Ipod can't read songs! I've tried eveything....

Ok, so yesterday I thought, hey, theres alot of old music on your Ipod and it crashes all the **** time (probably cause its a 18gig model with 400 mb free) so how about we wipe it clean and refill it?
So I go to Itunes, select my BobPod and delete all songs, afterwards happily filling it to 17 gig or so.
Next day, Ipod still works, in info it says there are 17gigs left (doesnt show how many songs though) but no music will be available, its not that they dont work, I cant bloody see em, I can open them via explorer, and play them without any problem.
So I reconnect to my PC, Itunes suddenly doesnt recognize it (well to be precise it says it cant read the data), Explorer works just fine though.
So after reading through about the whole **** FAQ and browsing half of this forum I decide that I may just need to format AKA restore the Ipod, so I try explorer, doesnt have access, I try the Ipod updater (Ipodinstaller.exe) and the only thing it wants to do is install and uninstall the saftware on the PC, which is, I think, not the factor causing the problem...
I downloaded the updater like 4 or 5 times now, even tried the old one i got with my Ipod but none of them gives me the ability to format or restore.
Please help me to get my Ipod working again, I think the problem is in the Ipod's firmware but as I explained Ipod Updater messes up.
HELP!!!
Thanks for reading in any case... I know I can be a bit overzealous on explaining but I wan't to make, what I know, crystal clear.
¬Bob

The usual cause of this is that the iPod software is not current.

  • IPod Touch 4g iOs 6.1.6 can't read song created with iPad2 iOs 7.0.6

hi , can you help me please?
trying to open a song on Garageband on the iPod touch, it asks me to update to a more recent version.
everything is already updated on both devices, what's happening?
thanks a lot to anyone could help how to proceed.
    marco

    marco,
On your iPad you have GarageBand 2.0 - it requires iOS 7.
On your iPod you have probably GarageBand version 1.4., and this is not compatible with your iPad version. GarageBand version 1.4 cannot open GarageBand version 2.0 projects.
You cannot update to the iPod touch to GarageBand 2.0, unless you can upgrade the system on the iPod to iOS 7, but i think your iPod cannot be updated to iOS 7 because of the memory - only 256 MB.
So there is no help for it , sorry.

  • Itunes can't read songs to sync. Every few songs Itunes stops the sync because it can't read the song.

When I sync my ipad or iphone, Itunes will start syncing but after every few songs it syncs, itunes interupts the sync with a message saying it can't read the song. I can go to that song in my list of music and play it in itunes but itunes can't read it to sync.  This has just started happening in the last week, 06/28/13.
Does anyone know what is going on.  The message is as follows: iTunes could not copy "such and such song" to the iphone because the file could not be read.
    rhpiper

I didn't understand what you mean. Most of the songs itunes flags are songs I have had on my list for a long time. I did notice something else. After it sends me the message and stops syncing. I press the apply button and it seams to save the song. Then I have to start resyncing and I noticed it syncs the song that it just previously couldn't read. The problem is I have to do this 50 times to get through a sync. Also, Itunes never stops on the same songs that it did the prior sync.

  • IPod shows -  Updating failed, Ipod can't read or be written to

This is on a MAC G5 w/ Tiger, and this is a 60G Ipod. My Ipod will download a few songs - depending on how "cold" it is - if I put in in the fridge for a little bit, then try a download it will take up to 20 - 40 songs before I get this message. After a while, it gets warm, then it doesn't download any at all, or just one or two after synching.
I have to go through a process of putting away the IPOD, disconnecting it, then reaaching it.
I've installed the latest ipod updater.
    what next?

    hiya!
i'm no expert on connecting to a Mac, but there are a few (Mac-relevant) things mentioned in this document that you don't explicitly mention having tried:
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod

  • Ipod does not recognize songs when unplugged from computer

My iPod shows all of my library songs when it is connected to the computer, and I am certain the files are physically on the iPod, because it can play songs when connected to iTunes that have been deleted from my hard drive (and I can see the actual files in the hidden iPod control folder), but when I unplug the iPod, i have no songs. I tried to reformat, but when the ipod formats, it never finishes, it just says 'waiting for iPod'. Using Windows XP, SP2.

I just fixed a similar problem with my iPod.
I didn't have any problems with my restore but I still couldn't see any songs on my iPod. ( Yes, I'm updated to the current firmware and 4.9 iTunes. )
The solution for me was to assign a letter drive to the iPod file system when it mounted ( i.e. not to let Windows pick one randomly ). If you have mapped network drives, you should consider doing likewise.
Check this out for more details:
Strange iPod behaviour when Windows confuses iPod with network drive
This article was suggested by James Bond 007 in a post entitled "Ipod v 2.3 vs. 2.2 problem with Updater 2005 -06-26".
You can tell it's got the letter drives confused because it creates an iPod_Control under one of your network drives and starts filling it up instead of your actual iPod ( hence no music when you disconnect ).

