IPod can't be updated

everytime i attempt to sync photos to my ipod i get this alert box: "The iPod cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to."
ive tried syncing through Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 and through my disk drives. music transfers fine, i just can't get any photos on there. help please?

Had the same problem!
Try setting the ipod in disk mode first (hold menu & select until the apple appears, then release and immediately hold select & play/pause).
I checked the enable disk use, the set the synch location to photoshop and it finally updated/uploaded my photos.
Frustrated but determined!
Apple could really do better with help/instructions/tutorials/answers to posts...

When I put my iPod in a window comes up saying, "Songs on the iPod "Alaina's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating do not exist" . All of my playlists are still there, and there are no songs on my iPod anymore... Can anyone help?

Use the instructions in this article to change the iPod's synchronization mode to one of the other two options, or create a new playlist and add that to the list of playlists to sync to the iPod.

  • IPod can't be updated...not enough space hold selected playlists

My nano will not update automatically any more. Yes, there is enough space but the newest iTunes refuses to see it.
Also, the only sure way to get songs out of nano is to delete it manually. Even unchecking them does not work.
I regret upgrading to the latest iTunes.

  • IPod Nano Won't update, says playlists no longer exist,

I am really getting frustrated with my iPod nano. First it started off by not updating songs. Then it started to erase songs when i connected it to itunes. So i erased everything hoping that would fix it. But now when I try to put them back on the computer says iPod update complete but there are no songs. It also say that the iPod can't be updated because the playlists no longer exist.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem please respond as soon as possible.
    Thanks

Ok, first try a restore. Next, on the playlist issue...
Did you delete the playlists from iTunes? If so, then the iPod is trying to automatically update, but it can't, since the playlists no longer exist. Try putting your iPod into manually update; you can find that in the iPod Options tab.

  • IPod could not be updated because the file is corrupt.

iTunes refueses to update my iPod touch to 2.0.1. The download appears in the que as 1.5kb (which it certainly isn't), and then after downloading, a message tells me the iPod can't update because the firmware file is corrupt. It also says to reconnect and try again, but that doesn't do anything. HELLLPPP.

See if anything here helps: What to do if iPod can't be updated because
the firmware file was corrupt or not found
That was the answer. A very easy fix when you know what to do. Thank you for your help.

  • Corrupt iPod can not restore

For some reason my 5th Gen iPod has become corrupt.
When connected to iTunes I get a message to restore it which I have done several times.
Is there a file on my Mac that is also corrupt causing the iPod to be restored which continues to corrupt it?
Once I connected it to another Mac and gave it a different name it has behaved so far. If I change the name to what it had been the silliness starts all over again.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?
    Thanks,

  • Ipod classic won't update

the past few times I've connected my ipod to to itunes, it doesn't update. there's also no "update ipod" option under any menus. ***? anyone know why?

I have a different issue but my ipod classic won't update either, figure I'd post in the same topic.
I can download the software but once it extracts, an error message pops up saying my ipod can't be updated and a code (1462) is at the end of the message.
I have 1.1 and no previous issues with updating or with the ipod. I've tried rebooting it and no difference.
Any ideas why or what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPod can not update, playlists no longer exist

For some reason after downloading the newest version of iTunes (though it could have been from something I did) everytime I try to update my iPOD with the latest songs and playlists I get a message that reads "songs on the iPod XXXXX can not be updated because all of the playlists selected no longer exist."
Anyone have any idea what I did? I even reset my iPod and that did not help so I have a 60GIG iPod with no music.

This is what sometimes happens when you delete that special playlist that iTunes created for you:

When trying to restore and update my ipod touch it comes up with an error message saying: "The ipod can not be restored this device isnt eligible for the requested build" How do i fix this?

I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. I am running MAC OS 10.4.11  itunes v. 9.0   and I just want it to be restored. I need help.  Oh and its an 8 gb ipod touch.

  • Since I downloaded the new operating system to my iPod touch I can no longer update my Apps or download new ones.  My password is recognized but the download process is immediately interrupted when I touch update (all) or download.

Since I downloaded the new operating system (6.1.3) to my iPod touch I can no longer update my Apps or download and new Apps.  My password is recognized but when touching the update (all) button or download, the screen immediately reverts to the earlier screen and no updating or downloading occurs.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Sign Out of the Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • How do I sync my iPod now that they updated iTunes and I can no longer find anything!?

    I found > FILE > DEVICES > SYNC
But anything after devices doesn't work. It's light grey and not clickable...
    It won't sync automatically...
    [Aside...
Why can't they update in a way that makes things MORE user-friendly, not LESS :-(

    Does iTunes see the iPod?
    If not then:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    Or
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

When in DFU mode and connected to the computer iTunes does not say anything but iTunes will see the iPod and you can restore the iPod via iTunes. When in recovery mode and you connect, iTunes will say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
