.
Im out of ideas and right now I cant add music to my ipods which is really annoying.
    Anyone know of a solution?
    Thanks in advance...

    A tough one...
Next thing would be to repair permissions on your hard drive.
On the Finder menu bar, Click Go > Utilities
    Open Disk Utility.
On the left bar, click on your hard drive. There will be a drive aligned all the way left, and then your hard drive name indented slightly. Click on the indented drive.
On the First Aid tab, click Repair Disk Permissions.
This process could take a while depending on many different factors. Usually it takes no longer than 30 minutes but could take longer if there are a lot of permission errors.
Restart your Mac after this. Also uncheck the "restore windows from last session".
If this still doesn't work, go to any apple store with your sync cable and see if your iPod will mount on any of the Macs on display in iTunes. If an employee comes up to you, I always play stupid and say that you are trying to get the iPod to appear in iTunes because you can't at home. (Playing stupid is so much fun)
If your Nano is less than 90 days old, you should have free phone support too.
    One last thing:
    Download iRip from here: http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/
iRip is a recovery tool that lets you copy content from an iPod to your computer without iTunes. (Saved me many times over)
You can download this application for free. Close and Quit iTunes and plug your iPod in. Open iRip. Click manual recovery. If iRip detects your iPod and you can see all your content, then something is really wrong here. If iRip can't detect your iPod then there is probably damage to the 30-pin connector and/or hard drive damage since iPod classic use a spinning hard drive.
Note: iRip will transfer 100 tracks for free from your iPod and can be used to save your music collection! Full version is like 20 bucks, totally worth it...
Our use here would be seeing if it mounts at all.

  • Two iPods can't be seen on my mac

This is seriously messed up. I have two 2nd Gen Classic 40 gig iPods, I just bought the 2nd one last week because mine will not be recognized by my mac. I've followed the 5 R's and none of them work... I've purchased multiple connector ports both Firewire and USB, I've tried everything, I've even called Apple and they cound't help me, they thought there was a problem with the 1st iPod. I seriously need some assistance.... basically I tried the 5 R's and my mac still doesn't see my iPods

What exactly are you doing when you get that alert?

  • Ipod can be seen by Windows 7, but not seen by Itunes.

Hi - A friend has a Dell laptop running Windows 7.  It was recently in the shop to remove a virus.  Everything now works fine, except it won't work with any of her ipods.  The ipods can be seen under Devices and Printers, and by the Device Manager.  They aappear to be associated with the correct drivers.    But if I select to view the properties using Device Manager, the spinning wheel cursor appears, and the Device Manager.stops responding.  The laptop also will stall in the shutdown process, if the ipod is connected.  Disconnecting the ipod at that point, causes the laptop to finish shutting down.
I should mention that an ipad works fine with Itunes on the laptop.
I have reinstalled the Itunes drivers and software several times.  I've put the ipod into disk mode, also tried a different ipod cable, and neither helped.  I've run virus scans using different anti-virus software, but they don't find anything wrong.   I'm able to use the same ipods on a different Dell laptop that is also running Windows 7, so I don't think the ipods are a problem.
Nothing else on the laptop seems to be broken.  Everything else works.  Other USB devices work fine, so I don't think it's a USB issue.
The next step appears to be to reinstall the operating system.  But I would like to know if there is anything else worth trying before doing that.
    Thanks. - Mark

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Unless you have DRM still haunting your tunes ... Then you can only use those songs on 5 devices. Otherwise, connect as many as you like (as stated above).
No, you can sync your DRM tracks to an unlimited number of iPods (but only authorized to play on 5 different computers/user accounts)

So I can sync two iPods to my iTunes account and sync the same digital copy movies that come with some o' my DVDs to both ipods? Do movies make a difference really, DRM-Wise? Thanks in advance.

  • IPod can't sync with iTunes please help

I have an iPod, forget what gen but its got a click wheel and was the one right before the iPod photo. Anyway I recently added about 150 songs to my iTunes (ver. 7.2). I plugged in my iPod and I got the error message "The iPod can not be synced. The required file can not be found." I don't know what this means and don't even know where to begin to fix it. (clicked check for updates on my iPod page and it claimed to be up to date ver. 3.1 I believe)
any help would be appreciated.. thanks
also just got another error message saying "The ipod could not be synced. the disk could not be read from or written to."

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod

  • How many iPods can sync with One iTunes account?

How many iPods can one sync with an iTunes account ? I have searched the net and there are many different posts but none conclusive. So was wondering if anyone here had a clear idea on that.
    Thanks in advance,
    -TRS

But how many ipod can I sync with only one iunes store account?
    None.
iPod don't sync with an iTunes account.
iPods sync with iTunes on a computer.
You can have 5 computers authorized to play songs/movies from one iTunes account.
Each computer can have 5 iTunes accounts authorized.
An iPod can have music/movies from 5 different iTunes accounts.
Note that this only applies to iTunes purchases with DRM, which is movies, tv shows and older iTunes music. All music now purcahsed is DRM free.