  • Can't read txt or pdf files?

I've been unsuccessfully trying to view these two most popular text files on my iPod touch. I thought that considering the size of the screen as well as ebook capability, formats like pdf and txt would surely be supported. Is it just me? Maybe I can't find the right option in the itunes or ipod itself, but itunes says ipod can't read this kind of file, while ipod's safari says it can't read the file when I try to download a .txt via Wi-Fi. What am I doing wrong? Do I need some additional software for this?

    I answered too soon!
I didn't read your question fully.
Your question should be: How do I get pdf and text files onto my iPod touch to read. I've tried iTunes and it does not work.
The answer I gave is correct and will solve your problem.
    - email it to yourself and read i Mail (not the best solution).
    - Download the free version of EverNote from the App store and download the version for your computer, Drag the txt or pdf into a new note in EverNote on your desktop and sync to the cloud (as they say) and open the EverNote app on your iPod and sync
    - Do the same with SugarSync or DropBox (you need desktop and iPod versions of both, both free)
    - text files can be put in memos in Outlook and synced with Notes on your iPod
There are other apps -- Phoneview, for example -- that will also help.
I'd use... wait. I DO use .. EverNote

  • Can't read UDP packets

Hi everyone. I'm triying to read the UDP packets that a board with a CPU and ethernet module is sending me via ethernet connection. In the board I've just implemented a static IP+UDP packet that only needs to change the data in order to send a temperature that the board measures. The packets are sent well and I can see them with a sniffer software like Wireshark like UDP packets with all the IP's, MACs and that stuff. The problem is that in Labview I'm not capable to read that data, even I can't read anything. I tried the UDP open + UDP read specifiying the destination port (40056 in my case).
    Any help please???
Although, I wanted to ask if the destination IP is strictly necessary if you specify the MAC adress.
    Thank you

  • I have a iPod nano 5th generation and there's a song I'm trying to play, but each time I click it from artist it just shows the songs name again. And when I try to click the song from the song list it just skips. How can I fix this?

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. I have tried restoring my iPod but the song still won't work I've also tried removing the song from the library and the putting it back on iTunes but still no luck. What do you guys suggest I do?

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

  • I have an iPod Classic and when I try to move songs from my library to my iPod, my iTunes freezes. When I tried to eject my iPod, nothing happened and I had to force quit iTunes. When I unplugged my iPod, all of my songs had been deleted. What can I do?

After attempting to move songs from my iTunes library to my iPod Classic, the pinwheel kept spinning and iTunes froze. I tried pressing CTRL E to eject the iPod, but nothing happened. I unplugged the iPod then force quit iTunes, but when I checked my iPod all of the songs had been deleted. I tried plugging the iPod back in and slowly moved music over again, but iTunes still froze. I don't want to restore it to factory settings because I am afraid of losing the pictures I have on there and can't figure out how to get them off.

    Are you using a Macbook?
If all your songs on the iPod are deleted, most likely the photios are gone too.
Unless you put the photos, via Diskmode.
To recover the photos that you've put in Diskmode, use Finder to locate where it is in the iPod.
Try also if iPhoto can locate those photos.

  • Can't read my Ipod Message? TRYING TO BE PATIENT! But..............

Hello Everyone - As my subject says, I am trying to be patient. I have a Ipod Classic, 160GB and I have been having quite a few problems with it and my computer over the last few weeks. I downloaded the most current version of Itunes last week and made some updates to songs today, so I tried to "sync" it. I literally walked away for 30 seconds, came back and all of my songs on my Ipod were deleted (All 7000 songs)
When I tried to "sync" it again, it gave me an error message: "Itunes cannot read the contents of the Ipod. Go to the Summary Tab in Ipod Preferences and Click Restore to restore the Ipod to its factory settings.
And of course when I try to do that, it gives me an error message that says "Could not be restored. An unknown error has occured."
I'm not sure if it's my computer or if it's my Ipod. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My next step is to throw it all out of the window.
    Thanks

I forgot to mention that all of my music is on a external hard drive. So it is not a problem to reload it back onto Itunes or my Ipod.

  • How can I copy songs from one iPod to another?

I received a new iPod Classic (last generation) and I'm trying to transfer my songs from my old iPod Nano (also last generation).
My iTunes library is also split up between my two parent's houses and I only have half the songs on my Nano in this computer's library.
Is there a way to copy only the songs on the +iPod Nano+ (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?

*Is there a way to copy only the songs on the iPod Nano (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?*
You can't copy directly from one iPod to another, you have to copy the songs back to iTunes and update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
